I’m hoping we do manage to relieve the Pies of some of their TPP pressure by landing The Other Stevo.

He struggled big time once the season resumed post the covid break due to his glandular fever setting him back and he’ll add to our young lineup.

I think we are a prime example of how the season can fall apart under the 2020 Hub environment.

I wouldnt be making too many tough calls on players for that year. Especially young ones whom had to overcome injuries.

I think this is a really smart pickup.

I wonder what his relationship is like with LDU and Bonar?

CONTRACTED PIES PAIR MEET SUITORS

Contracted Collingwood forward Jaidyn Stephenson has reportedly met with North Melbourne, while teammate Adam Treloar has completed a medical with the Western Bulldogs.

Stephenson is contracted to Collingwood beyond 2021, but the 21-year-old is one of several players the Pies are willing to trade out to free up space in its bursting salary cap.

The Age is reporting that Stephenson, a former rising star winner, has spoken with the Kangaroos about a potential move.

Also outlined in the report is Treloar’s meeting with Bulldogs officials at a discreet location away from Whitten Oval on Tuesday before the 27-year-old completed a medical.

The Dogs loom as the only real option left for Treloar outside of the Pies, who look intent to move him on despite having signed him to a five-year contract extension worth around $900,000 a year.

It comes as the Dogs weigh up offerings from Essendon for Josh Dunkley, who told the club he wishes to be traded to the Bombers despite having two years to run on a contract.

It will be interesting to see how Stephenson could potentially affect our draft selections.

Hollands, whilst I think is a potential mid, there's still a risk that he is a forward at AFL level.

Thomas, Taylor, Zurhaar, Stephenson, Hollands, Garner, Walker is far too many medium type forwards.

draft in Tackleberry for some midfield pressure or is he too similar to Zurhaar? Hightower as a rookie ruckman??
The bloke who played Tackleberry, David Graf, died of a heart attack just nine days short of his 51st birthday. Both his father & his grandfather died of heart attacks at 51 years of age.
Although Bubba Smith, who played Hightower, was a former NFL #1 draft pick, I’m pretty sure he died of a drug overdose about ten years ago.

We may need to explore another movie franchise?

Fair point but Garner surely isn't a major consideration in long term planning given his history, walker is not a medium forward at AFL level and not contracted(?) That shortens the list quite a bit, I see Thomas primarily as a midfielder.

What are you thinking a Stephenson trade looks like Pykie?

Not sure but I believe he’ll be working alongside Sam Gibson.
Sam gibson? We have a butcher outlet as well now?

HIGGINS HOLD-UP EXPLAINED

Shaun Higgins’ wish to join Geelong still hasn’t been finalised, with the Kangaroos rejecting the Cats’ first offer for the classy midfielder, reports The Age.

While much of the Geelong trade focus has been around the mechanics of the possible Jeremy Cameron trade with the Giants, Higgins’ wish to join the Cats has been delayed.

The Age reported on Tuesday night the Cats had offered Pick 38 in exchange for Higgins — a deal that wasn’t accepted by the Roos.

AFL Media reported earlier this week that Geelong was hesitant to give up “anything more than a second-round pick” for Higgins, who still has one year to run on his North Melbourne contract. Yet North reportedly wants more than a second-rounder in exchange for the 32-year-old.

The report suggested North had flagged acquiring a second-round pick from Geelong for Higgins while also swapping the Geelong’s Pick 20 for North’s Pick 28 to help the latter move further up the draft order.

Despite the mini hurdle, it’s unlikely Higgins will be at the Kangaroos in 2021, with the club understanding of the on-baller’s family-orientated reasons behind the move.

A two-time North Melbourne best and fairest winner, Higgins is keen to return to the Geelong area where close family is located.

The price Melbourne will have to pay at the trade table to secure North Melbourne forward Ben Brown remains in dispute with the Kangaroos still eyeing off pick 26, the Demons' first pick in the 2020 draft, as being the key plank of a deal that is certain to involve a series of pick swaps.

The Demons traded in two second-round selections - 31 and 33 - on Tuesday after receiving pick 31 for contracted ruckman Brayden Preuss and pick 33 in a pick swap with the Adelaide Crows which increased their options for a trade with North Melbourne however it remains to be seen whether they will be prepared to foresake pick 26 for Brown.

Pick 26 is Melbourne's first selection at this stage as they traded out their first-round pick for 2020 to the Kangaroos to have a first-round pick in last year's draft and could form part of a deal with another second round pick to get the hard leading forward.

