A big reason behind the big tally is the 12,000 new members that have already signed, emphasising the faith in new coach David Teague and the direction the club is taking.

Carlton chief executive Cain Liddle said the club was well on track to reach its ambitious 2020 membership target of 75,000.
“There is no supporter base in the competition more resilient and more unreservedly passionate to support its football club through thick and thin than Carlton members,” Liddle said.

Final figures are out for the year

We are sitting 5th.

Don't tell me that doesn't stand for anything.
We've jumped Essendon and Geelong now and may continue to do so.

Taking the newbie teams out of the equation, we're only 1 of 3 teams that have recorded a record membership in a year that had memberships effectively shut down.

Only West Coast, St.Kilda and Carlton have shown up their highest numbers ever.

Way ahead of St Kilda.

We have had an 11K increase since 2018 & the Saints a 2.2K increase since 2018.

Dear Aph :tearsofjoy:

First of all we hope your heart rate is okay. A great win last night and fantastic to see Cotters step up and seal it for us at the end!

We’ve certainly played some thrillers this year but we hope you can see the improvements we are making. We’ve been in every game, we now expect to win every game and know our best is good enough to mix it with anyone in the competition.

Most of all we hope we’ve given you all a few reasons to smile during what has been such a tough year.

Importantly though, the reason we wanted to write to you was to say, on behalf of our entire playing group, thank you.

Our footy club simply would not have survived this year without 67,035 of you signing up and sticking with us through what has been a season crazier than we ever could have imagined.

Together, you have leapfrogged Essendon, Geelong and Adelaide to finish 2020 as the fifth biggest membership base in the league, adding 2,766 members to last year's record. This is something you should be incredibly proud of – we certainly are.

We want you to know just how thankful we are, especially this week, as we celebrate Member Thank You Round heading into Sunday’s game against Adelaide.

Every year during this round we look forward to giving you the recognition you deserve. Our football club exists because of our members – you are our lifeblood and the reason we are able to run out and represent 156 years of history every time we pull on that Navy Blue guernsey.

This year the Club has organised a week of special prize giveaways for you, so keep an eye on our digital channels for those – there’s a prize up for grabs each day from today through to Sunday. Additionally, your 10 per cent member discount at The Carlton Shop has been doubled to 20 per cent for the week.

Make sure you have your phone handy on Thursday afternoon – the entire playing group will be personally calling a member each at random, so be ready for a chat if a private number rings!

We would give anything to have the stands packed with Navy Blue this Sunday, hearing the roar that only the Carlton faithful can make. That is definitely what we have missed most this season.

For those members and supporters who have been able to get to our games this year, thank you for the energy you have given us. To see all the Bluebaggers turn out in force in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory shows just how massive our football club is.

To our members in Victoria, we may not have been able to be together this year but your support has meant everything. All your messages, emails, phone calls and comments – make no mistake they get heard and they have given our group the energy to take on whatever challenge this season has thrown at us.

On the field we have certainly all shared the roller coaster of emotions that a footy season provides, like having our hearts broken after the siren against Port before returning serve with Newnsey’s goal against the Dockers. Watching all the videos that were sent through, it was great to see you celebrating that one as much as us.

We should also apologise for leaving you on the edge of your seat so much, with eight of our games to date decided by 10 points or less. It hasn’t always gone right for us this season, but we have put ourselves in a position to win every game.

That brings with it some frustration but what it says is that this group is no longer satisfied with making up the numbers. Every game we go into expecting to win.

Be better. That has been our focus as a group each game and will continue to be our focus looking ahead to 2021.

With your support behind us we have incredible belief in what we can achieve together. Results are not guaranteed, but what we can guarantee is hard work, every day, to make sure that this group achieves its ultimate goal of winning our club its 17th Premiership.

Before we sign off, we just want to send our Navy Blue love to those back home. As challenging as this season has been, it is nothing compared to what you have had to endure in Victoria.

Once again thank you for sticking with us, thank you for getting us through this season and we cannot wait until we are reunited back at the footy again as one, big Carlton family.

Up the ’Baggers.

Sitting 5th, the four above us have won or played in grand finals in the past 5 years. WC being in a two team city also inflates their numbers somewhat given less competition locally.

We're going strong, we broke our membership record before the season began and before the season was delayed/shut to the public. If this was a normal year we'd have easily hit 70k members, especially after our early wins.
Roy Morgan polls have said we've got the largest fanbase in Victoria, we just can't convert them to ticket sales or memberships, not a surprise given the last 15 years.

Once we play and win finals we'll be a 90k team the next season.

Thoughts from anyone with the legends membership package? I’m thinking of upgrading next year and was wondering if it’s worth it.
