Clark GC for 2mil..???
Clarko to GC better or worse chance of getting Bing..?
Apparently really likes Dew..? Could tip him to leave.
Especially if we appoint Dew as an assistant….

I've heard that I'd Dew is sacked there will be an exodus as they have been sold that Dew is the man and he is much loved there

Any NGA player bid after pick 40 requires 0 points to be matched. The player is matched with the next available pick, and all clubs can keep picking until all of their list spots are filled. After pick 40 any NGA kid is ours for the taking.

All we need is a late second or a third and we’ll easily match any bids. There is a 197 point discount matching a bid for an NGA kid between picks 21 and 40. That’s about 9-10 picks in the draft order.

We can go into deficit for the corresponding round of the draft next year if necessary. If we do then it will be no big deal. Maybe a position or two.
Even better. Didnt know the after pick 40 deal.
Sounds like we should manage it reasonably then

What's funny is not many sit one on one as defenders of those guys. Alir can contest marks but Moore, Weitering, McGovern all intercept mark and actually get quite a few goals kicked on them height isn't really a big factor in their game. McKay would be the most traditional of those big KPB beats that out body and out muscle their opponents. Collingwood and Carlton fans both complain about the amount of goals their guys leak. May is the prototype old school strong one on one defender who out muscles everyone.
I remember before the Kings were drafted that Bing was being touted as a CHB. I've only seen him as a forward at the Suns. Anyone ever see him play as a key defender? If so how did he stack up?

He was a gun chb at Sandy dragons before Max did hid knee. They reckon he would have gone top 10 as a defender as well

Fox Footy reported that Dew is coaching Gold Coast for all of 2022. But they also said the pressure was on, things have too improve next year in his fifth year.

If Clarko says yes to coaching GC
Dew doesn’t coach in 2022

But Clarkson isn’t interested in coaching next year and there is no evidence to suggest that he is remotely interested in coaching Gold Coast. None at all.

Unlike most, I actually don’t think Clarkson will leave Victoria and is more likely to coach a Victorian club from 2023. That is just a personal opinion, but his roots are in Melbourne. Maybe he will find a preferred challenge to coach a traditional Melbourne club where he can leave his mark and make history.

That’s not a narrative many are considering.

How sure are we that the club rate Windhanger and Owens.
People on here were pretty excited about Biggsy not long ago and we passed on him pretty quickly even with the discount.

We took Connelly late in the draft rather than Biggy, who most of us on BF were expecting.
I'm happy with that.

No one was expecting Biggy early.

AFL might double whatever contract he gets offered to go to GC

Maybe Clarkson won’t care. Maybe he isn’t motivated by money. Not everyone is, he’s not exactly a pauper.

His family is in Melbourne and maybe he has reached a stage in his life where he won’t want to leave. Most people just assume the AFL will bribe him to go up to the Gold Coast.

Clarkson is a different sort. He loves the history of the game and I think his place in history will be a big part in his decision. That’s worth considering. He’s a bloke that will do his own thing.

Bing didn't finish in the Top 10 in their BnF. Staggering.

Footy Classified discussed the fact that Ben King kicked 47 goals but didn’t finish in the top 10 of the Suns B&F. All panelists were surprised and then discussed the OOC players in 2022.

Matthew Lloyd said things won’t be changing and that he is worried for them. He looked and sounded grim. The clear point he was making is that the OOC players will probably look to leave at the end of their contracts. These included King, Ainsworth, Lukosius and Rankine.

I’d definitely be in his ear, why not have a crack this year if the kids willing.

I can see this becoming an absolute circus next year because lukosious will want out as well perhaps leading to the AFL getting involved again.
That’s my worry I think next year becomes hard
AFL also will push to send Clarkson there...
I’d have a lash now for sure ...Bing just needs to do a Neale be firm and tell he’s gonski regardless at end of ne t year so better for Subs to trade now..
Let Lukosxious and Rankine etc all fight over who leaves next with the AFL trying to stop it next year..

But he kicked almost 50 goals for the year. That is the most important statistic in football.

47 goals is still only 2 per game. A 7 possession, 2 mark and 2 goal game isn’t going to be well received in B&F voting.

Let’s put it this way … Tom Lynch from Richmond has had a really average year… widely criticised for his output and rightly so …. 2021 season averages :

Goals : 2.1 (king) v 1.9

I50’s: 1.4 v 2.5

Goal assists: 0.3 v 0.8

SI’s: 4.7 v 6.4

Tackles: 0.8 v 1.6

Touches: 8.2 v 11.1

Marks: 4.1 v 4.8

CMarks: 1.1 v 1.7

Metres: 161 v 202

So he kicked a decent amount of goals as he played close to goal the entire season. But given Lynch had a very average year, I’m not surprised King missed top-10.

Lynch has a man's body, years in the system and a far better side kicking it to him. Also a really handy forward in Jack Riewoldt supporting him.

Bing plays for Gold Coast... has the frame of Miranda Kerr, only in his third season and GC's next best forward in Lukosius is being persisted with as a defender.

King is playing in a crap team that finished 3rd bottom. Lynch was playing in a team that had just won back-to-back flags with stars all around him. Not sure their circumstances are exactly the same.

You can have all the stats in the world (and your stats are very good - so well done) but for a 21 year old key forward to finish 5th in the Coleman Medal, playing in the third worst team in the competition, is pretty darn good. Yet the voting system in the B&F doesn’t recognise that as being in the top 10 players in the club B&F.

It seems to me that there might be an issue with the voting system in the B&F. He could’ve easily kicked another 13 goals for the year (for a total of 60) and still missed out finishing top 10. I think most people are justified in being surprised by it.

I had a look at the results and the players that were in the top 10 all looked to deserve a spot. They aren't that bad on paper. The only real surprise was that Witts had done enough before he went down that some more players didn't jump him. He was their best player until that point though.

That guy was actually just pointing out that Lynch had a terrible year but his stats were still much better except for goals. King was good but it's not outrageous that he missed the top 10 either. You don't get votes for what you might have done.
