Currently trying to write a cover letter for a job application which a neighbour has put me on to - there's at least one position opening up at the business he works for, so he said to get my application in & he'll drop my name to the a higher up to ensure they look at my resume

He said even if I'm unsuccessful for this role he expects at least 1 more to open up sooner than later as there's a nice guy who works there but he isn't really up to the role

Getting this shit right for any application is hard enough, but feel like I'm giving myself added pressure right now to ensure its right and that I'm addressing all requirements so I don't look like an under-qualified idiot applying fo this role

And the question I'm finding most annoying on job applications - What is your expected salary?

I seriously have no idea especially when it's not a role I've directly worked in before; trying to not over price myself out of it but also don't want to undercut things and look too cheap, lol

if it's a job you've been head hunted for, then sure that's a question for an employer to put to you - "what salary would it take for you to join us"...

But on an application it's just so annoying

I've come from a background working in not-for-profit, so it was expected of us to be charitable in our employment and be willing to accept what may be considered a lower wage - unless you were the CEO and then you got paid big bucks for doing shit all...
