Hmm, feels incompetent to me.

How do we interpret FactnotFiction's cryptic cunnington picture now? Bad mail? He seems to be very accurate in the past? Change in approach since?

either way, we got shafted. This club never ceases to amaze me with this sh*t.

I've seen a few trade calculators say it's the equivalent of between pick 33 and 38 (roughly)... the number on the players jumper was 34. FactnotFiction2021 said looks about right. So you could argue he was on the money.

Knew you’d come round DY.
😂
My anger is sharp and hard then as soon as the prefontal cortex gains control of the amygdala its all sweet.. some times it takes a little longer, especially out on the sauce and if there are tin rattling thaigirls or essendope flogs hangin around it takes a lot of effort to stop belting em. this decision is now done and CCJ is a Roo. **** yeh

As we know the Pies need points and maybe we can confirm to them that we won't bid on Daicos and in exchange they can swap Pick 27 to us for 42 and 47. Which is probably called draft tampering but Picks 1, 20 and 27 sounds quite nice when we already have Edwards and Coleman Jones.

I reckon people should settle down just a touch. A couple of assumptions:

1. highly (probably certain) we were getting no compo for Taz
2. we still have the PSD for someone who might yet fall out.

Then look at the straight pick swaps, assuming we finish bottom again:

View attachment 1256051

In other words, we paid what we said we would - pick 38, and it should be noted, the 'risk' is on Richmond's side, because the future 2nd valued above assumes we finish bottom - we go up the latter, and the value difference decreases much quick for the future 2nd than it does for the future 4th

Agree completely. Can't judge anything until draft is done at the earliest and that's assuming we don't have anything else planned.

That 2nd round pick is also maximum value this year, there is no guarantee whatsoever of its value next year. Very few clubs end bottom twice in a row.

but that's how the system works.....

Well, they're only worth the 'equivalent' pick if someone agrees to trade said equivalent pick. Until then they're just ordinary picks that we're desperately trying to equate with a higher pick based on points value. If we didn't feel they were ordinary picks, we wouldn't be breaking out the points calculator.

The only time I see those calculators come out is when we're either (1) trying to justify another club giving up a grouse pick to us for several shit ones; or (2) trying to cope with getting ordinary picks when we feel the trade is lopsided.

From what I read the other day Richmond may not have even used those >40 picks?

32yo no way.

About 6 months difference to Smith, the length of the contract and the money is primarily the deciding factor. Smith move to Geelong got Hawks 3rd round pick compensation.

Would absolutely laugh my arse off if Richmond managed to maneuver their way into the Pies' Pick 27 also.

I don't mind the trade to be honest, seems fair on both sides. We're obviously keen on going a bit harder in this draft and collected some addition points, which I can only assume will be part of grander plans.

I think we're overlooking the fact that we got a really nice prospect in CCJ. He'll help our team immensely both now and the future.

Like many have said here, it's a free hit at whoever is left over at the PSD. Probably have someone in mind all along, which could be the reason for not walking CCJ to the PSD

Whenever I see free hit it reminds me of the dribble we used to justify getting r*ped by Port on the Polec trade.

we're all entitled to a view - mine at that moment is that combined with the MSD, we have JHF, CCJ, Jacob Edwards, pick 20 and now a bunch of picks in the 40s to see what else we can do this year. More to play out, but the list is stronger now than it was at the start of the year
Yes we are in a stronger position But it is not through good management but finishing on the bottom of the ladder.

It would be thereabouts... if we weren't on the bottom. That is a pretty significant factor though. Also, I think we sold Tarrant cheaply, Can't see how Smith would get a 3rd round pick last year and Tarrant wouldn't get similar. Similar age, same terms, Tarrant wasn't moving on minimum wage, they offered him more than we did.

Yeah but that’s the Hawks.

Just watched his highlights, I’m happy.

North Melbourne has knocked back big offers for pick No.1 and won't budge while Greater Western Sydney will hold firm with its No.2 selection for now with the possibility to sliding back closer to the draft for the right offer.

Gold Coast at pick No.3 and Adelaide at No.4 have both been interested at pushing up the order, while Hawthorn has tried to improve its draft position too but is at this stage considered unlikely to move from No.5.

I’m fine with it. We could have been absolute jerks but I look at players who have walked themselves to PSD (Hatley, Martin) and it doesn’t usually end well. We get the best kid in the country, 3 other young guns and access to a 22 year old 200cm who can catch it and run. Plus we got Edwards for free in the middle of the year who would have gone top 10.

I’m pumped, bring on pre season.
