you dont know that.
Which part don't we know?
  • We know that Brown retired with a year left on his contract, and paying out that final year is included in our 2022 salary cap.
  • We know that both Brown & Seedsman would be in our top-10 for salaries, given how young & inexperienced most players on our list are.
  • We know that clubs are required to pay 95% of the salary cap every year, and Brown's salary would take us close to 100%.
It doesn't take a huge leap of logic to think that we don't have space in the salary cap for paying out both Brown & Seedsman in the same year.

There's a $13.5m salary cap and you have to spend 95% every year.

If you do the math, that means at most we had $675k space.

Let's say Brown was on $450k. That only leaves $325k to pay out Seedsman, which wouldn't be enough.

you can also go to 105% at times. Brown would have been $550k-$600k and Seed the same, so e en with the full 10% range available it'd have been a close thing.

exactly and given we dont know how much of brown or seed salary was in 2023 from their deals, easily both could be paid out

personally i would have paid out brown and mcpherson though

we they want to keep him is beyond me

They probably kept McPherson to keep the sanfl competitive. Not sure why we recontracted McAsey. The bloke is a bust.

Given we had to keep Gibbs on the list in 2021, then 2022 is logically the first year that we could begin frontloading, so I doubt we'd managed to pay out a lot of future cap. And Seed was a brand new 2 year extension, so no matter how structured, the full value of the contract will have need to be retired in the current year.

You can't say that "easily both could be paid out". Common sesne has shown that this is much more unlikely than likely.

I'd rather keep McPherson for another year than take pick 90 in the rookie draft of a terrible draft year anyway.

Trade into the second round for a tall, get Max, and then use a late pick on someone. Then flip Seedsman for Turner or similar. That and Rankine is a good off season, all things considered.

Been saying that for 2 years...I'm not late to the party with big Will.

What I'm not sure about is the 199cm, South had him at 200cm last year so surely he hasn't lost a cm in a year?

I'm told Will is a bit of a lad (character wise) but in a good way, very outgoing etc..One of my old mates at the Panthers described him as a "bit of a different cat".

So you mate suggests he will be going from the Panthers to the Lions, Tigers or the Cats? :D

can he play KPD?

thats a shame would love a 200cm agile defender

Here's your boy...rookie chance too.
Definitely a project player but the kind you draft late/rookie as KPD's...pretty decent when utilised in ruck as well so also has that potential.

Absolutely amazing..JUST after mid terms, when an election was run with Democrats saying Democracy was on the ballot and a sham Jan 6th committee was front and centre of their campaign, a little thing just slipped out..looks like there were FBI plants in the proud boys that were at the capital building on Jan 6th.

So just to get this right, IF the FBI were there as is being reported and the FBI were on board with this group prior to Jan 6th and allowed the riot to happen, it looks like this whole thing was a set up and again, the FBI have interfered in an election to help the democrats.

Just to wipe out any bias claims on sources, here is an article from one of the Democrats biggest supporters and defenders - NYT

The F.B.I. had as many as eight informants inside the far-right Proud Boys in the months surrounding the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, recent court papers indicate, raising questions about how much federal investigators were able to learn from them about the violent mob attack both before and after it took place.
WTF has this crap got to do with our list management. Has the FBI infiltrated out list management team?
