Let’s hope Ben decides his career and well-being will be better off elsewhere. The AFL can’t stop Ben leaving if he wants to leave and ignors the cash…maybe a ring of steele around Metricon..??
Can get a bit tricky if the AFL threaten the saints with the big stick as they can do with dependent clubs. May need to be a bit like the Buddy - GWS - Swans fiasco to get it done.

Watch $2million in AFL funding disappear from the club if that was the case.

None of the other clubs would be jumping in to support us either.

Giving them Dunstan will definitely earn us brownie points at AFL HQ though….

If he’s picked consistently in front of those players Ratten should be worried imo
Actually I would t rush to extend Ratten till I knew what Clarkson was doing in 2023 ...

At the moment 2020 looks like the anomaly year. We had 9 wins in Richo's last season and 9 this year. Richo had heaps of injury too but was pretty much gone after he absolutely crashed in 2018 with 4 wins and a draw.....which ironically got us King who looks like our best pick since Riewoldt.

Our list doesn't look much better apart from King showing some real signs and Steele replacing Stuv and Ross as our best mid. Ratts deserves another year after taking us to finals in a very weird year that's hard to read but he should be on notice too.

We could finish half a game ahead of the Hawks, I hope everyone at the club is on notice we done a lot of things poorly this year

Never rebuilt properly. If you look at any team that has rebuilt they have multiple early draft picks. Seem we went hard at the draft early then gave up of the idea. Trade out all our second round picks as well. We are better but there is definitely a lot of areas we have to fix. Would be surprised if we finish around the same mark next year

Well Hawks drew with Tigers. Worst possible result for us.

So we can finish between 10th and 12th now assuming that Blues do not knock off GWS.

If Tiges had of won the highest possible finish for us would have been 11th.

If Hawks had won we could have finish as low as 13th.

Ben King has kicked 4 of Gold Coast's 6 goals. I would really like the set of King's.

yep, its that sort of thing. They want GC to work for the greater good. Will be interesting to see if they override the Suns on Dew.

Whch is why I argued when we loaded up on Hill and such that those picks would have been better at the draft. Now we are in a kind of no man's land of not quite enough bedrock and not much core. Promising kids and youth start to show some consistency at around 50 games and start to peak between 100 and 150. That fits with Steele on around 97 games before this year where he's gone up a level after a really good 2020. Sinclair is around that mark too.

That means guys like Hunter clark, Gresham, Higgins, Howard etc are coming into the start of a climb. If a lot come on we will be alright but if they turn out to be just GOP level like the ones we had we will be in the wilderness for along time.

It sucks that Gold Coast is capitulating so badly at the end of this year. The AFL won't allow one of their expansions to fail and one of their few promising players in Ben King will be 0% chance to leave now, surely. Even if he wanted to leave, Gold Coast would die on that hill given his talent as a key forward and the AFL would offer them any assistance to ensure it didn't happen.

If Gold Coast get pumped today they'll probably get a support package for their current support package. Ya know, to support it.
You can bet on that. Put your house on it.

Classy giving him a kick out the door. Maybe you have to hate on him because it helps you deal with him leaving but while may not have been a star you won't get anyone say a bad word about his character.

You don't quite understand how these other guys play. Watch guys like Brodie, they are good players but when their side has the ball their energy and run are good, as soon as the ball turns over they drop their work rate. It's the reason Hunter Clark isn't a first picked mid every week. He has all the skills but has to develop that side of his game.
Mate just because I pointed out you complete BS don't get upset and personal.

I couldn't care less if Dunstan leaves, hope he gets 400k x 3 and goes well.

Doesn't detract from the fact he couldn't spread or defend to save himself. A good honest inside mid with obvious deficiencies. He needs to move on.

Connelly, Sharman and Wood, pretty happy. Gears, well hmmm.

Sharman hasn't even had an AFL preseason.
gears is ok as long as we get rid of most of the older other players and he is not co captain. Let steele take it on himself.

Geez where are all the Parker fans now , the bloke cant get near it
If he's been prepared to come back on a 6 month contract on the chance to win another contract he deserves respect not bagging.

Probabaly no worse or better a year than the like's of Battle Wood or Coffield.

Worst game of his 6 games at the Tiges - will be interesting to see what happens.
