Anyone who’s watched Higgins in the last few years can recognise he’s a very smart young player with a fair amount of ability. If he doesn’t improve he’s a stronger version of Lonie who has the ability to play through the middle. If he does improve he can play a similar role to Gresham albeit probably not too greater effect.
Good move IMO

have you ever seen anything like this from our club StCicatriz ?

not in my life time. this feels very very different. don't feel like we are staying stagnant. instead moving the pieces

i just hope we still keep an eye to the draft

I love how no one in the media can report on what we’re doing until it’s just about done.
This admin doesn’t care about the theatre of trade week, the just do deals and make moves.

Exactly- tight as a drum = uber professional.

I'd even go as far as saying that given higgins is contracted- we probably told him to wait before going public until we had spoken with (and probably already agreed to a deal with) tiggers.

When it comes to our guys, a nomination = the deal will absolutely get done- it's probably already done in principle.

You have to be quick to break a story on here lol.

Richmond's Jack Higgins has officially requested a trade and wants to join St Kilda.

Ok I was a bit slow but that’s because I type slow lmao. Thought this was going to be my big chance to break a story . I go to the Trade thread and there is the picture of Higgins with the headline .
Maybe I’m just a slow reader lol.

Should be an interesting contrast to the draw out Adelaide nonsense. Both us and Richmond professionals at the trade table. Hopefully a swap of firsts and a second gets it done; and if so hopefully we ink the deal tomorrow and leave a couple of days to keep an eye out for bargains.

People love to throw "big upgrade" around, reality is that Higgins hasn't done any more than Sinclair… he's younger so may have more upside, but he's alos just as likely to have similar output in the future, Lonie is a better goal kicker than both BTW.
He was a first round draft pick a couple of years ago, was best 22 in the best team in the comp as an 18 year old before he had a traumatic brain injury out of nowhere, a pure footballer with big upside IMO. Richmond, as in the team that just won their 3rd flag in four years aren't happy about losing him, says enough.

Still a better news breaker than the flamingo

Can i ask why everyone is so confident on Bing coming next year? Seems like its a bit of pipe dream doesnt it? All the reports were that he was going to see out his contract with the Suns and he is on enormous coin.

Ben King is managed by Paul Connors. Connors is the most powerful player manager. He get deals done.

If Ben decides he wants to come home then Connors will get it done. He is a brilliant manager.

Ultimately it is a matter of what Ben wants to do in 12 months time. None of us are privy to that.

SYDNEY has held discussions with former No.1 pick Paddy McCartin about reviving the ex-Saint's stalled career after a year out of the game with concussion.

However, Swans CEO Tom Harley said ongoing uncertainty about list sizes going into 2021 made it difficult to make a firm call on the strong-marking tall forward.

go paddy!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

No he’s not, settle it’s a richmond fringe player who may or may not end up best 22.

I saw someone comparing him to Milne before, bloody hell starting to look a bit delusional imo.
I didn't compare him to Milne did I, I said he's an upgrade on Kent and Sinclair, which he absolutely is on potential alone. Our club clearly sees this as well, and I'd back them in given their track record over the last couple of years.

The tigers will play much harder ball than they did last year for butler, so I'm not expecting him to come terribly cheap.

They were probably fairly happy to let butler go to a team they didn't expect to bother them in finals.

No such luck this year though- they will want good value for higgins, all the more so given it will strengthen... dare I say it?

A fellow flag contender?

Straight swap for Ben long.

I think Treloar and even maybe Higgins is a pipe dream.

Can only go off what lethlean and Gallagher have said, but we aren't in the same situation cap wise as we used to be.

Unsurprising considering
Hanners
Hill
Crouch
Jones
Butler
Howard
Ryder

All enticed to the club in the past year.

And we have legacy players we can't move who are on good coin

Dunstan
Savage
Roberton
Webster

Then we have to consider contracts for the following

King
Clarke
Coffield
Battle (just signed a 2 year deal)
Steele (signed a 2 year deal)
Billings

etc

So the deadwood (as far as SC is concerned) is the depth players we can't move on.

We lose Jack Steven's contract money, Hanners wont trigger the 5th year, Robbo will be out the door when his contract is over if he can't break into the team.

In saying that, if we can't move these guys on this trading period, we need to utilise them. They are all capable of playing AFL, just not best 22 on paper for 2021.

However we had a run or relative luck with injuries this year. These guys can be construed as good depth and even though they are overpaid for depth, thats not their fault.

Aged well

Higgins has requested a trade to us, confirmed in the Age.
