I like how we are become a poor man's Richmond

You mean like how, at one stage, Carlton were a poor man’s GWS? Hope we have more success with it 😉

Why would Coffs manager be shopping him? He just signed a new contract after a great season so we can assume it would be a good contract. Since then his form has been poor.

His manager should be telling him to get out on the track and in the gym and work his arse off if he wants to earn the same in the future.
Haha some of the stuff in here is mental.

If you hear a rumour, check if the player is in contract or not. Then check when he last signed, if he signed this year he probably isn't going anywhere. Just a little bit of research would be good lol

Can only play one position in a stacked back line and is down on form.

Wouldn't trade him however as he has it in him to be a star defender with a bit of pushing.

That's fair enough I guess, but he isn't being shopped lol. He signed a deal in March.

Battle for pick 26 (Richmond)
Long for 50 and 55 (Essendon)

That would give us approximately 1200 points in draft capital, the equivalent of around pick 13

Maybe enough to trade up to the Dogs first pick, but they are going to have a few clubs chasing it.

I can't see too many other clubs willing to trade down in the draft unfortunately.

Not overly keen on trading Battle if the pick may end up getting eaten by NGA selections, but if we can work our way up in the draft or those kids come after that pick, it's probably worth it.

You can still move with a contract. If a player wants out they tend to go.

Nobody said Coff would be traded. Contracted, still a required player, but other clubs have asked the question.

So say Coff asks to be traded and we are offered a late FRDP? We won't accept that. Maybe we would take two but who is offering that?
Coff in my view is highly unlikely to be traded.
I really think Long, Battle and Ross are the ones that will be likely but not our emerging stars.
Funnily enough, didn't we get Coff, Long and Battle for O'Meara?

How many move 6 months after signing a deal though?

Probably won't move but to say we can't talk about is a bit over the top too. Maybe a player hated his exit interview and the plan laid out for him. Fluid player movement will make it more common IMO. Players and clubs happy to contract for guaranteed income and tenure and clubs to have some trade capital.

I'd trade Battle for that.

I wouldn't trade Long for that trash though, do better Essendon, or no deal. I know you're suggesting it's more a points orientated deal, but do better Essendon

Yes, I understand birdmans reasoning, but its Essendon, they get no slack cut in trade period.

Took the words out of my mouth. Contracts are only there to drive a players price up if someone comes a knocking and the player wants to move.
I wouldn't have thought a player decides to stay and then move in the span of 5 months. Did Gary Buckenara make this shit up? Or was it that random bloke from Mt Eliza?

If we are going to make shit up to pass time at least make it believable. Maybe make up some rubbish about a player who signed a few years ago having a change of heart or managers for guys that are coming out of contract in talks with other clubs. Surely we can make up better shit than trade rumours for a guy that committed to us a few months ago lol

Clark, Long and Battle

I’d rather use the spot on a kid that could be nothing or could be everything.
At what point has Naish shown even an inkling that he could be everything? I understand that reasoning if the player has some standout attribute but he is a kid that can just run faster then a few others.

Also to others commenting about the value of delisted players, remember someone called Dylan Roberton and I guess technically Membery.

If we couldn't do hypothetical nonsense Bigfooty would get three posts a day.

I think we have to accept that as our young players like Coff, Clark, Steele, King, Gres etc get better other clubs will ask the question even when contracted.

Clark or Coff wont be traded, and hopefully down the track the others won't, but it is a better position than we have had for years where nobody was interested in any of our players, means our list is improving.

I'd trade Battle and Long for pick 17

Gotta look at the whole picture

That gets us 2 good picks before our NGA selections.

If we couldn't trade up then it is obviously a differenr story.

That's true. I'm going out for a bit, when I get back can we have 3 more bullshit rumours to discuss? Here's some scenarios;

. Matt Finnis taking the Suns CEO job and bringing Max King with him to complete his fascination of uniting the King twins.

. Jack Steele to Carlton after he got along with Sam Walsh at the Brownlow

. Ratts to line up at centre bounces next year after the loss of Luke Dunstan
