Xerri may not have shown a lot playing out of position at AFL level but he has been dominant at VFL level playing in the ruck.

At 22, he's still a way off in terms of ruckmen.

People also need to realise that quality AFL rucks won't exactly he bashing the door down to come and play behind probably the best ruck combo in the league.

I'd really like Max Lynch, but I think he's at a point in his career where he'd want to go to a club where he thinks he can play first ruck.

That's why Mason Cox makes the most sense to me. He's been a forward at Collingwood who have a premium ruckman already. He'd be a bridge until we get King in and don't need another ruckman and you'd imagine he'd be almost free.

Our of curiosity would you say Dusty is one paced?

I’d say he is, he’s just strong in the contest and can go forward and kick goals. I see Hobbs as being a similar type player (obviously not as powerful as Dusty) but better defensively.

Dusty isn't ridiculously fast but he's got a bit of toe. Strength is definitely his big weapon though.

Biggest problem is that he’s shit though isn’t he?

Trade radio has to do 65 hours of content in a week.

And about 30 mins of that content is on actual news.

He's very average as a forward, he only needs to be an upgrade on Hunter though. Not our first picked ruckman. Basically if King gets injured or Marshall/Paddy goes down for the year we have a capable replacement in reserve and if he's good enough he plays before the other back up.

I wouldn't say Dusty is quick or fast, but the power he has give an extra dimension to how he exits stoppages.

To me, Hobbs is more a bottom of the pack, inside bull type than a Dusty type.

Why not just go for Mac Andrew if we need another ruck that bad? He should be right around our pick.

The guy who apparently plays like a young Paddy Ryder could be mentored for a year by Paddy Ryder?

I know we need mids but I can remember the last time we made a needs vs quality decision...

Be an interesting 1. With our NGA's, Clark, Bytel and Byrnes with Gresh coming back the club may not think we need mids as much as we do. Mac does look like he could become a gun ruck forward. Club would have a better idea tho on how they rate Heath who is also looking good.

Xerri makes sense to me as a Paddy backup as a main ruck, Cox for the 2nd ruck/2nd forward role

Yes I agree he is very very shit.. BUT it would be quite interesting to see a forward line with both Max King and Mason Cox in it haha. Just based on height/wingspan/the ability to mark the ball at its highest point would surely be unstoppable for some of the games best defenders [emoji23][emoji23]

No to drafting Mac Andrew unless there are literally no decent mids at our pick, and if that’s the case I’d go for Gibcus instead.

More of a fan for Sweet over Xerri. He came in this year for the dogs and got quite the praise at AFL level. If my memory is correct, he didn’t play finals as Doggies preferred Stef Martin as that’s what they brought him in for. 23 years old and should be cheap, perfect for us. It would be Flynn or Sweet for me.

That being said, I’m pretty optimistic for Heath as well. Wonder how high he would’ve gone if he was in the national draft and actually got to play some games.

If we are chasing King I'll throw my laptop out a window if we take another tall with our first pick in the draft. In a midfielders draft you'd need to be mentally deficient to step out of those. I'm hoping GC or GWS take the talls out of our reach. Talls... especially ones that aren't quite KP sized seem to be our new HBFs.

His top speed’s nothing special but I think he’s pretty quick off the mark. And due to his play style he only needs the metre or 2 of free space to get his kick off

Yeah I’m all for having a 208cm step ladder for Max to jump all over

He’s an unrestricted free agent. If he was genuinely in demand, a club would add him their list right now.

On SEN this morning one of the commentators was saying that clubs aren't chasing inside mids any more with most after run and spread midfielders who are the fashion at the moment. Apparently the classy running mids are the ones everyone wants now. Timing doesn't seem on Lukes side and possibly why Seb Ross was retained over Luke. Luke had a better run of games but Seb has run.
