We did bid on him in his draft year.

He is an elite runner also which we said we'd target.

He's got good skills and has been dominant at VFL level.

His knock is he is quite soft though.

Outside type and his kicking is below average. My Tiger mate thinks he's no good. We need mids with some experience even to cover injury. We are going to be a skeleton crew next year. I'd be looking at guys like Naish and Brodie even as a bit of cover and hope one comes good.

We would have won number 2 this year if we had selected Petracca
Over Paddy.
Mate, we would have St.Kilda'ed Petracca and he'd still be an overweight figjam running around in the 2's whilst Paddy would be a Premiership player with 100 goals in a season to his name.
And everyone would be saying we should have taken Paddy over Petracca....
You know it to be true.

Bytel has just suffered from lack of game time , last year the VFL was scrubbed and this year only 8 games were played , or though he did play some AFL - 13 games in fact , he only played 7 games over 58% time on field which is nowhere enough for a young kid that needs game time.
This young guy has massive potential and at 21 with only 16 games experience will be something special when give the game time he requires.
He is good by hand and foot and is a very good tackler , once he starts to rack up possessions he will be explosive because the few games he has played he has shown he can be a player that uses the ball better than a lot of the midfielders.
Yea agreed. Like I said reminds me a lot of Dunkley except he can kick.

Do you just have a mate from every club that you get all your player info from?

nice of trade radio to casually drop this:

Rendell, who was working at Collingwood in 2014, said internally McCartin was rated around pick eight, insisting that everyone else he spoke to at club-land had Petracca as the best player in the draft.

“My information is the coach of St Kilda (at the time in Alan Richardson) might have strongly influenced the recruitment manager Tony Elshaug to take Paddy McCartin at pick one,” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s The Late Trade.

“17 other clubs in the competition had (Christian) Petracca as a clear number one in that draft, so he accidently fell to Melbourne.

“The irony is St Kilda’s coach at the time in Alan Richardson is now the football manager of Melbourne.

“At Collingwood we had him at about pick eight, he was a fantastic mark and a great kick, but he was going to be a stay-at-home full forward. We just thought there were 25 players in the league who can play on a 193-centimetre full forward.

“We were still happy to take him in the draft, but not at (pick one).”

Would prefer we had a crack at Rantall from Collingwood seeing as he still cant get a contract.
Good runner and can play inside

I don't think anyone is harsh on him. Everyone thinks he's talented. He's just not capable of walking into the midfield yet. On pure talent he's a stand out, on effort and fitness not so much, He's shown glimpses like that Hawks game where you are hoping you've seen the future. He's in his 5th season next year, he's on that cusp of being a player that steps up a soars or turns into another GOP that could have been anything. He might suffer from looking too casual but he's not ripping games apart which doesn't help. Hopefully next year.
No I do think people are harsh because a little like Sinclair it’s like if he’s not getting 30 people are upset as opposed to actually seeing what he does with the pill. Now we all agree he needs to improve his fitness. I also don’t buy this ‘ he might lack effort’ it’s not true. Just because certain players have a more effortless running gate does not mean they are not running hard or working hard. Pendlebury being the example. In fact IIRC the distance he covers in games is usually right up in our top runners.

Would we trade Sharman for Bing and a straight swap..?? If the GC said that (which they won’t) would be do the trade..?
They would be better off going for Battle really.
Bigger harder body to protect the younger kids coming through

He may have been a very good footballer but it's no excuse to be an arrogant campaigner IMO.

I would much prefer to listen to someone with a bit of humility or at least happy to take the piss out of themselves.
Pauses way to much when he talks and has turned trade radio into essendon trade chat.
Needs to not be on radio. But he was a very good player. Our administration was a mess and has been nothing but embarrassing up untill 2018. Amateurish pack of idiots

Its spelt Parmigiana , but its not pronounced Parmy Jarna , So if you are pronouncing it Parmy its wrong. Parma is not much different from Parme ( how do you do those little speech accents? ) and its based on Parmesan cheese.

The Americans just became confused ( as usual ) and dropped a whole syllable ( as usual ) , like they did with Aloooominum.

Anyway , i'm probably wrong and we should ask Gringo who is an authority on all things italian.
You may think i'm a clown but i have size 160 shoes.

I think real parmigiana is egg plant and a contentious one. Claimed by Sicilians and others in the north. Parma is the city that the name relates to though. You can't find chicken parmigiana in Parma like you can't get Bolognese in Bologna. Both are American/Australian Italian style food.

When I think about trading Long it concerns me. The guy has so much bloody potential, imagine if he got himself super-fit. He could be a gun.

We've just got a new development coach and a new fitness coach. Can we give them a crack at Longy for a season before we get rid of him? The idea of him ripping it up for Essendon makes me physically ill.

Similar situation as Battle. Just gotta settle on a position, I think he plays his best footy as a forward. Hard to consistently play well when you don't know what position you'll be playing.

I've said for years Australia have the best Pizza's in the world too. :D
