I hope we don't go down the road of using recycled players as depth ever again. This year has really shown how much more valuable it is to play the younger guys and see what you have with them. When Hunter and McKernan get delisted at the end of the year we will be much better served going to the draft and using those drafted guys as depth instead

What draft picks do we currently have? Don't we need loads more mid-late ones for the draft points we need to bid on these 2 NGA players we're after, or am I wrong?

Could see a few of our current players getting traded for these low value picks.

What happens if the promise Sharman has turns out similar to Battles promise. What if in 8 years Bytel is Dunstan and Byrnes is Newnes. There are no guarantees these kids will take the next step either. To me we persist and just bring in a few kids every year like most clubs do. Even Geelong and Port always have a couple in playing development while they play finals. It seems like a lot of people think injury ruined our season but then want to start again just in case. I'm not wasting peak Steele rebuilding again if I'm them.
We're not going to be rebuilding next year. Have a great young core of players who should be getting to the level of playing consistently good games. Clark, Gresh, Higgins, Howard, Highmore, Wilkie, Coff, King, Bytel.

We're lacking a inside out mid with skills - but hopefully Bytel or Clark can come into that role. Need to draft best available for that spot too.

Someone to cement 2nd KPD spot - could be Joyce, but we would still need a decent back up whether or not that's Clav?

Desperately need a good 2nd ruck cover, Heath is young- could be him but probably need to get an afl level ruck forward thru trade. We are way too reliant on Ryder, but at the very least we have learnt not to use Hunter or Smack as a 2nd ruck anymore so hopefully won't repeat that mistake next year.

I think we need a good small forward backup. We've been on our small forward merry go round again this year and I'd say only Higgins has actually been good. Long, Kent and Butler have been not good enough. Yeah great pressure and whatever, but you need more. Hit the draft for best available.

As we have seen this year, you are only as good as your depth. So I don't think we should delist more than we have to- the key is having selection integrity - don't play players if their not performing. I'd definitely keep Ross, because he is a handy versatile player. Billings as well. Spook let go if we can get a good compo pick - love him as a Sainter, but if we really want to have Clark and Bytel getting midfield minutes he is probably surplus to requirements, especially with drafting a couple of mids.

I can see that being a factor if we do push some of those guys out. This is the last year the nga players will be of real worth. We can make up the points next year but I doubt we want to do that. We hold our first round pick then something like 46 and 54.

Eddie Betts will play his last game this week- will get 350 up. A good career with 638 goals so far
Not a big fan since he king hit one of our young fellas and broke his jaw. Cute little Eddie can go and get ****ed.

That's dreamland stuff. The club just can't afford a couple of more years to build without it starting to hurt membership and interest. Another 4 year bottom out rebuild would see the last few kids lose interest and Tassie just pushed the urgency up a level.

The fans nearly tore the place down when we didn't front up this year. The president has said next year is going for a flag so unless half the players walk out or some calamity happens we aren't going to do that. Rarely works either, kids need a balance of older players to take the heat off them or it takes twice as long.

Also the promising kids we have are exactly like Battle, Long from a few years ago or Dunstan and Billings from a the period before. There is no guarantee that this lot will actually make it to an elite standard. All it would achieve is removing the disappointment from in front of your eyes and delaying the pain of watching them.

The rebuild is going to be what it is, I actually hope they don't change course now, that would be the worst possible outcome. Like getting half way up Everest and deciding that you preferred surfing.

Hopefully we scrape into the 8 a couple of times and then build up to a flag.
Some of the posts on here make me laugh - people say we need a rebuild with one of youngest lists in the AFL - take out Geary , Frawley , Carlisle , Roberton , McKernan who should be delisted we have the youngest list.(all of them hardly played as well)
We will be pick up at least 5 kids in the draft and maybe a couple others to fill holes in the list and the list has just about been totally turned over.
With kids like King , Bytel etc developing the future is bright - now it's all up to the players.
If King plays like he did in the first 10mins of the Cats game , we have one of the best players in the competition there.

We currently have pick 8, 45 and 63.

We dont need to trade away players to get late draft picks. If we really need late picks, we should trade next years late picks rather than players. before we start trading players for them.

Yep cleaned up Wright and broke his jaw in a pointless act, left the ground to do it as well he’d get 6 for that today. I’ve enjoyed watching him him play but like most players who play that many he’s certainly had his moments.

Wow was that Eddie, I completely forgot that one... yeah how many weeks today? Late, off the ground, broken jaw... vs St Kilda he'd probably get off.

You dont like roma in the ruck?

Hes a bog average ruckman, his only strength at stoppage is grabbing ball out of the air and teams are onto that now.
Even the Blues game he dominated hit outs against Silvagni (as he should) but we got touched up at stoppage.
I love him as a forward and second ruck but if we want to win finals then I don’t think Marshall as a number 1 ruck works.

People called for a mini rebuild, if this comes to being, there it is, if you add the likes of Sharman, Connelly, Byrnes, Bytel, and Highmore in.
I think when lethers came in he went down the path of a mini rebuild. They've been churning the list quite well. They've been looking to address the immediate 12-36 months with players like crouch butler Howard Ryder Hill Jones.

Now they have a stronger base of senior talent I have no doubt they're going to be churning what they already have and bringing in more kids to support the likes of steele Gresham Marshall King paton Wilkie byrnes connolly Bytel Clarke coffield.

Make no mistake about it, it's basically a massive purge of trout. It should be obvious to everyone now that he failed massively.

I agree with this. I think we need to be building for life after Ryder. Which could be as soon as 2023 if he managed to play a full season in 2022. Reality is he could break pre season.

Hes probably our most impactful player tbh.

Hunter shouldn't be on an AFL list. So we need to abandon that idea.

We need a better option. Problem is no ones coming just to play VFL.

100% this list will look quite different next year. Miles from what it looked like under Richo. We are on the right track. Have faith

Can’t argue with that from what I’ve seen this year.
Turns out the Draper chase was the right call, shame he stuck with the cheaters.

The Saints have been vocal in their recruitment for key backman over the past several seasons, signing the likes of Dougal Howard, Jake Carlisle and James Frawley.

The latter duo are unlikely to remain at Moorabbin past this year, with Howard to require assistance in defence as Brett Ratten looks to ignite the club's premiership credentials.

Talia would arrive at St Kilda and quickly fill the mould of a reliable defender, albeit at 30-years old come the turn of the year.

The veteran defender would cover the bridge of waiting for younger players to develop while the Saints firm for a top-eight finish and contend toward the top of the ladder across the coming years.

With a premiership alluding him, Talia could see the Saints as an ideal avenue to reach that maiden success in the league after getting narrowly close with the Crows in the past.

Grant burge, I had a few bottles years ago the wine had great reviews but I was underwhelmed.
Depends on the bottle as depending whether it's a good one. Some Grant burgess are good, some not.
