The club has been nothing but good to Higgo.

Every one forgot he could take
The thing about Wright is his upside is massive. We really wouldn't know if he was a stop gap or the second coming until he gets into our system and shoulders the load on the forward line
2 Meter Pete is only 25 & was a high Top 10 draft pick who from what I recall played a few decent games in a really crap GC team at the time .
Then I believe he had a few injuries: lost form etc ...then the new top draft picks arrived along with Stewie Dew, Day found form Finally & King have kept him out of a much improved GC side these days .
I Like him & think he would be an ideal replacement for Brown at FF & He could also pinch hit in the ruck to help out Goldie who lets face it cannot possibly continue playing 90% of game time on the ground in the ruck for too much longer !

Excuse my ignorance, but hollands seems to figure prominently for our pick 2 on bigfooty. He missed the whole season with an ACL, is he worth the punt at 2 and given most players with that sort of injury seem to slide, isnt he more likely later? I cant comment on him as I've never seen him, just seen some other well regarded draft watchers dont have him that high.

Edit - if he isnt the 2nd best player, I dont want him at 2. I would personally like to see us take the best available kid at every pick we have

The year is 2006. North Melbourne recruiters are unsure on a promising yet injury riddled midfielder. They overlook him to take 300 game gun and triple premiership captain Lachlan Hansen.

Joel Selwood has an injury riddled career, retiring in the middle of next decade as a beloved/whipping boy clubman after 150 games.

ACL in u18 is no longer prohibitive to being a first round pick, King, Kemp... Fairly confident we will take Holland’s at 2 if Adelaide take McDonald.

Correct.

But it can cause you to drop further than what you’re talent equates to.

Not an ACL but just as serious injury - Jy Simpkin. Huge bust!

I have it from multiple sources (one of whom I trust) that she is a “pest”.

I also feel terrible about the year they’ve had personally, and DuckYeah has been disgracefully insensitive, but the premise of club falling out with Family rather than Ben per se makes a whole lot of sense to me.

The club can’t handle a ‘pest’. Says more about the club than her.

Give Jeremy Cameron double what BBB was offered..

More than brown yes but let's not go overhboard.... double would be 1.7! Don't reckon we go above a mil.... look at who we are competing with * Geelong and Coll none of those should be able to pay much more than 800k, if colas interested then that's a whole diff ball game

Taylor - McDonald - Thomas
Comben - Larkey - Zurhaar

... yes pls. Also, the oldest bloke there is 22. Set and forget for 10 years.

I've been thinking about the rebuild and players who are a good probability to be best 22 in a future finals tilt 3 years from now (hence the ages plus 3 years). I've bolded the player that have definitely shown enough promise to be best 22 provided no large set backs. I think Kyron, and perhaps Mahoney and Turner, have shown enough to be unlucky not to be bolded.

There is definitely a need to find a few tall prospects (McDonald would be amazing), particularly the time it takes them to develop. With a bit of luck we only need one more midfielder with x-factor.

I've underlined Comden (CHF or CHB) and Xerri (Ruck) as its still speculation that they can develop enough to adequately hold these difficult positions. Comden looked versatile enougg to be a third tall at either end in his draft videos, which is positive regardless of whether he becomes the main man.

When I look at the team in this perspective and think about the de-listings, I have absolutely no issues with strategy.

FB: Aiden Bonar (24), Ben Mckay (25), Kyron Hayden (24)
HB: Flynn Perez (22), Required, Luke McDonald (28)
C: Bailey Scott (23), Jed Anderson (29), Trent Dumont (28)
HF: Cameron Zurhaar (25), Charlie Comden (22), Taryn Thomas (23)
FF: Kayne Turner (27), Nick Larkey (25), Curtis Taylor (23)
Foll: Tristan Xerri (24), Jy Simpkin (25), Luke Davies-Uniacke (24)
Bench: Jack Mahoney (21), Ed Vickis Willis (27), Will Walker (24), Taylor Garner (29)

Emerg: Matt McGuinness (23)

Very close to retiring or maybe moved on: Ben Cunnington (32), Jack Ziebell (32), Shaun Atley (31)

Retired: Todd Goldstein (35), Robbie Tarrant (34), Shaun Higgins (35)

Unlikely to be with NMFC: Jared Polec (30), Ben Brown (30)

Selly's gap fillers: Josh Walker (30), Dom Tyson (30), Tom Campbell (31), Aaron Hall (32)

That's a fascinating story. Have you actually seen Hollands play?

Again, we seem to rate him a lot higher than most draft watchers, is he gettable at our pick 9 given his injury? Can anyone speak specifically about Hollands?

Great post, just on McDonald, a year in the WAFL seems similar to Larkey's one in the VFL. He might be ready quicker than you suspect.
