Callow is getting spoken about as a defender at AFL level. Chapman obviously as well.

I think Cox (if we think he can fwd/ruck), Baldwin, Neale should be where we look.
After the Jesse thing I wonder if we have the guts to take a risk on someone like Baldwin?

Would be a massive gamble with Baldwin. Have we the stomach for that after the hogan debacle?
We have sort of painted ourselves into a corner again, a couple of injuries to our KP's and another season derailed.
Chapman, Reid, etc, or cross fingers a late pick and someone is still on the table.
Not ideal and limits your choices, and puts the spotlight on previous poor drafting.
To be fair the drafting has been excellent on the whole since 2014 actually, when we took Weller, Blakely, Langdon and Hughes.
Its the botched Hogan trade that has painted us into this position.Even if we’d taken Ben King 2years ago instead of Hogan and he asked for a trade home now, we would have got pick 2 in return I reckon and replaced him with Logan McDonald or Thilthorpe. Instead we have pick 54 😥

Probably not at 12 but definitely with our 2nd if we got to use it.

I am usually wildly against trading down but this year I think it makes sense. Swap 12 for 18+22 or something and take 2 of the KPFs including Baldwin.

I’m still holding on to the chance of getting Jordan Clark. My ideal trade would be for us to trade our first pick for Clark and a pick in the early 20’s, hoping Geelong need more picks to get Cameron and also need to clear salary cap space for him. Then we use our first pick in the early 20’s on a KPF, maybe Baldwin is worth the gamble at that pick?

Clark doesn't look likely. If he can't crack the team this year then I think he might seek opportunity elsewhere. I think its best for all that he tries to break into the team in 2021 and reassess.

I'd gamble on Baldwin anything after first round, just because of desperation but I would definitely pick up at least one more KPF prospect with him, even if it is late.

I think we need to pick up a KPF/ruck with a pick as well as a KPF, we have less ruck depth than we do KPF depth

Yes.... baldwin worth the risk... hogan case risk was not the issue but the cost was... as you said one more kpf like neale or ollie lord would be good. If Cameron deal doesn't go through geelong may take lord with late pick? He is the grandson of their 1963 premiership player and brownlow medallist Allaister Lord. Chris 25 rate him highly.....

Picks alone won't do it in the Cameron trade, GWS want players. If Geelong can't persuade any of their own players to go, then they'd need to go a multiple club trade. It's a pity we didn't have any currency GWS may want so as to get involved in that. :cautiousv1:

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the issue with Baldwin?
Had an ACL on one knee, and then came back and had a partial tear of an ACL on the other knee (interestingly I’ve never really heard of a “partial” ACL tear).
Based on talent would be ranked similar to Logan McD and Thilthorpe as a 16 year old..
If he stays healthy and get ms back to pre injury form someone will have a bargain.
Hard not to get an Alex Johnson/morabito feeling from him though.. some guys bodies just aren’t cut out for it unfortunately

Yep. We somehow need to get another second rounder. Take Reid or Cox with our first (think we'll need to be inside pick 18 to get one of them) and then Neale.

We have 3 rucks which I think is fine. The obvious problem is that Lobb is in both groups. He basically can't get injured and always seems to.

I don't know much about most players this year especially anyone outside pick 30 or so. No doubt there is some value to find.

I’ve not aware of any player that has done 2 ACL’s and has not lost pace, side ways movement or vertical leap.

Please post exception to this as I would be interested to know as someone who personally has done 2 x ACL.

I think you are probably correct. The risk is too great. If we were using a rookie pick then maybe.
