This Brad Crouch trade looks to have been a success however it has taken him a while to get his form right we now need to pick up a couple players we desperately need like a marking key CHB and a good ruck or good ruck prospect.
I was really not wanting to let go of Billings but because he has not signed yet he could very well opt to become a free agent and to tell you the truth if we can get a round one pick for him we should take it , the same with Ross.
Use it on elite talent in the draft or to poach a good player.

Having Steele , Crouch , Jones , Gresham , Byrne , Clark should make Ross expendable.
Billings plays his best as a half forward and having Higgins covers him along with Butler and they are both younger.
Crouch has been a great pick up

Didn't help thar we tried to play him as a forward pocket

It's still not the Dogs though. We still lack that elite player that turns games in our favour. Clark and Gresham are developing mids but neither are there yet. Gresham has the tools to become elite and so does Clark in a different way. I'm pretty confident Bytel could still be a gun too. Just looks to have stalled and has had probably the worst development of any player hs age. Missed two years injured, hit the hub and couldn't get games of any worth and now played as a medical sub with limited minutes. He's hardly played any footy for nearly four years.

Watching Sam Walsh become close to elite makes me want to get into the draft and find a gun mid, surely we are due to find a star this year.
Yeah I'm jealous of teams having players that other teams are jealous of. King is gonna be a star but right now only we're hyped about him. It's not his fault but other teams are just laughing at him. Bytel and Byrnes I'm excited about and we all are but to other supporters they're "late picks". This year we've finally got the chance to have that player everyone's pissed they couldn't get.

The way we are heading we should end up with a pick in the top 6 - hopefully we pick up a good player , and if we pick up a first round pick for a free agent we could well have 2 first round picks --- we have to snag one good one eventually.

Goober is a ******* spud that was cut by GC.
Makes Hunter look like Gawn.

Was he cut because of spuddedness, or because he had a illegal substance cloud over his head?

Hunter has averaged more taps than Goober, but is that because Goober was mainly playing forward?
Goober had 9 contested possessions in his first game aged 19, Hunter accumulated 9 contested possessions in his first 3 games aged 28.

Not saying he's great, but he does NOT make Hunter look like Gawn.
Hunters highlights show him winning some hitouts against a shorter opponent in the SAFL.

I'd trade Hill for half of those guys. We could have had Dougal and a draftee and had a bit of old and bit of new. Hill hasn't worked out at all. I can see why we chased him, we were desperate for a big name and he was available.

I have no problem with having a go but it's a fail and talking it up just makes me annoyed with them. Howard was good though, he didn't look like someone worth a FRDP when we got him but he's been very good. We have to start drafting and not getting them so wrong. I don't rate Allison with our FRDP last year and so already worry about Libba but hopefully he's better next time. Highmore looks good but a weird choice seeing as he wasn't a need but I'm guessing he's being given a brief.

We were desperate for outside run, pace and kicking skills.

Hill has been horribly inconsistent but his best shows that he fits the brief.

Jones particularly has always been pretty fragile I can see him ending his career early. Gresham will go either way after missing so much footy he either has a longer career or he has a shorter than average career because of injury. Hill should still be going on his contract though and he's pretty resillient.

The only positive with Gresh's injuries is that they are in no way related. Back stress fractures and then a ruptured achilles.

One possibly overuse/ poor technique & one just a freak of nature.

If it was chronic soft tissues or recurring knees/ shoulders etc then you'd be worried. Hopefully Gresh is inspired by Kevin Durant & comes back from the achilles in the same sort of nick.

We look like we have plenty of decent mids but as you say that high end across all the lines is missing. We tended to take players with issues and the issues always seem to come back 10 fold. My overall impression of our list is that it's beige and low energy. Only Jones and Gresh have any really dynamic pace or energy levels and 2020 Butler perhaps. The rest are a bit like Billings, they do enough to draw a wage but they are tools down as soon as the weather starts to look cloudy.

Petracca, Bont even guys like Oliver, they ratchet up the tempo and change the team dynamic around them so that teams put too much focus in the wrong areas and leave themselves exposed.

Oliver is the one who does that for Melbourne. Petracca is the creme on the top for them... without the Ling lookalike, he'd still be flashy but inconsistent.

The facility at Linton St suggests otherwise

Yes but we’re not the only club that the AFL have helped with new facilities.
North and the Bulldogs too I believe.

The thing about Goober is from his debut game, he looks as if he has that bit of mongrel about him, which we could use in spades. His stats earlier in the VFL season look pretty good to me albeit against Gold Coast, whether he can carry that over to AFL remains to be seen, but would be a handy back up to Roma.
From the 21st May, ex-Sun Brayden Crossley finished with 39 hit-outs, 24 disposals and 2.4
