Surely most teams have a Dean Kent lying around? Who’s most unpopular player at the doggies?

As it stands we currently have three draft picks, one first round, one third and one fourth.

Delist: Frawley, McKernan, Carlisle, Roberton, Hunter
Trade out: Lonie and our 4th for a 3rd, Long for a 3rd
Trade in: Cheap moneyball ruckman for one of the third round picks)

Trade our other two 3rd round picks for a 2nd

Draft best available mid with first round draft pick, draft best available key back with the 2nd.

Keep open other 4 list spots for mid season draft or future list reductions.

People keep saying delist Carlisle but we are so short on key defenders that if he is healthy we should give him another one year deal

We'll be hoping that Owens slips through the first 20 so we can get him cheap.

McKenzie is just a good fill in if someone is injured , I doubt he will ever be best 22.

Talking about midfielders as well no one has ever considered Coffield or Paton could easily develop into midfielders - I would believe they would say they would like to have a crack at it but having Connolly , Byrne , Clark and Bytel it is going to be hard to let everyone have a go and this year we pick up Owens , Windhager and a guy like Callaghan or Erasmus with our 1st round pick Sandringham are going to have a pretty good team and hopefully we get a couple standout players from that lot - but whoever we get this year in the draft will be a couple years away from cementing a spot in the team.

I believe we have the cap space to fit in a Kelly and knowing Gabby Allen drafted him to GWS we could well have a chance in securing him.
He would be the ideal player to complete our midfield.
Agreed. Backup at best who tries hard. Another one to improve "training standards" without playing would be my ideal scenario.

He's back to being meh. He's had his month of glory as he does every few seasons to trick the club (or hopefully a different club) into giving him another contract, now it's back to mediocrity.
His 29 disposals and 10 clearances - most on the field - last week was super mediocre.

We still got pumped by Sam Walsh who was Dunny's direct opponent for half the game. If Dunny was 1/5th as damaging with the ball as Walsh or Steele then maybe there'd be something to work with but frankly all he does is cough up the ball either directly or by stitching up the teammate he's giving a hospital pass to.

Walsh and Steele are two of the top 10 players in the competition. Not being as good or as damaging as them is hardly an insult or a realistic expectation.

We all know that Dunstan will never be the greatest disposer of the ball, but he wasnt alone in that last week nor was he our worst. Crouch, Steele, Marshall and Jones were just as bad, if not worse, yet aren't getting any criticism for their woeful disposal. Funnily enough, Ross is the only other person copping criticism for their disposal yet used it the best out of all our mids last week.

God I hope Clark comes good next year , we need a player who can be that link player to get the ball to a player in space.

Geary is a warrior, has put everything into his career with limited natural talent, a braver more courageous player you could not find.
Started at the feet of Ross Lyon so got a good grounding, has played most of his career in a poor team, so respected he was made captain.
The vision of his leg opened up to ward off compartment syndrome was pretty gruesome.
A club needs players like Geary, like Jason Blake before him, wholehearted and never shirks a contest....

....but, his time has come, we need to move on, he should have retired.
He is a great clubman and a year list clogging or taking a young blokes spot is not what his legacy should be.
Worse still we have a Membrey situation where an aging star decides to go around for another year so they leave. Imaging if say Coffield does that because Geary is taking his spot.

Dunstan has always been tough and shown leadership but I realize the guy is leaving the club , knowing they had gone past him and they only played him because they run out of options - the turn around in form with him McKenzie and Webster was most probably seeing there football careers flash before their eyes while they were out of the side and once they received the chance again they made the most of it.

Being a inside mid his job is to get clearances and when you win the hitouts 50 to 10 you would expect us to do well in that department , the only thing is our link up players are no where to be seen , this were we need a Kelly type.

These lockdowns help us with that. I just hope he gets to us.

Walsh had 3 clearances to Dunny's 10. Dunny had 29, Walsh 26. Walsh got us up forward where he kicked 3 goals though. Carlton brought the pressure for that one and all our mids struggled, Dunny 15 CPs, Walsh 11. Steele and Ross were our only mids with better disposal efficiency and both weren't much better. Walsh and Steele are both top 10 mids in the AFL, Walsh will be an absolute superstar possibly even the best player in the comp in the next few years. Expecting Dunny to be better than him is unrealistic but he played a very solid game.

I hope him and Coff get fit in the off season. Both need to take step up.

Interesting that Dunstan cops all the heat yet Crouch gets off with nothing. Had an objectively worse game in disposal efficiency, disposals and HALF THE CLEARANCES. We say there’s too many players that do the same thing but every team does need one player good for a bag of disposals and just thumping it down the other end for a clearance and metres gained. Every team does it even the good ones. Dunstan is genuinely capable of that but not other roles. Steele is capable of much more so we should be utilising his other strengths and letting Dunstan do what he’s good at. Crouch should carve out another niche cause he’s good enough to find one but Dunstan can absolutely play the role of the (only) grunt and clearance machine if everyone else is playing clean disposal footy.

The 4 you mentioned have a body of work to prove otherwise. Dunstan doesn't.

Not to mention I've never been one to bag Ross , I rate him more than most on here.

Crouch was even worse against WC. He's looking like he might be injury restricted, he's dropped right off.

If we’re dropping anyone for Bytel is crouch. Let Dunstan get his guaranteed 25 and 5-10 messy chaos clearances. Bytel to rack up 20 clean disposals and Steele to rack up 35 and 15 score involvements. Seems like the perfect balance. Only one messy accumulator, one developing vanilla clean ball user and one elite kick inside 50

Ross is the epitome of a wipping boy. What he does well generally glossed over and the few bad kicks or handballs he does are extrapolated to all disposals

I think since returning to the side, Dunstan's body of work has been more impressive and he's had more impact than any other mid except Steele. It seems like a lot of the criticism directed towards him recently is based off the player he was in previous years and not based off how he has been playing recently. He's never going to be the best midfielder in a team, but he's been outperforming players most would rate as better than him.

Apologies, didn't mean to direct the Ross comment directly to you.
