Some of the people on here are willing to give up Gresham and a pick for Taranto. I have never seen him play a very good game yet. Gresham has played quite a few.
Taranto is being over valued while Gresh is being under valued.
I wouldn't be throwing Gresham in, but you don't win best and fairests at the age not 21 in a grand final side without playing a good game Baz

This is only my opinion. But I would trade the future for Caldwell and Taranto.
Take our firsts and seconds.

trade Carlisle and Lonie

try bring in Ben Brown for Carlisle.
Job done.
Got to the draft with 4th and 5th rounders for all I care.
I like it and it’s smart to shake the gws tree but you‘re missing one thing for it to be job done.

Get into the ear of every decent player on the Geelong list and see what shakes loose, I‘d just be happy to cost the arse goblins an extra 500,000 - 1,000,000 a year, job done.

Lucky I’m alive! The US riots was nothing I ever want to witness again. But yes - didn’t feel like moving back to Melb with the tail between my legs, so randomly choose GC for a few years. Great decision in hindsight and couldn’t be happier.. I’ll be cheering loud and proud this Sat. What an amazing year.
cheer loudly for all of , give us a rundown afterwoods and don't be too melting no matter what happenss !!!!! :D :drunk:

The industry rumour is that it is very frosty between Cogniglio and Taranto.

would cost every bit of currency we have and leave us with nothing at draft time for 2 years.
yuk. I don't like giving up everything for 1 player. what happens if he breaks down! knowing the saints!!!!

His kicking efficiency is 49. His disposal efficiency is 62.
Defintiely needs to improve that area of his game, but what is Dangerfields kicking efficiency?

I can't imagine it would be too much higher.

Taranto had an injury interrupted start to the season and couldn't get going after that.

As a 21 year old last year though he was ahead of Dangerfield, Petracca and Fyfe at the same age.

Grab Higgins and brown for a roughly a second rounder. Keep Clark down back for another season with Higgins and hannebury in and have him and someone like bytel or Byrnes transfer in to go along side Steele, Taranto Jones and fresh.

Free up king to be second fiddle and protect him.

Carlisle out for picks, battle down back Marshall king brown membrey as tall forwards, all mobile except brown, that's a very good forward setup.

It's a big ask but bringing in Higgins and brown sets us up for now and they, along side hannebury retire by the time Clark, coffield and king need big paydays.

Clark needs to be in the midfield. Her belongs there.

In actual saints news, this is from Tom Morris:

"Caldwell very much in the frame. Yep. He's meeting with his manager Matt Bain this week to discuss what he wants to do. Taranto - Can't see GWS letting him go for anything pretty much."

Sounds a little more hopeful on caldwell but less so on TT. I guess we shall see. Hopefully one of them falls out when we shake the tree.

Yeah it doesn't bother me, was just clarrifying kicking efficiency vs disposal efficiency.

It's the nature of the position. Inside midfielders are going to have low kicking efficiencies. Very few would go at above 60. Most are in the 50-60 range. He'll be in that range you'd think as he develops.

Also another updated from Morris who is generally on the mark with saints news:

" In answer to your question, Carlisle... 50/50 at best to be at the Saints next year. Paton: Talks progressing well now with his management and the club. Dons hovering. Very good young defender. Lonie: Will have a one year deal on the table from the Saints but if he can get 2-3 years somewhere else I sense he will go. Hope that answers your question"

No one is offering Jye $600000 for 5 years

We heard you the first time

How you would know, I have no idea unless you are part of the St.Kilda recruiting team or Caldwell's management. And if you are, WTF are you hanging around BigFooty?

Yeah I trust Morris more than most with saints info. Wasn’t he our website guy a few years ago? Probably still has contacts within the club.

The whole Taranto/Caldwell play by us has to simply be to drive up interest/price in one in the hope that another will fall loose. And I don’t think we mind which one falls loose. It’s a smart play, I wonder if it’ll work.

Draft picks are and will always be overrated.

have a look at some of the picks we have used in the past 5 years Mccartin (pick 1) Dunstan (16 odd) Acres (18 odd) Goddard (20 odd) McKenzie (25 odd). Most often that not, they don't work out as well as they should.

Give me a proven player any day of the week especially one that has 10 plus years of football in him.

it's a different story if we are using our first round picks constantly on players 26 or over.

This kid is 1 year older than Clark and Coffield.. so let that sink in before we jump up and down.
I’ve always agreed with this. Pics are hit and miss from pick 1 to pick 100 in the draft. Yes it’s an educated and evaluated strategy, but you just don’t know. Boyd, McCartin, Scully, Patton ect all prove this. Trading them for a known quantity is an exact science. Then hopefully with later pics, you can guess right or trade again, I.e Butler.. I mean how good has that turned out.

Feels to me the only way Taranto is leaving GWS is if he wants home and gives GWS an ultimatum. Maybe that is what is happening but I don't think many clubs are going to be able to find a package that is going to entice GWS to let him go.

I think Caldwell could be gettable with what we have to play with.

Harder than ever this year. 18 top picks already aligned with clubs and no exposed form on the Victorian kids. If there is an opportunity to trade picks for players this is probably a good year to do it.

I think Gresham has played his best footy close to goal. He looked on track to be something pretty special there, he's a good but not elite mid. Ideally he plays a mix. Billings probably early on looked great closer to goal but then started to get psyched out with his set shot conversion.

Zero coincidence that when Gresh went out, our midfield lost its way. I'm not saying he doesn't spend time forward but he's a 75/25 mid, not a forward pocket like many suggest.
