Has anyone ever done that before. Traded two first round picks for one first round pick?
GWS did it last season.

They traded #6 and #9 for #4.

If we were to trade pick #14 (this season) and a pick around #10 next year for pick #5 this season then it would be a steal.

That the player would be a WA key forward which we really need would be icing on the cake.

Having a free agent to target at the end of next season and only the first round pick in 2022 to trade for him if they match because of it... even better.

Interesting part of Twomey's article is who he linked to us.

Mostly the obvious ones in Cook, Chapman, Cox and Macrae. Everyone has them around that part of the draft. I'm a big Pedlar fan, I thought he'd be a massive bargain in this draft - seems as though all the clubs agree and he'll go much earlier than I initially thought. Not sure why Twomey is going with the Serong comparison though, I don't see it.

Not sure about Harry Sharp with one of our other picks. I imagine he's one who would impress clubs as a person, but a purely outside runner with below average disposal doesn't really seem to fit in.

Two firsts for a rookie? No way! Offer to firsts for him in a few years if he is any good, but it would be madness to give two firsts for an 18yo.
I’d do it if it guaranteed Logan, but would be expecting something back like future 3rd round pick.

Pick 14/15, 2020 1st > for pick 5 or 6 (Logan McDonald) & 2021 3rd

If Logan is still available at 5 (Hawks) they may even pass for Will Philips then it comes down to whether we can trade with GCS. Gold Coast will only take one pick to the draft so may be happy sliding back to 14/15 and getting themselves a future 1st - whilst passing back one of the plethora of future 3rds they hold (GCS, Carlton, Melbourne).

It's interesting how late O'Driscoll and Poulter are predicted to be selected. If we're thinking of trading up, moving up our second rounder slightly to pick up a slider and get ahead of a Walker bid would be ideal.
I don't mind some of the late first round options. We may have a tempting trade down option.

Id do it. A pick upgrade this year for a WA boy with a years development vs the same merry go round next year.

Plenty of reasons for us to do it but the Hawks ? No way , have a look at their spine the next time you see a B22 worst in the comp by a mile

Glad to see that there are no bids on Walker and Western in his top 30. Chris who can you see that is still on the board that could be available for our second pick going off of his phantom draft?

Neale is in there. Cook and Neale would work for me.

Any info about Allison, the Victorian tall forward?

Yep they'd be mad too. We'd do it 100% but really to get pick 5 with Logan on the board you'd need a lot more than we've got.

Interesting to see Twomwy has Neale going at 30, he has been saying in the lead up to the draft that he is more a late/rookie pick.

He had him just outside his 25, at 33 in the next 15 list that he put out.

Again, there should be plenty on offer at our second pick if we get to use it. One of Neale, Ginnivan, Durdin may still be available, or someone rated higher might fall through like Ford, Winder, Stone or Bowey.

Do you think we could get Neale with our second pick?

I’m good with a wingman as our first .. ie Cook, I see NO’D as a winger as well given his strengths, I see MacRae as less these these two, others may fall through the cracks on draft day like Young did and confuse the issue.

Second pick really is dependent on NGA matches, and when we are required to match.. above 25 might be a tricky scenario.

Ideally would like a KPF like Neale or Baldwin if he is gone.

Baldwin is set to go for preseason so could be an absolute gun... or ! But other picks including NGA boys will be mint so one Hail Mary ain’t bad!

Can see us having some pondering before we pick if a bid comes for Walker early (20-25) and there are several guns still up for grabs. Or maybe by the time we get to our first we can spot opportunities ahead and trade our first

Chris25 do we take Perkins if available? How do you rate compared to Cook?

I think Ford and Chapman will both be better than Perkins long term...but Chris says????

Let’s just say it ain’t straight forward this year, as not a lot of form..

Forward projecting upside potential is tricky. I’ve lent towards form in last few years, but also acknowledge that Cook is a good addition to historical form.

is there something about Ford...his personality etc that we are not hearing about?....watched a variety of highlights on him and find it hard to believe he is not being talked about more

Yeah it's interesting. I wonder what we would do If someone like O'Driscoll is still on the board and a bid came (for Walker) from Carlton one pick before ours - so it's either O'Driscoll v Walker.

It would be an interesting choice although I hope it doesn't come to this and hope we're proactive about moving up slightly if someone slides.

I really don't get the love for Shannon Neale. Look at his stats and its unimpressive.

Only averages 2.75 marks, 13.9 possessions, 0.375 goals, 18.6 hit outs and 2.75 tackles.

Compared that with Michael Mallard.

4 Marks, 15.8 possessions, 0.12 goals, 32.88 hit outs, and 1.66 tackles.

You can argue that James Soloman was in the same team as Neale and therefore it reduces the hit outs for Neale.

Even if you double his hit outs, their isn't a lot of difference between Neale and Mallard.

Remember these stats are from WAFL colts and Neale is 3 levels away from the AFL.

This is why I think Neale will be available quite late. Seems very very raw.

Sounds like it’s more likely than unlikely he’s selected tomorrow but wouldn’t be surprised to see him overlooked tbh.

Mallard, Lane and Solomon were all overagers this year in Colts, with Mallard and Lane probably being the most dominant ruckman.

Neale wasn’t an overager and projects more in the FWD/Ruc role rather than dominantly a Ruckman.

Big fellas do take more time so don’t expect them to be running around in the firsts next year.

It's so open this year, it's impossible to know. With the mystery surrounding the Victorians and live trading, I'm not even going to bother doing a mock draft this year. Just no point. I think there'll be players picked in the second round that nobody on BigFooty has even talked about. Especially with teams having very few picks. If we're going to take Walker and Western, our second pick might be our last live pick - given we'll be taking Banfield in the rookie draft. So we may have a surprise player we like.

More well known players like Ford, Winder, Neale, Baldwin and Callow could all be there. Victorian talls Rosman, McMahon and Allison could be in the mix. We might choose to go early on a mature aged guy like Waterman or Bockman. Maybe a WA bolter in Hunter or Martin.

Nothing would surprise me this draft.
