Rip cerras career
Meh, he will have enough cardboard boxes to last several lifetimes
Besides, gives you a chance to see him at Princess Park doesn’t it Ligma?

The Herald Sun understands West Coast is prepared to offer up pick 52 to Carlton for former pick six Petrevski-Seton, and the Blues would then on-trade that selection to the Dogs for key back Lewis Young.

No this must be wrong.

Original draft position must be weighted into the trade. Richmond supporters told me so.

Therefore Freo will need to find a top 10 pick for SPS. Sorry dockers.

Amazing trade period?

I don't get that tbh.

They are treading water. They've lost a previous top 5 pick who was now one of the best 5 players for another 18 year old who will hopefully be as good in 5 years.

They had their other top 10 pick regardless.

I think it's a good deal for Carlton tbh.

Would you like losing Simpkin and LDU but walk into the draft with Pick 1,4,5. At what cost of the picks makes it not amazing? They haven't offloaded a 28 year old for that pick, they are just replacing someone with 4-5 years of development.
Lost a previous pick 5 but now have 3 inside 20 picks and a gun in Brodie if he can get his shit together.

Do you think it would be amazing to lose LDU?

As for Simpkin, he's definitely ahead, but not way ahead. Cerra finished 3rd in their B&F in 2020 as a 20/21 year old.

No. But if he was adamant on leaving he's only worth would be what we could trade him for. If that was pick #4 AND #5, I'd be more than happy with that.

Simpkin is a year ahead of Cerra. If Cerra wins the Blues' B&F next year and shows Simpkin's leadership qualities, they're even.

Fremantle enormous winners out of this year. Sure, Cerra is a big loss but Clark, Brodie and a heap of picks sets them up to improve what is already a very good young team imo.
Eh. Brodie's been a flop. I don't really rate Clark either (although looking to see what he can do from HB).

So essentially they've lost 4 years of development on Cerra - a known prospect (he will be a really good player) vs. A gamble on an unknown.

Then it is their normal pick for finishing low.

I don't think it's that good tbh because of the unknown from picks 5-20 this year. In other years it might be more definitive but I'd be pretty worried with a pick outside of the top 4 and quite bullish for picks in the teens.

Carlton will secure Dogs defender Lewis Young and West Coast will land Sam Petrevski-Seton as part of a three-way trade being thrashed out on Thursday morning.

The equivalent of a 3 way with Caro and Damo.

Bullshit. How in the world would anyone know that? Its a hypothetical that has never played out as potential trade.
It was posted in the trade thread somewhere.
North made a play and he denied it.
He has wanted out of Saints for a while now.
I'm not overly fazed he is not even close to a superstar.

Why you saying #4 and #5? - Carlton aren't giving them 2 top 10 picks for Cerra

I tend to agree. Cerra leaving was beyond their control and they have done appropriately well in the trade they have negotiated, but that is all. Cerra has the development and is showing all the signs of justifying the top pick he was selected with, they now need to get that pick right again and if they do still wait a few years to develop. It's the best they could have hoped for, but given the choice, they'd rather have just kept Cerra.

We will be the same with our young up and comers. Hopefully we will lock in their contracts early, but if we are developing well and improving, it is possible that we may find ourselves in a similar situation. Sure, at this time of year, when all the talk is about draft picks an extra top 10 pick sounds exciting, but if it was coming at the expense of losing LDU, TT or whoever, there is no doubt we'd prefer to be keeping the player.

I feel the same about the pick 19 trade. Freo have ended up trading out next years 2nd. Based on this year's form that is likely to be a little further away from 19 next year than the same deal might have ended up for us, but even so, the good draft hand this year is coming at the expense of next year. The value in the trade seems to be reliant on the unwanted GC player coming good, to me on a salary dump that should be a bonus. If we trade any future picks to get picks this year, we'd want to be getting great value or have identified a clear talent imbalance between the two drafts. Otherwise, we would just be artificially inflating our draft hand this year and paying the price next year.

If SPS is worth 52, I think we should give Brander a chance with 69, it's a risk but at 69 worth it IMO.

DFA Skinner, possibly pop up in Stengle conversations.

Hit the Draft with 1,20,40 and possibly 1 of 42 or 47 if we can work them into the CCJ trade.

Indeed. What is it that makes everyone want to move to Carlton? Over recent years; well this century; they have a terrible on field record and have managed to turn a lot of players from good players into ordinary. Long may that continue.
