Had to let allir go last year, was one we could have got. The bargains are there, just have to hope the recruiters pick correctly. I wouldn't be going for a player who has done a lot of hard yards. You want the hard yards done at your club ,not theirs. Dawson seems highly rated, but would they let him go? And he is a backman. Hewitt does not seem in an upward curve.
This, Parker has been injury free for 5 years but is 29.
Hanners was also virtually injury free until we signed him.

Florent or Dawson yes. Not really happy about Parker.

Im not keen on any of them Dawson is the same size as about 6 on our list , just because they are having a car boot sale it doesn't mean we have to buy anything

Very good point , he has been a battering ram for them

Have to agree.
Just the age when the “old man” calf issues start to emerge. We really can’t risk it. Again.
( Is Lethers friendly with his old man too? 😉 😳 😬)

I'd take Dawson and Parker off them Florrent is a GOP with scope to improve a lot. Looked good as a junior as a mid but seems to play quite outside at the Swans. Was he Gresh's draft?

Florent is much much better than a GOP. It's surprised me how balanced he is in terms of inside/outside (he's not afraid to get his hands dirty).

He's not a high production inside/outside mid. Less than 20 touches a game. 6 contested possessions, 2 clearances and 2 tackles a game. He's more of an outside mid/winger really. That's fine, but we have enough ok players who can get it 20 times from a wing. He's not one I'd go hard at. He hasn't quite come on as I thought he would.

The Swans news has completely thrown me - I feel like I have had a half a dozen Guinness during the break and I can't tell if I'm looking at the dart board or the toilet door - stand back!!!

Unless someone's throwing stupid money and draft picks at Florent, Hewitt or Dawson, you'd think Parker would be the most likely of those mentioned to be let go.

I actually think reckon Sam Reid would be a perfect fit (except he's never fit) - you'd split the games between him and Paddy next year - in the games where Paddy plays ruck Marshall plays mainly as a forward, when Reid plays, he plays forward and Marshall plays primarily as a ruck.

Just admit you see this as an opportunity for the Saints to finally win the Callum Sinclair Cup [emoji2957]

Sorry for talking about possible players in the trade thread and no I don’t have a fetish for him just think he is a good player

What would you prefer me to talk about in the trade thread

Chin relate weakness...or perhaps compare the listed players with cheeses. You know obvious stuff.

I need to get back to work soon or that's what I'll start to look like.

Quite a few of the swans are like that, very fit, play a role- dont get 30 possies every game. The likes of Heeney, Mills, Parker get a shedful of the ball. A fairly even team with a couple of reliable forwards and solid backline. It didnt do them much good on saturday night though. Wonder if they will go downhill like the Lions did when we touched them up.

Dawson looks very good though.

Swan play him on a wing then sometimes has some inside minutes and a sits off the pack outside mid etc. Suffers from Ratt's Jack of all trades syndrome, as does Dawson.

Wouldn’t trade battle. I know we screw around with his position this year but I reckon we will eventually move him back to chb if we don’t draft one
Battle gets a lot of air time for a player who has done basically not much. Cant even get selected in the side. I know he is injured but when he comes back , he has got a shedful of work to do. Surely he would have been in the side if he was any good.

Yeah Sydney is definitely a team that knows how to spread the load. Their unlikeliness to have any All Australians in the 22, despite having such a strong season demonstrates that. There are layers to the quality of their players though. Mills and Parker still get 28 + 27 touches a week. Both would probably be in the AA squad of 40. I see Florent as being quite a few levels below those two in particular.

it's tough to play consistently good footy when you keep getting moved around. has never really had a chance to settle in one position.

Sydney are understood to be facing a salary cap dilemma ahead of the 2022 season, with a number of star players currently placed in contract situations that could prove to be burdensome.

According to Fox Footy's Tom Morris, the Swans and gun midfielder Luke Parker are currently at a negotiations crossroads as the Sydney star remains unsigned for next season.

The ongoing standoff could be a result of the Swans' tight salary space, as they also share their focus with out-of-contract trio George Hewett, Jordan Dawson and Sam Reid.
Sam reid should retire.
