Riewoldt basically said billing for a first could be right for both the player and club but for a second no. The same position that a lot of posters hold. Dunstan seems out the door to me, when you’ve had the not best 22 chat and then get a modest offer after playing good football the writing is wall and truly on the wall.
And I am ok with Dunstan and Billings going. Need to bring in some more youth. And we already have replacements

Hes a bog average ruckman, his only strength at stoppage is grabbing ball out of the air and teams are onto that now.
Even the Blues game he dominated hit outs against Silvagni (as he should) but we got touched up at stoppage.
I love him as a forward and second ruck but if we want to win finals then I don’t think Marshall as a number 1 ruck works.
I love Marshall in more of a CHF role. He moves incredibly well for a big guy and is right up there for contested marks. Goal kicking isn't a massive strength of his but if he plays mostly forward it should get up to around 1.5 a game

Here's a left field suggestion for ruck depth. Nathan Vardy. 30 years of age. Currently playing wafl. Out of contract.

Gets him one step closer to home before retirement.

Gives us depth for Ryder.

Very left field, most of his career he has been left right out.

The club seems to have got themselves into a spot were we really need to get rid of a lot of players that are just not going to cut it , sure Dunstan , Ross ect are good enough to play in finals but are they going to be in a team that could win a GF , i would say no.
I think we really need to bite the bullet now and get rid of them while we have good core of young players that can all grow together , Im happy for a couple of years of gradual improvement and then having a real shot at winning a flag , not scraping into the 8 making up the numbers which we would have been doing this year had we made it
Yep, I really think not making finals will be the best possible result for us. Shows we have a bit of work to do but will need to get rid of some deadwood.

What do you mean? Any player may not come on?
So because what might happen we don't select these players?
So we just hang on to the failures and never go anywhere?
I genuinely don't understand your post.

No you have both, you don't sack half the list because the kids will seamlessly take over. You know what I'm suggesting.

I think when lethers came in he went down the path of a mini rebuild. They've been churning the list quite well. They've been looking to address the immediate 12-36 months with players like crouch butler Howard Ryder Hill Jones.

Now they have a stronger base of senior talent I have no doubt they're going to be churning what they already have and bringing in more kids to support the likes of steele Gresham Marshall King paton Wilkie byrnes connolly Bytel Clarke coffield.

Make no mistake about it, it's basically a massive purge of trout. It should be obvious to everyone now that he failed massively.

From the 2017 list that Lethlean inherited I'd say there will be 3 to 4 drafted players in our likely best 22 next year if we lose Billings, Dunstan and Ross. That lot has been pretty heavily purged already. Steele, Marshall, Gresham and Membrey the best of the guys left from the total list. Mc Kenzie and Webster might struggle to hold a spot with new recruits and returning players. Lonie, Long, Battle probably struggle to get back in. Joyce good depth if retained.

Lethers has swept already and what is left is legacy contracts and the best of that era.

Dunstan with that one kick in the last quarter into the forward line tells you everything you need to know as to why he is likely to be shopped

You just knew he wasn't going to get anywhere close to hitting a target .... in fact he kicked it to a 2 on 1 wherein the Geelong players were between where the ball went and his Saints target

He kicked it about 40m away from where it should have gone ....... absolute mind numbing

We ain't going to get any better with him and Ross in the side I am sorry to say ..... because their bad is crushingly bad and completely undoes any of their good especially against better teams

We are desperately crying out for speed and skills thru the midfield
Spot on

The Saints have been vocal in their recruitment for key backman over the past several seasons, signing the likes of Dougal Howard, Jake Carlisle and James Frawley.

The latter duo are unlikely to remain at Moorabbin past this year, with Howard to require assistance in defence as Brett Ratten looks to ignite the club's premiership credentials.

Talia would arrive at St Kilda and quickly fill the mould of a reliable defender, albeit at 30-years old come the turn of the year.

The veteran defender would cover the bridge of waiting for younger players to develop while the Saints firm for a top-eight finish and contend toward the top of the ladder across the coming years.

With a premiership alluding him, Talia could see the Saints as an ideal avenue to reach that maiden success in the league after getting narrowly close with the Crows in the past.
At the right price Talia is perfect for 1-2 years while we build back line stocks

Noticed that as well. Absolutely damning.

How was seb ross play in the back line where he couldn't bounce the ball.

Membrey on similar levels of Dunstan and Ross with his inside 50s. Holds it when he shouldn't and blows what should be certain goals.

That dropped mark. Fmd.
I love Membrey but in that moment I was like Eddie Mcguire, I couldn't tell if that was Dean Kent or Membrey
