Geelong should have to pay him $150,000 next year and jack could get given a role suited to him in a transition role to life after footy or something. I don’t see him as an advocate for a cause or wanting spotlight but if he is cut loose it wouldnt be good for his welfare

Geelong should have to pay him every single cent of the reported $700k that they owe him & have it included in their TPP.

Any welfare support outside of that is a different matter.

set us up for the next trade period, leadership has been next level and has no doubt helped propel our guys to the next level.
Showed how good he is in big games, was nearly BOG in our first finals win in forever.
Whether its "every cent" or not, i don't think you can underestimate the massive impact he has had.

He did end the year very well though so looking forward to what he brings next year for sure.

Where Edmund said yesterday that Webster and Dunstan had not even been discussed in the Crouch deal. Fox Sport are guessing.

It's a massive amount of $$$ to include in this year's cap. Clubs usually try to spread it out over a number of years when they retire someone before the end of their deal.

Nothing against Stuv, but I was pretty relieved in a way when he got dropped from the Cats. If he turned it on in the GF and helped win them a flag (Luke Ball style), despite them giving us nothing for him I would have been bitter for a long time about it (as I still am about Luke). If he's let go now, I'll feel like we did OK out of it.

well. as the course of this season it looked in the end like we did a good deal. it would have been masterful of a deal if we had done the deal a year before. but in the end it was not bad

I'm hoping they are right, and the surgery he had this time has actually fixed the issue ... when you look what he was able to do end-of-season, you really want to see what he could still give us with a 10-15 game run.

went for Gold Coast's future 3rd and 4th last year.

And Dunstan is younger, contacted and produced more than Greenwood has in his career. I would be using that trade as the base for what we ask for.

Sounds entirely plausible.

We've shown time and again that we are willing to work collaboratively with all clubs to make win-win deals.

Sounds like we made real efforts to avoid lodging an RFA bid and calling the crows bluff.

The crow dummies sound like they didn't want to face up to the reality that they had very little power because they have zero interest in keeping brad for 4+ years.

Basically they tried bluffing us with a terrible hand- and their stomach's would have dropped when we called them on it by lodging a 600x4 guaranteed money RFA bid.

They had a chance to get out of this with better than band 2/3 (by doing a dunstan etc deal last week)- but instead chose to go for band 1 by trying to scare us into making a big RFA bid with a really obvious bluff.

It's a strategy that may have worked if we were desperate for brad- but we really aren't.

Our trade successes of the last few years, coupled with onfield success this year means we could comfortably deal with missing crouch if that happened.

I'm thrilled our club has professionals making the moves and not clowns like ricciuto and co.