Brown nominated Melbourne as his preferred destination after the Kangaroos put him on the trade table at the end of a season that saw him kick just eight goals in nine games after being North Melbourne's leading goalkicker from 2016-2019.

Apart from gaining pick 31 for Preuss, Melbourne snared picks 33 and 50 from the Crows in a pick swap that saw two of their future picks head to Adelaide.
North Melbourne hold picks two, 11 and 28 but would like to head to the draft with three picks inside the top 20 if possible.

The return they get for Brown remains critical to their chances of potentially achieving that objective as they may be able to package second-round picks to move further up the draft order.

North Melbourne also landed Western Bulldogs fringe player Lachie Young after a pick swap with the Brisbane Lions that allowed a trade to happen and Stefan Martin move from the Lions to the Bulldogs rather than wait for the delisted free agency period to open.

Meanwhile Melbourne received a future-third round pick for small forward Mitch Hannan who made his way to the Western Bulldogs after battling to cement a spot inside the Demons' recast forward line in 2020.

Hannan said he was excited to return to a familiar environment having played in Footscray's VFL premiership in 2016.
"I pride myself on playing around in the forward line and letting my talents be put on show," Hannan said.

"It is a mixture of opportunity and some familiar faces that attracted me to come back and join the Western Bulldogs."

Hannan played 50 games for the Demons as a versatile forward kicking 55 goals including a famous running sealer against Geelong in the 2018 elimination final. The high flier can play either as a crumbing or lead-up forward.

North Melbourne are also yet to finalise a deal with Geelong over contracted midfielder Shaun Higgins who looks set to land at the Cats who have their hands full trying to secure Jeremy Cameron from the Giants. The Kangaroos did not accept pick 38 which was the Cats' original offer for the 32-year-old.

Geelong remain at an impasse with the Giants who have rejected the initial offer from the Cats and have had no luck in convincing contracted players such as Brandan Parfitt or Esava Ratugolea to join their club. The Cats have re-signed several stars including Tom Hawkins and Zach Touhy in recent weeks after finishing runners-up in 2020.

The Giants are also trying to secure a first-round pick for Jye Caldwell and a pick above the pick 40 on offer from Adelaide for Jackson Hately. Both players were first-round selections in the 2018 national draft but have accepted offers to return to their home states after just two years with the Giants.

Adelaide have picks 22 and 23 but they are more likely to package them up to secure pick 14 off the Western Bulldogs than use them on Hately.

That's why I want Phillips.

How did this crap ever manage to come to life?

"hold-up" = Geelong offered a sh*t pick and we refused it as is our right
It's amazing isn't it. Dildoro is "clever and standing his ground" trying to either lowball or shaft them and we are "holding everyone up"...media had become a wankfest by media blokes just looking after their own interests and the club they support.
Even Garry Lyon just stated, "phwoar! pick 26 I would think is more than enough for Ben Brown"......Really Gaz?? FFS

Ben Waterworth should wear a Geelong jumper in his online pic.

"He graduated Elizabeth College in 2005, receiving the prestigious Dux of media studies in the same year........." :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

LOL, did he just get off the bus behind him in this pic?

Yes but Hooks would be a perfect crumbing forward and Commandant Lassard can be our new coach

You know it's desperate times when pages of discussion surround a bloke that could barely get a game for the Pies is somehow interesting.

You are right... drafted at what 6 in 2017, won nab rising star in 2018, averages 1.4 goals a game even with an ave ssn last year.... sounds pretty useless

Which one is he?

The sporty kid or the old man in the colourful top?

Giraffe out, Giraffe in. Almost like some list managers enjoy the trade game more the club's actual needs.
Stephenson's worth in a trade inst easy to figure. Top 5 pick a few years back but disappointing 2020 and his salary demand some discount.

Perhaps something like-

NM: Stephenson, 16
COL: 11, 28
Sos ex Carlton reckons North might only need to give a second rounder for Stephenson, due to his recent form and the fact Collingwood are trying trying to move him on. Looking like it could be similar to what we end up with from Ben Brown trade.

A few people had seen that that they had already moved house to live in Geelong. You could take that as just for COVID to escape lockdown or more permanently

Way to miss the point.

North don't owe Shaun to trade him cheap for "family reasons" that only surfaced when his form raised the possibility of playing into 2022 and beyond.
