Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Another name that I'm interested to hear thoughts on is Ned Long. I asked Josh Ward who's the best player he's played along with & he said Ned Long, beautiful kick and good size. His weaknesses are agility & speed.
Smythe on the draft board says that he’s heard we like Long.

problem is he’s a slowish inside mid, not great by foot. 😒

i keep changing my mind on who i want, but im coming to a final conclusion and that is

Pick 7 - Josh Ward (Northern Knights) - outside/inside mid (plus a hawks supporter) - wont be disappointed with Hobbs or Erasmus though
Pick 24 - Paul Curtis (Western Jets) - one of the best small forwards in the draft - could also be a Knevitt, JVR, Bazzo or Chesser ect
Pick 26 - Connor MacDonald (Dandenong Stingrays) - accumulator mid with skill and class

late picks i would like a Josh Browne(East Frem) or Angus Sheldrick(Claremont) both Hawks supporters from WA and solid to good midfielders from WA that destroyed SA's midfield in their 3 game series as well as very good Colts performances.

ok Santa, deliver me my presents now.......... :D

Haven't heard of Paul Curtis before today. Are you the main one rating him this highly? What are his strengths and weaknesses?
Also is he a mature aged recruit? (Over 38? Don't see many young Paul's these days).

he is a small forward from the Western Jets, has been talked about by people in the know (draft watchers ect) but not much about him from the general public i guess, probably because he doesnt have a highlights reel yet? draft age small forward played for Western Jets and one of the best half dozen players for Vic Metro this year, kicks around 2 goals a game at Nab League kicked a few goals for Vic Metro(VM would have dominated the state games i think), secretly wanted him in the Bigfooty Phantoms but i always missed out so i thought we might have to pull the trigger with pick 24, also seems like we are one team along with Port and the Bulldogs who are interviewing him which i just saw from an article apparently from a few days ago, so this timing is weird.

Hey Davo. Was watching a bit of the last WA vs sa game this morning and Josh Browne really stood out to me. I know you had mentioned him before. What you think is his range? Seems a good size and good work around the contest for a skinny fella

i have said for most of the year i like him in the 2nd round, but he could slide to a late pick, he is a hawks supporter too, i liked the look of him from last year when i saw him play for the East Frem Colts and this year has averaged 32.4 disposals and has a good inside/outside game(3 good games for WA in the state series too), so i like him as a pick for us, but he is another player not getting the hype some others are atm.

Yeh I rated his speed and work rate. He was everywhere, both inside and outside the contest. Brought alot of pressure on their mids and was a tidy user.

On those numbers looks like he can find it also. Love Brady hough from that side also. Great composure and plenty of development left. Reminds me of Tom lynch from adelaide

yea i liked Brady Hough too, had a good forward game and a good winger game so very versatile(in the WA V SA series).

Likely to be available at one of our selections in the 20's.

Looks like a balanced midfielder who is quite comfortable taking the game on and doesn't appear too rushed from these highlights.

Very left foot dominant.

Comparing potential FBs. I was keen on Bazzo but maybe Dean is the value pick... or just stick with Callow.

Rhett Bazzo
Heiht: 195cm Weiht: 81kg DOB: 10/10/2003
Athletic and kicks well, ? on the double grabbing …

Charlie Dean
Height: 195cm, Weight: 86kg, DOB: 19/06/2001
Kicks the ball well, and has good hands, ? on whether he is athletic enough?

Dean is the value pick. One thing that has gone a little under the radar with dean is that he ran around 6:20 for the 2km Strava run test. That's right up there in the top bracket for endurance.

Edit. It was 6.10 which is pretty elite
