And also it was the other way around. Richo wanted Petracca but was overruled.

So Rendell's whole spiel was a fabrication.

Edit: so reading the Emma Quayle piece, Richo was not all for Petracca but seemed to have been swayed to Paddy by Trout and Bains. He certainly didn't push for Paddy over Petracca, it was trout who was doing all the pushing and convincing.

Ironically they used Boyd as the example and both now both paddy and Boyd are done.

An ex player claimed that Richo knew Petracca's family so didn't want to be seen to be pushing that barrow. ****ing unassertive micro dick.

I wonder if Rendell stays on radio long enough he'll get hit with threats of defamation again hahahaha

I think Ned Guy may have already threatened him with it. Absolutely trashed him on SEN earlier in the year.

Pretty sure they same about Howard lol
Howard cost a first round downgrade when we were already trying to split picks. It was pretty good get on their part given what they originally drafted him with.

This is the opposite scenario now.

We are not looking to split picks. We are looking to upgrade.

Edit:

Ryder and Howard have been traded to St Kilda in a deal that sees the Power receive picks 12 and 18 at November’s NAB AFL Draft along with the Saints’ future third round selection.
Port Adelaide will also send pick 10 and a future fourth-round selection to Moorabbin.

I think its unlikely we will be in a position to upgrade our pick that way. I dont think we have the cap or picks to make it happen.

Unpopular Opinion but we should not Trade for Ben King.

We need to use picks to get mids.

Do you just have a mate from every club that you get all your player info from?

No but my Richmond mate watches their VFL and knows people at the club. Actually the uncle of Caldy's mate, he had another nephew who played at the Pies but was a bit average.

Considering how much Essendon has f’ed us over the years in trade week.

Lovett for pick 16
Carlisle and 14 for pick 5 and 24 (then suddenly the minute after the trade comes out the infamous video surface)
Hind for literally nothing
Swooped in to take Caldwell from underneath us by offering ridiculous money

I’d tell them to give us their pick 11 or a future 1st or GTFO. Seriously hate them.

Don’t trade with them while Dodoro is still there. Best to avoid them unless it is absolutely necessary.

No I do think people are harsh because a little like Sinclair it’s like if he’s not getting 30 people are upset as opposed to actually seeing what he does with the pill. Now we all agree he needs to improve his fitness. I also don’t buy this ‘ he might lack effort’ it’s not true. Just because certain players have a more effortless running gate does not mean they are not running hard or working hard. Pendlebury being the example. In fact IIRC the distance he covers in games is usually right up in our top runners.

He doesn't chase, that's a bad look unless you are actually Pendles.

When I think about trading Long it concerns me. The guy has so much bloody potential, imagine if he got himself super-fit. He could be a gun.

We've just got a new development coach and a new fitness coach. Can we give them a crack at Longy for a season before we get rid of him? The idea of him ripping it up for Essendon makes me physically ill.

I think this is a pretty astute point.

Considering we are having an upheaval of assistant coaches this season it’s a great time to see if the new ones can have an immediate effect on our contracted but fringe players for next year. I’m talking Long, Battle, Joyce and so on. Guys like Carrol, Enright and Walsh could have a massive effect of those 3 specifically - who knows?

Unless we are DESPERATE for a pick, that’s the smart thing to do whilst they’re contracted. Development from within is our next step to success - the demons just did it and look where it got them.

No, I'm distantly related to Freezer though. This guys nephew was a step down from Freezer even, only lasted a couple of seasons, they were a gun side at the time so couldn't get a go.

Does he? What is he especially good at? What elite traits does he have

He's tough, he can take the occasional nice looking mark, and if he's not invisible he might bob up for a goal if he plays forward

He also gives away too many free kicks and 50s, hasn't got great disposal, isn't particularly quick, doesn't have a clear best position, and doesn't know how to find the footy, even in the easiest position on the ground

Big meh from me, trade him for a pick inside 40 before we delist him next year

I've said for years Australia have the best Pizza's in the world too. :D

You can get really good pizza and Italian style coffee in Melbourne. Actually have the best coffee in the world in Melbourne IMO.

The same could have been said about Acres a few years ago - so much potential, new coach, could be anything etc.

Good thing we didnt keep him just because of that "potential".

Marshall can ruck 90% of a game by himself. One of the Kings would be capable of running around and occasionally tapping the ball for a few minutes a quarter.

Marshall takes centre bounces and floats between the arcs, rotating forward to the goalsquare when one of the Kings is off the ground and the other rucks the throwins?

Not too far fetched if we can have a couple of players primed to take a centre bounce/stoppage while he rests forward or has a spell.

Also possible we choose to concede the bounces he doesn’t attend, with an extra mid/hbfer at the contest to try and steal/force a stoppage.

As the Kings mature they may get comfortable with a pinch-hit in the ruck, or Heath develops and one of our bigs spends time rotating into defence.

If nothing else it presents some intriguing possibilities …

Dal Santo used to get the same criticism for his laconic style.

His disposal is very good. Very good mark. Good eye for goal. Tough as nails, brutal tackler. That's quite a few good traits.

His main issue is he struggles to find enough of the footy, but could that be a fitness issue?

Would we trade Sharman for Bing and a straight swap..?? If the GC said that (which they won’t) would be do the trade..?
I wouldn’t. Based on the little we’ve seen I think he has a good point of difference in the forward line. And he’s a smart player.
