Phillips and Narkle are a spectrum apart. Quinton is all flash and X factor, Ed is all work ethic and repeat effort. I rate Ed higher than lots of others do. He was no worse than Hill this year playing a similar role.

Narkle went at pick 60 and imo that was about right.

Phillips gets a bagging by some but I agree with you he‘s a player I’m happy to keep. My point on narkle was really more about how highlights from a players best game are often deceptive.

Sorry guys back to the trades, I'm up for Narkle (and so is Justine!!!!)

Phillips and Narkle are a spectrum apart. Quinton is all flash and X factor, Ed is all work ethic and repeat effort. I rate Ed higher than lots of others do. He was no worse than Hill this year playing a similar role.

Both being only 22 they both have upside , however one is sound , the other a croc.
If both are given game time next year in the VFL or AFL they should be in a position to see if they are worth keeping on the list.
As Gringo said Narkle came from the draft rated highly and a lot of the time these kids need more time to get there body right in terms of fitness , where Phillips was a natural runner and fitness was never a concern.
If we need run and carry you keep Phillips , Narkle will be good pick up - but we need to be getting on the cheap contract and trade wise.

Don’t seem to remember mentioning anything about positions? But hey change the narrative to suite yourself. My comment is solely about talent and if Parker was crap or whatever your post stated then so is McBean.

Am talking about ability, McBean is a good state league player it is of no relevance whatsoever what position he was taken in the draft he does not have the game to make it as an AFL footballer.

Based on your argument perhaps we should look at Jimmy Toumpas

he was a early pick or perhaps Nick Sauntner back in the day won the VFL goal kicking nearly every year.

What skill set does McBean provide that will get him a kick at AFL level. he is not overly quick on the lead he is not a great pack mark and does not have great hands.

I agreed with Parker being moved on but he at least had a few tricks.

Treloar may have a decision to make if the suggestion that he wants us is true. Either play for his preferred club and sacrifice $s on a restructured deal or go elsewhere and keep the $s (which he is 100% entitled to do, particularly with a young family)

Interesting watch

Regardless of whatever is going on with his current contract, at the age of 27 he's earned something akin to 5 million already, and chuck in whatever his Mrs makes on top.
I think his young family are probably gonna do ok even if he never earns another dollar for the rest of his life.

For a guy with MH concerns he aught just go to the environment that makes him happy.
So if he chooses the $$$ and to spend his latter career at a rebuilding team then that kind of says enough.
Either way, Stkilda win.

I’m not that keen on narkle, I could show you a highlights package of a game where Phillips played very well.

That's cool.

He's a much better footballer than Phillips.

Will be a bargain pick up for whoever gets him as long as his body holds up.

Clean hands and good in traffic. Wins his own footy and has a bit of pace. Also has a bit of versatility is it's not just midfield or nothing.

I think he was a handy player , but really was a step down from AFL quality although when he played you could never question his endeavour .

I agree , I think we are a much more settled line up with him in the team . Gives Battle the chance to play different roles either in defence or attack . How much tighter might the semi final against the Tigers might have been if we had him to play on Lynch . Also like that Carlisle has a bit of attitude in him , makes our younger smaller players feel a bit taller .

I wouldn’t trade Dunstan , Webster , Dmac , Savage or Robbo . First of all I don’t think we would get much for them anyway . But they are also back up if we have one of those years with injuries.
As an example , say Wilkie does his ankle , Paton gets concussed , and Coffield has a long term knee problem. At least we still have some decent defenders to bring in .
Same with Dunstan in the midfield, you just never know how good or bad injuries will be .

He's someone I would love as a replacement for Hunter at half back, with Hunter playing midfield full-time.

West Coast are getting a gem. Going to fit in their backline perfectly.
