How do you have to sell off all of your stars? One would have been heaps and we would have had to reload not bottom out. I can understand losing fringe players like Dawson who we couldn't afford to match but this is one of those excuses we always make for them. It was the same as Hanners has been a great leader and done so much more for us than what he does on field.

How would we have contracted for more than the cap could hold? Realistically we should have done what clubs like Geelong and Hawks did and trimmed the fat off and kept reloading through the draft.

Ah probably because our top 10 took up about 70% of the cap. As we discussed the other day, this was a hangover from GT doing contacts & looking after all his boys.

We were about a million over at the end of 2011.

We’re not the only club who have stuffed the cap & had to bleed players. Hell the Pies might have to do it for the 2nd year in a row.

Geelong & Hawthorn were able to do that simply because their cap was never bulging due to over paying multiple players.
