Plan for Ashcroft/Jaspa/McMillan, may get Fort, may be pickup JCameron, don't have enough list spots.. this looks pretty busy already.

Who’s our young Ashcroft?
There's another one coming isn't there? Maybe 2024? Perhaps he is more like his dad?
Ashcroft Voss, Clugga Black, Fletcher Lapin, Bailey Aker, Ashcroft Ashcroft and Dev Hart :)

It would likely involve trading 14 and 18 for 9, but I'd want another early second rounder as well
I like something like that.
Have no idea what the club has in mind in trades and draft picks though
Points wise you get something around 28 back
With 9 ending around the 12/13 mark after f/s

It's not rocket science that you usually get a great/very good pick in the top 10
However I would rather get one good player in the top 20 lower the better. That would entail holding onto pick 14 minimum i think
The Lions best recent picks (2015-2020) have come from pick 18 and under
Below our picks under 18
2015: (Schache pick 2 -games 65(27 Bris)) (Hipwood pick 14 -games 110)
2016: (McCluggage pick 3 -games 106) (J Berry pick 17 -games 85)
2017: (Rayner pick 1 -games 63) (Z Bailey pick 15 -games 70) (Starcevich pick 18 -games 47)
2018: Nil
2019: Nil
2020: Nil

Below our picks 19 and over. The bolded i think were good picks. Jury still out on others. Keays showed much more after leaving the Lions
So that's 4 out of 32 picks with jury still out on a few

2015: (Keays pick 24 -games 68(30 Bris)) (Mathieson pick 39 -games 62) (Skinner pick 47 -games 3) (R William Rookie pick 20 - games 3)

2016: (Witherden pick 23 -games 68(59 Bris))(C Cox pick 24 -games 13)(Allison pick 55 -games 10)(C Lyons pick 71 -games 0)(Eagles TV Show -Games 6)
2016: (Barrett Rookie pick 2 -games 22) (Hinge R pick 20 -games 4) (Oscar McInerney Rookie pick 37 -games 79)

2017: (Wooller pick 41 -games 0) (Ballenden pick 43 -games 3) ( J Payne pick 54 -games 15)

2018: (Eli Smith pick 21 - games 0) (T Berry pick 36 -games 17) (T Joyce pick 40 -games 0)(McFadyen pick 42 -games 0) (Answerth pick 55 -games 28)
2018: (Fullarton unregistered player selection -games 14) (J Madden international signing -games 9)

2019: ( D Robertson pick 22 -games 17) (B Smith pick 33 -games 0) (K Coleman pick 37 -games 23) (J Prior pick 59 -games 18)

2020: ( B Coleman pick 24 -games 0)(H Sharp pick 48 -games 2) (H Smith pick 48 -games 0)
2020: (Uosis international signing 2020 -games 0) (C Michael Zone selection - games 0) (Lane midseason draft -games 0)

I may have missed someone hopefully not.

Thats a cool post! thank you. I'd have bolded D Robertson, J Payne, Answerth in addition to what you have.

#12 Will Ashcroft (Sandringham Dragons)
6/05/2004 | 183cm | Midfielder

The Brisbane Lions father-son prospect plying his trade at Sandringham Dragons showed why he is considered one of the best prospects for the 2022 draft with a dominant display in the midfield. Ashcroft showed a great mix of toughness, class and flashy play, with his toughness on show in the first quarter going back with the flight and getting back up quickly to go again. The second quarter is where he kicked his first of two goals with a lovely long range finish hard on the boundary which he would somehow outdo in the last quarter, bursting away to kick another long range goal. That same burst was a highlight in his clearance work too, which included classy clearances to go with some gritty bull-like wins. With 33 disposals, 11 clearances and two goals, it was by far the best performance not only for this game but for the whole Round 1 of the Under 17 championships.

So we have a young Black in McCluggage and soon a young Voss in Ashcroft. Is Bailey our young Akermanis?
Clugg isnt a Black and never will be. You will never see another player like Akker also. He was one different to any other. In saying that, Bailey can be Bailey and go on to learn his craft & become a footballer who does his own things his own way...fingers crossed he does.

Hugh Mccluggage is Hugh Mccluggage

To make that even better they need to show the kick after that.
Highlight reels are fine.

The one thing that separates great players over good players is consistent high performance under all conditions over a long period.

I hope some of the guys on our current list get there. The only ones who have really done it yet are Neale and Zorlo. Andrews should get there. Clug likewise. Cameron a good chance.

No but he has traits that remind me of Black

But how many first round picks could he get us.

Our current midfield will never win a premiership, let's trade out Lachie and Hugh for some magic beans.

Whatever people think the game is a lot quicker. Black and Aker were such sublime ball handlers every time they went near it I sometimes wonder if it's possible to do so consistently the way the game is now. The current era great players Fyffe, Dangerfield ,Martin and now Petracca and Wines use power and strength to bludgeon their way through. Albeit Martin is a fantastic ball handler as well.

The disrespect some people show Neale when he's the best player we've had for a long time is fairly bemusing to me. Let's trade out our best player by a long way so we can get some draft picks and maybe get a reward in 3 or 4 years.

Thoughts on possibly getting involved with Fremantle?
Cats apparently want a pick between 8 and 27 (freo’s picks)…. Could we move up the draft?
