It would be hilarious if he pulled out the exact same excuse bailey smith did to get to the dogs..and the AFL tried to handle it any differently to how they did with smith. It would be a lawyers field day from horne's perspectiveimagine if horne told north he wants to stay in SA. I guarantee they would b*tch to the afl and the afl would now start calling it draft tampering. its ok if vic kids do it though. it would be a problem because horne is clearly the best player in the draft by a long way.
Depends on the spoon, 2020* was the wooden spoon*.Can’t say I care about another spoon.
What matters is getting out of the quagmire with the best opportunities for success, not crawling out and staying only 2 feet ahead of the mess
All good, I did mention it in the sense imagine if it did happened we would be making out like banditsMaybe i misread but i thought you mentioned a pick after our 1st which i took as band 1 but i'll stand corrected if i misread
Not really, Wingard did the same.imagine if horne told north he wants to stay in SA. rumours surrounded fog too..Not really, Wingard did the same.
I'm sure someone from GWS confirmed this about Wingard many years later so it wasn't a rumour.rumours surrounded fog too..
I suppose the point I was trying to make is that just by getting Horne, it is no guarantee that we will win a premiership. Also, how do we know Horne will be better than any of the other top rated mids who are only now starting to get the chance to show how good they are. I would rather not try to get a spoon just on the chance Horne MIGHT be better than other mids in the top 5. Personally I hate..HATE our club being a wooden spooner and that stigma stays forever.
Fair enough..each to their own I guess. We all have the same hope for the club (except FAITH..he didn't want ThilthorpeI don’t really see that the stigma exists all that much
Meh.
)West Coast got a spoon in 2010 and picked up Gaff and Darling.I don’t really see that the stigma exists all that much
Meh.
they got Gaff at pick 4 and Darling at pick 26..we will have very similar picks if we finish 3rd bottom and avoid the spoonWest Coast got a spoon in 2010 and picked up Gaff and Darling.
A flag, two grand finals and consistent finalists since then is all anyone remembers.

What was the point?Way to miss the point.
Yeah Dew needs to go.From the mouth of a current AFC players dad whom I’ve gotten good mail from before
“Both Rankine and Lukosious have made it known to AFC, they are keen to get back to SA”
GC are a rabble , Dew has lost some of the players to the point he’s a mockery with his obesity when getting stuck into players about effort
Many senior coaches his age are still in shape
Think it’ll be staggeredYeah Dew needs to go.
Don't see a way to get Rankine and Lukosius in the one offseason however.
Would rather we get horne and dumont than keep m crouch. Don't forget horne is included in this deal.would rather we keep mcrouch than get dumont..
we need classy midfielders.. that aint dumont.
Yeah Dew needs to go.

We need rankine more than luko. Our small forwards are pretty meh. Especially mcadam.Yeah Dew needs to go.

It would want to be a long and very lucrative deal for any player to want to go up there to that shitshow let alone Matt Crouch whose family and that of his partner are based in Ballarat. Can’t see GC letting either go easily, I think we’re more likely to see Dew turfed and the AFL assist in installing a Paul Roos or Ross Lyon to right the ship, plus perhaps with Voss as senior assistant/heir apparent. Then hold both Luko/Rankine to their contracts and hope the new regime could convince them to stay.
The trouble with both Rankine and Luko is making a reasonable deal. They’re both at an awkward point in their value, neither have shown enough to increase their value, Rankines shown his elite talent in patches, but also shown his inconsistencies. Lukosious has been good, but not outstanding to any extent, playing the relatively easy 3rd tall role. Their worth to the GC at present is likely far greater than what any club will be willing to give up:
The trouble is neither satisfies our biggest need of elite midfielders, which are likely available this draft. If GC are interested in Crouch, it may be that we agree not to contest an RFA offer in exchange for Lukoscious —> 2022 1st and one of our 2021 2nds, with the inevitable even ups.
I can’t see GC letting either go though whilst contracted.

Don't mean to be rude but a 2nd round pick for a much hyped contracted Izak Rankine is just about the most ridiculous post I've seen for quite a while.
Some people on this board have been posting variants of this theme for as long as I've been on here.
"Early draft picks are no guarantee of success. We should try our best to win every game because that's how you build a successful culture"
History has proven that to be disastrously wrong.
In fact, that way of thinking is how we actually did end up with a wooden spoon.
