Quick, decent leap, scoreboard impact, penetrating kick, even though he was a mid first that started to build his inside 50 game in the last 12-18 months
Hotton & Hayes are likely to be there at #10

But, who would you take those players even if these two are available at our pick too: Philipou & Jefferson?

Philipou - seems like a great fit for us.

Personally, if Philipou is not going to be there at #10, I would love for us to trade into mid teens

Would GWS entertain 15 & 18/19 for 10 & 29?
Doing so, we may get both if your preferred players :D

Having an early stab at this.

1. Bris - Ashcroft - GWS interviewed him. Perfunctory, but ticks the box to call him out. Takes some pressure off Cadman, who'll have enough as it is. Think they'll do it. 0% chance to backfire on them.
2. GWS - Cadman
3. North - Sheezel
4. North - Wardlaw
5. Ess - Tsatas - Pretty obvious choice
6. Syd - Humphrey - Think he suits them here. Worth the pick. Forward/mid allows Heeney and even Hayward to play a bit more mid. Think the swap suits both Syd and GC.
7. Haw - Clark. Exactly what Hawks need, and with the added bonus of jabbing Geelong in the ribs. Expect cheeky Mitchell grin. Worpel, Cooper Stephens other Geelong boys down there.
8. Geel - Jefferson - My 1st sorta surprise i guess. With Clark gone, i think they may take the chance to develop a Tomahawk replacement. They won't get many such quality chances. Bit early for mine. But wouldn't surprise.
9. WC - Busslinger - Again maybe a touch early but apparently won't get past Bulldogs to their 2nd pick. Quality KPD
10. StK - McKenzie - Safe, quality, homegrown mid. Not a fave of mine but pretty obvious pick here.
11. Carl - Philipou - Like the dream of Sheezel, this is the player this team needs. The quality young goalkicking forward/mid.
12. WB - Ginbey
13. WC - Hewett
14. Melb - Ed Allen - Bolters tend to bolt. Can't quite see it myself. Pretty sloppy. But bolters tend to bolt, especially really athletic ones.
15. GC - Hollands - Think Hollands gets to here, so pick swap pays off.
16. GWS - George - Explosive country player from Nth Vic. Think they can confidently draft him, rehabilitate him, settle him in and reap the benefit.
17. Coll - Weddle
18. GC - Hayes - Collins getting on. Pick swap nets them Hollands and a quality KPD.
19. Ess - Davey - Jab in the ribs by McCartney to his ol mate Dodoro.
20. GWS - Konstanty
21. GWS - Burgiel - 4 quality country boys to journey to GWS together.
22. WC - Gruzewski
23. Bris - Fletcher - bid by Bulldogs to replace Hunter type.
24. WB - Hotton
25. Ade - McHalaney

Who do we get with our next pick?

I would gamble on Phillipou and have a predraft agreement that we extend him by 2 years up front. If he says no, look elsewhere

Then Hotton, Hayes, Ginbey, Hewett, Jefferson

They might, Cadman and Busslinger or Hayes would be ideal for GWS

I’m looking fwd to this draft

When was the last time we had a pick in each of the first 4 rounds?

Looking forward to some young talent :D

You could have at least gone the extra few picks to our selection, lift.

I cannot put my finger on why I don't trust Sheezel, no doubt I will be wrong on my call. Humphrey I have more hope of making it at AFL level, he may be a De Goey styled forward/mid.
Sheezel
Try low ceiling
Top 5 pick for a 3rd fwd
Question how his game translates against men?
His game style is perfectly evolved for U18s footy

If both are available, it will be interesting which way we go at Pick 11...
Needs - Jefferson (could be a star)
Best Available - Phillipou

I don't think we really need Jefferson. We'd be better off taking more of a project KPF with a later pick. The top 10 pick should be used on a player who will play next year and raise the standard of our bottom six players. That probably means it should be a mid or a small/medium forward. Phillipou would play next year and improve us forward of centre, whether he's taking marks and kicking goals or putting it inside 50.

I would be happy if both were available and we didn't go rogue with our selection. I'd draft Phillipou first but I don't agree with the 'we don't need Jefferson' line of thinking for a few reasons. He could be a boon to our forward line and even help McKay pull his finger out.

I agree regarding not taking Jefferson with our first pick, l just don’t see a tall forward as one of our priorities. Carlton is one of the luckier clubs having 2 elite key forwards. If we want a backup use a later pick on a tall.

I think our priority should be a player that can help with ball movement and transition. That can provide some run, carry and creativity through the middle of the ground.

If we stay at 10/11 I’d take Hayes. KPD has been an Achilles heal for a few years on the injury front. Developing a future makes the most sense to me. Defence wins Premierships.

Would love us to get another 2nd. Maybe COL would trade out with all their additions this season. F2 and 29 for 25/27.

‘Maybe Barnett and George. More quality projects.

Yes and every club is wrong of their assessment of him, you can translate those comments to every player in the draft.

He will be a quality mid sized forward who will be more than capable of running through the mid field.

Sheezel & Philipou fill a real gap in our list right now as we lack that real smart mid goal kicking forward that run through the mid field.

I feel we have some depth in KP defence for 2023 (Weitering, Young, Marchbank, Kemp, SDurdin, Akui (developing), McGov & Plowman (3rd talls).
We need forward key position depth to develop and push through, so I would take one of Keeler or Lemmey with our second - forward/ruck.
Would be stoked if we drafted one at 2nd and one at 3rd.
Take the best available midfielder/runner at pick 10 - probably Humphrey/Pillipou/Hewett/George.
Take the best defender available with our 4th - depending on what is available.
There my thoughts.

I believe we'll participate in at least some sort of pick swap, but my preference for what we've got at this stage is Humphrey/Jefferson at pick 10 (too early for Hotton then?) and Gruzewski/Szybkowski/Burgiel at pick 29. Would also love to pick up Ned Cahill as an SSP recruit.

You could be right. I have no problem with Sheezel at pick 10, I am just not sure he is a top 5 pick.

Works for me

I like the sound of Keeler as he sounds like he actually has forward craft, the 2nd ruck position seems to get a bit lost on some, there’s no point drafting another key forward for the senior team and say that none of the big 3 forwards can ruck. Keeler addresses that situation.
