Has it been asked of Port whether Gupta has paid up for the sponsorship, or do the media not want to know the answer to that!
I would think not.

GFG/,Whyalla have been struggling to pay suppliers for a while. Pushing terms out/late paying. Cash flow has dried up.

You would think an AFL club sponsorship would be paid after suppliers to run the business have been paid.

Far more important to keep families employed rather than fund a business that makes 20Somethings millionaires through kicking a Footy around.

Cop the form on the archery too. Has this potato ever seen someone shoot an arrow? You don't hold the bow or the arrow like a ******* pair of tweezers.
Terrible anchor, terrible front arm position and what the **** is he doing with his thumb????

Good, honest player.

Big challenge with their backups injured, opportunity for a journeyman ruck in the mid season draft?
probably another contoversial opinion but.. this is where the NRL’s “player loan” policy would come in handy for the AFL..

the Suns could borrow another ruckman off another team.. one that cant get a run because they arent the first choice ruck..

just gives players greater opportunity to build an AFL career.. and the club that is lending the player doesnt have to trade him at all.. but can benefit from their player, who might be a younger less experienced player, getting AFL experience under their belts. Better experience than they’d get playing in the shit leagues..

Anyone hear Jimmy Rowe’s dad on the radio interviewing Jake Kelly. Was practically having a go at Jake for getting Dangerfield suspended.

sh*t Rowie is back on my shitlist.
That was garbage, Jake had a go at him about it too.

Hardwick mentioned it during a presser today.

Reckon it's a great idea that leaves the State Leagues alone.

Wow... how far can their heads get up their own arses?..

this is a club that has, since 2017 at least, had the softest draws, got to around round 16/17 each year as a dominant team only to fall in a complete heap from that point onwards in each season..

they are nowhere near as good as they think they are.. they just have a heap of media mates like rooch and cornes that pump their tyres up and they just seem to always get these soft draws handed to them.

on top of that they are $10 million in debt.. and constantly have their hand out wanting more.

I mean, I'm sure every club plans to go undefeated every year. But its pure floggishness to say it in the media. Hope they lose this week too, top 4 would be looking wobbly then
Nah... you watch, they’ll win this week comfortably and the “yeah, we’re the shit” brigade will start blowing its own trumpet again..

Afterall the best thing port and its fans are good at is drinking its own bathwater..

Interesting article about hawthorn losing out in trade with Port with wingard. Look, the way I view it, hawks lost out on all of their big gun trades. Mitchell and O'Meara have to be the least impactfull high possession midfielders in the comp. Wingard while x factor had genuine stars around him to deliver him the ball Hawks don't have that and it really was a trade by name rather than trade by due diligence. In the exact same way as Lever went to Melbourne.

Patton was always an injury prone hail mary and Impey has always been a plodder. Kudos to Port they traded well. Hawks should be crucified for their stupid trading over development. Geelong also appears to be running out of luck in trading in stars from other clubs.

Seriously, who would ever think they ain’t going to lose a game? What does that do for your psyche when the dream is shattered.

It is the same that people think North Melbourne won’t win a game. They will, when? Who knows but it will come just like it did for us last year, we were always going to win a game at some stage.

Even Fitzroy won a game in 1996

Would be a good opportunity for guys like Fog to actually get games instead of being trapped under a glass ceiling at reserves level. McAsey could also go back to Victoria earlier and maybe increase his trade value slightly.

What happens if you lend a player to another club and they play so well you want them back in your team, or your own player goes down and then you need them?

I guess this is where this little rant goes ... had a chat to a local fella who is a mad Power supporter (I'm in Hobart) and he was spelling out for me why we are stuffed as a club.

His main three points were:
  1. When Tex goes down we have no-one to fill his spot
  2. Sloane is a dog of a person and a worse leader
  3. All of our young players have less talent than their contemporaries from other clubs (ie no-one would swap their 6 best young talents for our 6 best young talents).
He is a genuinely good bloke except when AFL is involved, so I just laughed and said go Eagles and moved on.

I actually strolled over to the Power board today to see what was happening with SPP, but was side-tracked into their "General talk" thread where I basically saw the ideas listed above parroted from many of the fine gentlemen who seem to be part of that community.

The one that really got me most confused was the Sloane stuff. It appears that power supporters genuinely hate Rory, see him as a gutless - useless - diving - free-receiving machine. The polar opposite to my view on our captain. I know there will be those types of words from that channel for whomever is our captain ... but it did strike me as very well entrenched over there. On the upside they do seem genuinely confused by Tex ... and the same old cracks showing up in an early round have done nothing for their belief.

Anyway, my reason for posting was ... to see how these points sit with others on our board. I know some people are against playing Tex with Thilthorpe / Fogarty / Himmelberg waiting in the wings. I know of at least one regular poster who despises Sloane. I keep seeing so much about how bad we drafted on here when compared to EVERYONE else.

For me ... I love seeing Tex fit and in full flight, Thilthorpe and Fogarty and Himmelberg can make their own way without our current best player just stepping aside. I love what Sloane brings to the team. I think our list is looking pretty good from an ongoing development pov, whichever picks they were drafted at.

I have no idea where they're coming from with their Rory hatred. Sloane is none of the things they ascribe to him. You have to be mentally unstable to be a Port Adelaide supporter at the best of times, so I guess this is just another symptom of their mental deficiencies.

They do have a valid point about Tex, who is definitely closer to the end of his career than the start. Billy is literally worse than useless (less AFL rating points than a player who didn't even play last week). Himmelberg appears to have reverted to his normal self (proving late 2020 to be an abberration). Fogarty will never make it as an AFL forward, which is why they're hoping against all hope to turn him into a midfielder. That leaves Thilthorpe as our great white hope - a young kid, who has yet to make his debut. It's a lot of pressure to be heaping on the shoulders of a very young lad.

As for the quality of our youngsters... only time will tell. If they're referring to Fogarty & Jones (both 1st round draft picks), then they have a valid point. If they're talking about Sholl, Butts, McPherson, and Berry, then they're talking out of their arses.

Sloane has his faults. Namely breaking a tag and his leadership appearing to be less than expected (based on the limited snippets we see).

But I think most Port fans have a fair bit of respect for Sloane as a player and a bloke and for a long time he was considered the one player we would want to cross the ditch if we could get one. Talk of him being slagged on the Port board is way overstated.

As far as Tex goes we all saw the resurgent blip Tredrea had before disappearing into the sunset and probably recognize the same with Tex (to be fair none of us predicted the blip, I thought he was WELL done, so we could have that wrong too).

As far as the kids go, especially your first rounders, I think that is pretty valid criticism.

Was Charlie Dixons resurgent blip last year? Because he's got no excuses this year, and he looks far off the pace.

Its strange to hear negative comments about Sloane, I dont know the guy but he appears a decent person and of character.

I havent given up on Fog just yet as a forward, has shown potential. I still would love to see how he goes with Tex being the major weapon in the Crows forwardline, without being the main focus.

TT is the great white hope. But I think with the way the Crows have progressed so far, it does take the pressure of him, at least it should.

Port have got better weapons in Marshall and Georgiades.

Has Marshall really advanced that much? I see Georgiades becoming a fantastic player. But is Georgiades a better player than McAdam? Keeping in mind their FWD line is getting the rub of the green in Port obliterating teams with their inside 50 count
