Even worse than Sharknado?

Yes

A key difference between the two is that Sharknado knew it was stupid and played up to the over the topness

The Room was being totally serious but was shit

Certainly feels like RIP World Football today. Absolutely disgusted at my club.

my boss came to me in disbelief and asked if id seen the news today...

id heard murmurs of this for years, but completely took me by surprise. horrible, horrible decision.

takes the romance entirely out of the sport. not to mention the potential for players like foden, de bruyne, haaland, son, messi and hundreds of others to be forced between huge pay days at their clubs in the 'super league' and potentially never playing in another world cup.

i hate to jump to extremes, but id find it hard to summon passion to follow city any longer, and the EPL would be fractured beyond belief.

imagine being brentford if they secure promotion - first time in their history, and they end up in some mangled premier league.

They're saying 3.7 million bucks.
Actually a surprisingly low waste of money for this government.

I know right - it's kinda sad when you're happy that the amounted of tax payer money wasted is only $3.7 million

I haven't really followed the round ball game for over 10 years but looking into it a bit:

Under the proposals, the ESL campaign would start in August each year, with midweek fixtures, and the clubs would be split into two groups of 10, playing each other home and away.

The top three in each group would qualify for the quarter-finals, with the teams in fourth and fifth playing a two-legged play-off for the two remaining spots.

From then on, it would have the same two-leg knockout format used in the Champions League before a single-leg final in May at a neutral venue.

Must be from the same people that advised CA around the big bash. How many games do they want? 18 home & away league games, two leg play off for 4th/5th, two leg playoff for the quarters and semis, then the one leg final. In theory they could play 25 games on top of domestic leagues.

I know the Glazers own United and it looks like they are the main protagonists of this but how many of the other clubs involved have foreign owners that don't give a stuff about the actual football. Is it possible they have read the room wrong and the backlash from fans, and maybe even some players, will bring them down or are people just going to cop it sweet and keep consuming after the initial outrage.
