i think the problem is we need to hang onto our first so we can future trade next year. pick is too late this year to split it :-(

What if we swap 2020 first round picks (17 for 21?) together with the future second Rd pick? Too much? I’d be keen. Think Higgins has Milne level skills around goal and creativity. Would be a great get.

sounds like tigers are not interested in a 2nd rounder, especially a later one. i think we'd need a very early 2nd

Plus higgins is far from certain to be an upgrade on kent or sinclair anyway.

I'm pretty confident he's and upgrade on Kent. Gets 4 or 5 more touches per game and is 5 years younger. Sinclair at his best vs Higgins at his best - pretty close, Higgins kicks more goals. It's no disgrace to be on the fringe of that Tigers team. You are best 22 at just about any other club.

i think the club is actively engaged in the treloar and higgins situation but because they're contracted they cannot fully commit to them. the problem with contracted players is you have to really pay up to the existing club to get them out. for example Hill.

i don't think we are prepared to "overpay" for either just to make it happen. i think we are happy with where our list is at and are not prepared to break our draft assets just to make deals happen again.

so i think we will play it off at arms length, similar to crouch. if we can't get them for the price we are prepared to pay then we will walk away and the pies & tigers will have to look for another suitor and or keep the player.

given the cap situation at the pies and the new that stephenson is on massive coin next year, i reckon there's more to play out there.

richmond is hard to get a handle on.

I like that. I think the value for Higgins is somewhere between our 17 and our future 2nd. I'd probably ask them to return a future 3rd also. Back ourselves in to go up the ladder and them go down.

Butler was awesome this year, but there's no guarantee he will back it up next year. He's not gonna fly under anyone's radar and will cop a lot of attention.

Kent, Hind and Lonie are all inconsistent and not best 22 consistently

Makes one of Stephenson or Higgins a priority for me. I'd be happy to push back to 21 this year and hand over next year's 2nd to Rich if that's what it takes. Stephenson is a hard one to cost, but 17 seems about right

If Sydney decides to shop Aliir Aliir should we take a look? Being linked to Port although I'm not sure why, he doesn't seem to have links to Adelaie to presumably a move to Melboune wouldn't be an issue.

I’ve heard nothing about this from Flaming Flaming so consider a move by St Kilda unlikely.

The problem we have is the AFL has yet to announce list sizes and salary cap for next year, which is a nonsense considering we are nearing the end of the trade period.

It means that players like Dunstan, Lonie, Webster etc cannot be traded out while the procrastination and uncertainty continues. It restricts our ability to free up salary cap room and acquire additional draft picks.

Until player movement can be unclogged then I think we are stuck.

Can i ask why everyone is so confident on Bing coming next year? Seems like its a bit of pipe dream doesnt it? All the reports were that he was going to see out his contract with the Suns and he is on enormous coin.
Anyone who genuinely understands knows the bond between identical twins is completely different from any other. It is a subject I personally know very well, first hand. These boys barely spent a day a part before Ben was drafted to the Suns, they were inseparable and shared a boyhood dream of playing for the Saints so it would be killing Ben to see Max running around in a successful Saints side regardless of what he is being paid.

Now, does Ben being up in GC forging his own identity & on big coin change this dynamic? Possibly.

Are there other examples in the AFL where identical twins went separate ways? Yes.

Think the probability is still very high he would ultimately take a haircut on his next contract offer (which will be huge) to reunited with Max.

The guy is a gun so I hope I am right and the club does everything to secure him.

In have not watched a lot of footy outside of Saints the last 3-4 years. That been said, what little I have seen of Stephenson has been damn exciting.

Cant put my finger on it, but just one of those players you are worried about when playing against. He is dangerous AF. A far better prospect than Higgins, and possibly better long term option than Treloar.

I don't know why, we are hell bent on to keeping this years first., especially when this is a draft of unknown quality.

The only thing is maybe a bit of poker on our part.

It’s more to keep the first round pick next year up our sleeve. We have to use on this year if we want to trade next year. And we have plans for that.
