It only says most likely. Many highly thought of draftees dont go first round.

And if they do, Libba will find us some more diamonds like Connolly and Sharman in the 60s.

Freo: Two first round picks? Forget it.
Neale: I’m extremely happy at the Lions, never wanted to leave. Not sure where that rumour came from.
🤔
Turns out ,,, Cant go any club

But i think we need Tony to confirm this before its true

If they are drafted between picks 1-20, we dont get them.

If they are bid on between picks 21-40, we can match the bid with draft points and get them at a discount. We can do this with later picks, we dont need to trade into the 20/30s. If we dont have enough points with our picks this year, we go into a points deficit for our pick in that round next year which just slides that pick back a few places.

If they are bid on after pick 41, we can get them with our next available pick.

Feel like the most likely thing to happen is the both get nominated 21-40? Would be a good idea to get hold of pick 18 (drops down to no 20 with bids to Daicos, Darcy) just in case someone wants to really bend us over a the final hurdle. Would be keen to draft Sam Butler who would be around that mark.

Best case they both dont get a nom until after 41 and we get pick 11 and 20 and windyhager ownes with picks 98, 99

Neale attempt to get back to Fremantle was never going to happen with Bell involved in the trade , dealing with him is just torture as we found out with Hill.
The Cerra trade is going to be interesting what he comes up with.

God that would be the dream 😍

Come on Ben, heed your ex captains advice. Won’t be playing finals up at the Gold Coast. Better come back home

Perfect summary of the culture at the Suns. They don't believe in each other. Frigging soul destroying, I would think.

I also can't help but wonder whether a guy who thinks like that might go missing in a prelim or a GF...

Yep, Cal Twomey thinks they should both get through to that bracket.

Getting that pick would be a great scenario for us, but how would we get it? We dont have any picks to package up and we need to keep our first for next year incase Bing happens.

Yeah difficult sell.. Well it's Brisbane's pick at the moment. Maybe we could trade them a bundle of future picks which would help them with Ashcroft bid next year. I would probably be happy to slide down a little with our first.

What I would do: Our pick 9 and future 2nd for Brisbane's pick 14 & 18 & 57

How did we get pick 20?
we have 9,46,64. or am I missing something.

I was pretty impressed by what I saw from Flynn, can't see the giants letting him go though.

Mabior Chol is more than capable of backing Paddy Ryder up. Plays with good energy after the hitout I think he would offer a bit in the middle in terms of run and carry from congestion.

Nick Bryan at Essendon and Darcy Fort at Geelong might might be receptive to an approach.
Darcy Fort. That's nearly as disgusting as the guy who suggested Dom Tyson. Common man.

The difficulty with that is we couldn’t trade our 2022 1st RDP in a trade for Bing unless we were also able to trade in a replacement
2022 2nd RDP.

Clubs are not allowed to trade-out both a 1st and a 2nd in any draft year unless there is at least one replacement pick in the first two rounds.

If we traded the 2022 & 2023 1st RDPs for Bing then neither second could be simultaneously traded out at the time. So bringing forward our 2023 2nd RDP to cover the shortfall in 2022 wouldn’t be allowed by the AFL.

This is where not getting free agency compensation for Dunstan, Ross and Billings really hurts. We seem to be one pick short this year (at the moment).

Hmm right.. well maybe 9 for 14 & 18 would be sufficient? We could trade F2's as a kicker which would alleviate the above problem.

The only way I see us doing it would be by letting Battle and Ross go and then using those picks to trade up.

Or one of those and using future picks on top.

Either way it probably doesn't look like a great result for us.

If we genuinely believe there is a chance Windhager or Owens could zoom into the top 20, and if we really rate both lads, then that might be an option. But Brisbane would want another pick from somewhere coming back.

We remain one pick short. In the absence of free agency compensation then we need to find one from somewhere. If Bing is likely to come back to us then we need to keep our future second rounders in place.

Pretty sure you can trade out both your 1st and 2nd round pick in a draft. We didn't have a first or second round pick in 2019.

You just cant trade out both your future 1st and future 2nd.

But say we traded out our future 2nd this year, we could still trade our first round pick next year once we got to that trade period.

I'm suggesting we simply swap our F2 with Brisbane's F2 as part of the 9 for 14 & 18 deal. May not be enough but would be close. This gets us an extra pick this year and retains our full set next year

I stand corrected if you’re right. These draft rules are confusing. We also have the rule of using two 1st RDPs in a rolling four year period to further complicate matters.
