For those actually listening to Trade Radio; are they just rolling through the 18 clubs or are we getting more attention?

It would if it happened this year.

Probably not when he is out of contract, but we'd still have to be prepared to give up a hell of a lot for him.

Even next year they will have us over a barrel. We can't walk him through the PSD and all we have is to give them close to what they want. They also need to scare off all the other raiders coming for their kids so it's a test case for them. The AFL will be on their side as well. There isn't going to be much sentiment to get him to us on the cheap and it will get messy.

I seriously hope we are no longer going down the Frawley, McKernan, Wood, etc. path anymore - not withstanding that Wood got a one year contact. (?)
No more recycling aging has-beens please.

We will probably have to unfortunately. We are going to have a heap of free list spots this year and we are looking at seriously cutting into our depth. I can't see us taking more than 4 players in the draft including NGAs. Losing Dunstan and Ross types with out a back up would make us 2 midfield injuries off playing kids and players from other positions in the mids. Good for development, not great for playing finals.

Wood just turned 28 so I dont think he is comparable to a Frawley and McKernan as an 'ageing has-been'.

What did Frawley and McKernan bring to the club this season to get us into finals-nothing. Wood I think is still worth it- good smarts as a forward.

GC have hated us every since we done that tweet after the draft about Ben coming to us when we drafted Max.

Even if he does ask for a trade, this will be the most expensive trade in history and one that I would not be comfortable making.

Time and time again Midfields win grand finals. We have already what looks like a once in a generation type key forward on the books with reasonable support in Membrey and Sharman plus maybe Battle or Marshall.

We have 1 elite mid and the rest are solid citizens. We need 2 more elite mids to be a top 2 side which wins flags

Just wondering if you know the powerball numbers for tonight as well

Sounds like the Petracca Paddy debate. I think the whole thing is a massive distraction and makes us lazy. We are moving pieces around and pushing pieces around to fit in a player we don't have any guarantees of even getting. I wish we'd just do something the normal way occasionally. We never seem to go by a script. Drafting your stars then filling the holes is a time honoured list build strategy.

We seem to be stripping the list out and rebuilding it with imported GOPs and high risk cheap draft picks and trying to replace the missing draft picks with semi developed players from other clubs which cost us more picks. Essendon and Carlton followed that path and have stayed in purgatory the whole time. Both have drafted their way out of it since then.

They have? Last I checked we have won more finals in the last 6 years than both of them combined

Who cares about Ben King, if it ever happens it wount be for 12 months.

And if it does it will be the biggest letdown for supporters as it was telegraphed for 12 months.

The Ben

a late second rounder should do it :p :D

We aren't moving and pushing anything around. This nonsense has all stemmed from a person in the media and his struggle to comprehend. We've already given the media a hard no on this topic, and they've still asked us. They will not stop as long as the colours on Ben and Max's jumpers are different.

Dunno what the rest has to do with anything really, we're discussing the incorrect comment of our club saying they expect to sign Ben King.

Don't get sucked into it. We've not had a year where the list didn't improve in a while now. We've continually added pieces and year on year the quality of the list has improved. We haven't gutted anything but the deadwood. All this King stuff is is something to fill time. You should listen to the Gallagher interview. We couldn't have been more blunt.

Quite the opposite. it is absolutely no distraction to this year as it wont happen, which means we are concentrating on the draft, with somehow adding an extra top 15 dp, getting two quality junior mids and hopefully getting the two NGA's.

If anything it focusses our strategy for the next three years.

So what happens if we don't get B.King? We have two extra FRDP's (2022 and 2023) a lot of freed up cap space and a whole lot of other options. Free Agency n another missing piece and more quality kids? Or trades for more experience etc.

I think the strategy is sound. After two years where we brought in 8 immediate first 22 players (if I include Highmore) and got some real bonus youth quality in Byrnes, Connelly, and Sharman player excellent roles, I like the 'hit the draft' strategy.

I reckon this strategy was put together in 2018, probably tweaked after we missed King, and now we are going to at least execute the plan and hopefully reap the benefits of the youth coming in.

Ben just needs to tell the Suns (via his manager of course) he's considering transitioning to becoming a woman and that he's just discovered LSD. He also wants to go back to Melbourne to spend time with his mum who will understand and support him. Oh, and yes, he wants to be traded to StKilda. Maybe throw in something about identifying with the Wachowskis (Matrix directors/creators). Then a future second rounder becomes a thing !

I would expect one ‘break glass in case of emergency’ back-up KPD to be selected from the list of delisted free agents, as injury coverage 👍🏼

But any more than one would be a no-no IMO

Bulldogs Probably have the 2nd best midfield in the comp. probably the best if you consider how deep it runs. But imo flags these days are won in defence.
melbourne have best 1-2 tall combo in May and Lever. Excellent distributors in Salem and Bowey. And roll players like Petty and Hibberd.
Dogs defence is pretty average. Dale and Daniel are excellent distributors but that’s about it. Compare it to their 2016 team and it’s not even close.
Go back through every GF winning side over the last 20 years and have a look at how strong their defence was
A strong midfield definitely, and we need another A grader but another A grade tall defender to partner Howard and Wilkie would see us improve drastically

Never heard anything about St Kilda officially saying anything apart from "we'd love him at our club, same as every club would" but that's it.
Only journos amd punters have said it's saints to lose
Really who cares , he was drafted to a State and team he didn't want to go to and only signed on due to the crazy money they give out.

2016 Bulldogs - Fletcher Roberts, Joel Hamling & Shane Biggs say hi 👍🏼

Elite quality midfields win Grand Finals

The other lines of forwards & backs just need to function at an elite level, doesn’t matter what the personnel is made up of 🤷🏻‍♂️

The club tweeted on draft night something along the lines of “see you in 2 years, Ben” which I thought was pretty funny, it got others upset though.
