Not initially anyhow.Callaghan looks great, the reality for him is he isn't going to the Bulldogs no matter what, Adelaide GWS and GC a real possibility. It's the nature of drafting.

Probably nothing but maybe he's not fussed about moving away from SA?If Perkins said what he said, what is stopping Horne-Francis from saying the same thing??
What the player actually has to directly say can be very minimal in this regard.Probably Perkin's ruling out only 8/18 clubs where as Horne-Francis would be ruling out 16/18. In saying that Wingard was similarly rated as a junior (slightly less hyped) did the same thing and was okay
Get it done Crows!!Maturity & a sense of adventure maybe?!!If Perkins said what he said, what is stopping Horne-Francis from saying the same thing??

Not this draft, but two years down the line at an interstate club when he has the power to choose his employer?
Good luck keeping him as an interstate club, because that deck is completely stacked against them.
Jack Gunston says hi.
Red flags there family wise
Finn Callaghan has close family ties to a current AFL coach.
It might not concern you but it's there.
Which is why he played 12 games in 2011, as a 2nd year player - more than any other tall forward from his draft class? I call bullshit. In fairness we didn’t manage a kid with obvious talent very well. Coaches made it clear to him early in the season he was 7-8-9th in line for a forward spot. Jack said fair enough and put out feelers and Hawthorn bit hard - and then injuries have Jack a run in the team and he broke out as a potential star. That’s why kids need to be given a taste of AFL early - assuming they are doing the correct things in Sanfl - to get them hooked in to the club

Gunston was weak as p**s.That's not how I remember it
Yep, totally get it, for every Sloane/ Wines there is a Danger/ ... actually it doesn't happen to Port, just Adelaide.
James Aish begs to differ...Did I mention Port at all? We've all had our brushes with players going home, or in Port and West Coast case, about too.
Its not even "we should avoid Victorians" either, it's "we should avoid Victorians who have deep family connections to certain clubs/the league itself with high draft picks".
That group no interstate club has a hope to hold on to unless they're low draft picks/or recycled players.
Mind you, it's quite likely the inverse holds true and interstate clubs have little to no chance to hold on to kids with connections to SA footballing royalty, Brad Ebert as an example.
Murley at 40 would be niceMutineer
Methinks you would like this if it played out this way (caveat being we won't have pick 23 which will be used for Dawson)
Draft Expert - PMBangers' 2021 Draft Board - Come for the R1 phantom (post #1591), stay for the Simpsons references
Would you rather have one player from tier 2, or two players from tier 3? Depends what the situation is but probably two tier 3 players, especially if I'm a club that's currently in finals like the lionswww.bigfooty.com
West AdelaideI would suggest Ol PMBangers has been peeking at our threads too coincidental getting Goater & a small fwdMutineer

West AdelaideDear god, rookies, cooked players and some dead set spuds in thereYou didn't mention Port, that was my comment to imply that there is an Adelaide Crows factor to all this, highlighted by Port keeping Wines (and Boak).
I can't argue at all that Victorian high draft picks won't cause anxiety for us each year they are to come out of contract, probably each year in contract too given the trades that happen in contract nowadays.
I note that Callaghan is considered a 'special case' given he is a cousin of Luke Beverage - giving us a lifetime of anxiety and then regret.
I just also hate to think that we are stuck drafting SA talent, which is ok recently but you don't have to think back very far to remember the dearth of top ten talent from SA up to about 2017.
This 2020 state of origin team (fox sports) demonstrates my point:
B: Rory Laird (Adelaide), Tom Jonas (Port Adelaide), Shannon Hurn (West Coast Eagles)
HB: Brodie Smith (Adelaide), Phil Davis (Giants), Caleb Daniel (Western Bulldogs)
C: George Hewett (Sydney Swans), Jack Redden (West Coast Eagles), Jared Polec (North Melbourne)
HF: Shane Edwards (Richmond), Justin Westhoff (Port Adelaide), Connor Rozee (Port Adelaide)
F: Eddie Betts (Carlton), Scott Lycett (Port Adelaide), Orazio Fantasia (Essendon)
FOLL: Brodie Grundy (Collingwood), Brad Ebert (Port Adelaide), Lachie Neale (Brisbane Lions)
I/C: Shaun Burgoyne (Hawthorn), Chad Wingard (Hawthorn), Trent Dumont (North Melbourne), Hamish Hartlett (Port Adelaide)
EMER: Wayne Milera (Adelaide), Jordan Dawson (Sydney Swans), Bryce Gibbs (Adelaide), Will Hayward (Sydney Swans)
Bevo is husband of his mum's cousin ... Callaghan, that is...

If I was Callaghan, I wouldn’t to play for a relative, I’m not sure if it’s that big a threat unless he’s a mad Bulldogs supporterBevo is husband of his mum's cousin ... Callaghan, that is![]()
