They won’t list him until he’s contracted. And they’ll wait to see what’s around before committing. I reckon he’ll get another year.
Talked about Jed on a couple occasions before signing. That filled me with confidence that he would. WW on the other hand 🤷🏼‍♂️

North Melbourne is planning for big things to come on and off the field, after a bumper trade and free agency period according to CEO, Ben Amarfio.
“We’ve made some strong statements in the last couple of weeks,” Amarfio said.

“We’re all working methodically on a long-term plan. Some of those decisions have been painful to make, but they’re the decisions that will help turn the club around.”

A special panel comprising Amarfio, GM Football Brady Rawlings, Head of Player Personnel Scott Clayton and List Manager Glenn Luff, convened to answer member questions on Friday afternoon and covered a range of topics.

Clayton, who has had decades of experience in the AFL said the club was on the brink of something special as it prepares to enter the draft with its strongest hand in years.

“As much as we’ve enjoyed bringing the players in this week, we’re ready to go to the draft, which is where it gets really exciting.”
“We’ll have five picks in December. We’re so set out, and so excited.

“I fully expect media and fans to say next year, ‘Gee, North Melbourne’s exciting’.”

Luff, who spent 20 years at Champion Data before joining North, said the acquisitions of Aidan Corr, Lachie Young, Atu Bosenavulagi and Jaidyn Stephenson all fill a specific need.

“We looked at our defence and we needed to stock up there,” he said.

“We’ve been able to attract Aidan Corr, who was one of the first names on our board, and Lachie Young, who we think has been underutilised.

“The other thing we looked at was speed in the front half of the ground, and Jaidyn and Atu bring that.”

10 minutes in and there's a few heavy questions, phwoar.

When discussing Ben Brown and why it was telegraphed that we wanted him out, Clayton brought up what the Pies did last night. Which situation would you have preferred?

Remember last night when some of them were convinced Stephenson alone would get them a taste of pick 2.
I remember.

It's a fair point - if it is true that every club knew he was out the door.

Will say, they arent running from some of the harder questions like i thought they might

Interesting that Brady outright says that Brown only had one suitor. Was wondering whether they just had the most compelling offer for him, or if at the end of the day after due diligence etc they were the only ones still interested.
Probably the only club willing to offer 4 years? Was that the contract he ended up signing? Think Brady made it clear that it was the length of the contract that was the biggest issue and not necesarily the $ valeu.

Though scotty clayton did say that part of the decision making was TPP going out which helps

Re the Draft and the worries about no footy

Clayton said the work has been done and we're organised.
Luffy - we've interviewed over 70 players over Zoom

Regarding the list , we aimed for speed in the midfield and the front half and for the backline, we needed to look forward 3-4 years ahead.

First couple picks - best talent
Needs with later picks

I assume one is a ruckman, and "speed" is the others.

Maybe some of those draft camp speedsters on the fringe are going to get a look in?

Clayton on Young - Lachie will start at half back, we will utilise his strengths. A punchy kick, Athletically quite elite.
Luff - Higher defender, beautiful quick, can run all day, an Interceptor, uses the ball really well. Clayton has scouted him over the last three years.

The club is planning and developing Tristian Xerri as our next ruck to take over from Goldy.
I've always believed he was the heir apparent and nothing I've seen from X has made me think otherwise.
