Might be a good time to rethink continually recruiting mature aged players and apply our recruiters' skills to finding youth through the draft process.
We keep throwing away next years star recruits for this years' shiny mature aged player. Our age profile is starting to accumulate at the upper end again ala Ross Lyon era. Concentrate on kids. Rotate this process once we have a better age profile then we can top up on available mature aged players again.

Our U21 yo cohort consists of 4 players which will drop to 3 players when Winx has his 21st in July
EVERY other club has more youth

Just trying to make it absolutely clear that our focus should not be on mature aged players - time for a youth infusion

So are the other guys mentioned though. Coleman Jones and the guy from Adelaide are both similar types to Marshall.

Tbh, Crossley isn't a great key forward or a great tap ruck but neither is Marshall.

I think two Marshall types would be be able to work though. The fact both can have an influence forward and around the ground would cause some head aches.

I'd love another Ryder but there aren't many around.

I actually think Crossley is probably more of a natural forward than Marshall even.

Nothing at the top or the bottom to be fair. Ross should be our oldest next year potentially and he's going to be 28 along with Hill and Webster. Because we had to patch up our mid career list we had to sell the farm to do it so don't take draft picks. Also like to delete the guys like Parker after a year or two.

Not so sure about that.

VFL is a big step down. He kicked 4 goals in a 100 point win against a poor side. Outside of that his highest is two. He's a long way off that Charlue Dixon comparison.
Bird Man as it stands now what picks do we have come draft time ?

He's not even a year older than Max King and has little exposed form, he's been playing ruck but his strength is more as a forward.

6, 43, 61

Edit: I'm sure we had Richmond's 4th too but it isn't in the indicitive draft order posted about a month back
This is why I think we will let Billings go if someone offers enough for band 1 and have picks 6-7
Tom Morris on SEN Friday was talking about it

I know this sounds crazy but get a top 10 pick for Billings. And also split our first round pick or Billings compo pick into 2 picks. We could recruit 3 kids in the top 15 in a very strong draft due to Covid.

Port Adelaide did something similar and got 3 very good kids and it rejuvenated their side.

If Brad crouch wasn’t band 1 with the contract we gave him not sure how we think billings will be
Because Brad is only on 600K
Was mentioned on SEN North or Essendon could offer enough to trigger band 1

Why in the world would Collingwood do that ?

Here you go you have our 1st round pick and we will miss 12months development on a top 10 pick, just makes no sense
You are right, Ned Guy isn't around anymore.

He's also playing at a lower level than Max King.

Both games I've watched this year he's played mostly as a genuine key forward with Thurlow more in the ruck and to me he doesn't look like the type of player that could make it at AFL level as a key forward only IMO.

The fact he can play both forward and ruck soundly, have an impact around the ground and be aggressive makes him a good prospect though.

I'm all for him, but I just don't see the Charlie Dixon comparison.

We don't need bing we need mids!

We currently have pick 6, I'd also ask the question to the pies for a 1st round pick swap we get there 2021 and they get our 2022.

Giving us pick 3 and 6 currently.

If billings gets band 1 compo he can go too!

Take picks 3, 6 and 7 to draft and get at least 2 mids and maybe another fwd.

Pies don't have a first round pick, Giants have it

And we go and pick up another super speculative KP player in Matt Allison..I hope this post comes back to bite me but honestly with so many mids available we go and pick up a key position player who wasnt expected to go there..so typical of us..just shooting ourselves at every draft
Oh and shock. Poulter is a gun.

I know there is this on-going obsession with us drafting midfielders with every single pick.

But considering we are rolling out McKernan, Frawley and Hunter when our first choice KPPs are injured, doesn't that suggest we need more young KPPs on our list?

There's no obsession with us taking them with every pick but since Gresham we've used one top 40 pick on a mid (Clark) and 3 on key forwards (King, Battle, Allison).

There was no reason we couldn't use a late pick on a key forward.
