Gov is from WAFor the sake of argument, let's play this out a bit...
Say Gov wants to go home to Adelaide, and Adelaide are keen to have him back. If you were Adelaide, would you take 10 & Gov for 5? (forget the 2nd round back, that's not gonna happen) I'm dubious, but ok, say they accept the deal. We've now got pick 5. This becomes pick 6 when Ashcroft gets picked (likely 1, certainly by 2).
We won't get Sheezel, and probably unlikely to get Tsatas, they're the two I'd love to have got by shifting up the order, but don't see it happening. Wardlaw likely also off the table, hard to say how far he drops after injuries, but unlikely to be out of the top 5.
Busslinger might be there, and slots straight into the role Gov had, longer term likely to fill a key defender role.
If he's not, then it's the likes of Clark, Phillipou, Mackenzie, Hewett, or for a tall option Cadman. All look likely prospects, but there's a decent chance one of these would have been available at our pick 10 anyway.
My feeling is that there isn't likely to be a huge difference between 5 and 10 - the players we'd really be keen on will be off the table, all we get is first choice of the next group (which would be great to have by the way, but not worth paying a big price for). Also, I think we'd have to pay a lot more for the pick swap than what is mooted. And if we were going to be paying a high price I'd want it to be to WC or GWS for a really good result.
But his wife is from SA, more relevant with new child.Gov is from WA

Personally I'd rather keep Gov... He completes our back 6 and is a required player...
If he was to go for family reasons, I'd rather do a deal with Port...
Carlton > Bergman
Port > McGovern & 4th rounder
Carlton > Pick 23, Sholl & McAsey
Crows > McGovern & Jones Pick

That's why I said Jones pick (compo pick)...
Gov would refuse that trade unless Adelaide did a **** load of grovelling. Not sure what you expect to pay for a
Happy to trade them in but they would be worth sfa... Gov is worth pick 23 every day of the week...
- KPD that hasn't played a senior game for 2 years...
- Winger that averages 9.5 games a year...

Why you offloading him then?Gov is worth pick 23 every day of the week
Especially after Ricutto had a go at him.Are we forgetting Gov quit on the Crows after the pre season camp fiasco? 0 chance he'd want to go back there I'd imagine
That's the least of it.Especially after Ricutto had a go at him.
Our most experienced player this year was Jack Newnes. No to Breust. I don’t want a young developing players position being taken up by a retirement fund player.
We have enough experienced players.
The best for me was 'I'd rather trade with Port than Crows' to create a Gov to Port rumourHow rumours start...
reubsblues Sheezel or Phillipou would be nice
Arr0w Won't be there with pick 10
reubsblues Let's trade with Suns, they'll have Adelaide's pick 5
Arr0w How we gonna get pick 5?
... time passes
Michael Jezz Could trade 10 and Gov to get 5
Bletch Hypothetical - Gov wants to go to Adelaide, and we get pick 5... still don't get Sheezel or Phillipou
Rumour - Gov's going to Adelaide.
Board - 2 pages of discussion on rumour.![]()

Based on?Sounds like Dow wants to stay, which surprises me, Gonna be an interesting trade period for sure
Andy Maher reported it this morningBased on?
Poster on draft pages says Brayden George's injury on weekend has been confirmed as an ACL. Sad news for the kid, and will likely see him slip down the rankings. Would have been high on our target list at pick 10 you'd think. But I'd doubt we'll look at him now, even at 2nd round.
I think you're probably right - a team with a low injury profile, who can wear a young player being out the whole of next year. e.g. Brisbane, Sydney, Richmond, Geelong, Melbourne.I'd be happy to pick him up late in the second round if we can manufacture a pick (and he's still there). Honestly, though, I reckon one of the sides that goes deep in finals will happily take a chance on him knowing that they don't need him to come straight into the seniors in his first year. Pick 20-22.
