The same footy department appointed to oversee a list ‘rejuvenation’ and instead crashed the plane into the side of a mountain leaving a smouldering wreck behind?

Those ones?
I'm optimistic around how the rebuild is going .....IMO it'll just click at some stage

Comparing other teams rebuilds .....they have their matures as "key" structural players that support their youth .....our matures, outside Tex, are more role players

Very disappointed this year with Smith, Brown, Crouch, and ROB ....simply haven't supplied the necessary on-field leadership

During PS ....my POV was we would be very competitive, as long as our experienced players weren't injured ....our depth was still very thin, as far as experience .....particularly in the talls dept

Losing Seedsman, Sloane, and the poor comeback of Milera, has hurt .....and when you dovetail this with the poor output of the experienced players .....the yo-yo performances are understandable

But the fact remains our talls are our Achilles heel & #1 issue .....too inexperienced in DEF & inconsistent FWD's

He's hard task master, we will see as it's looking likely McGrath will go.

Dodoro didn't do well on the Dylan Shiels trade.

That was trading in. He got a top 10 for Saad, top ten for Daniher (via dodgy compo) - no way would he give McGrath away without a top 12 pick back

We're not a bad team because we have bad players. We're a bad team because we're the youngest & least experienced team list in the entire competition. There's a major difference there.

Those young players have generally been contracted well into the future, allowing them time to develop.

But are the young players any good? Thats the question.

Is North Melbourne not a bad team?

I think our problem, much like North, is we cut too far too late. Compounded by losing the players we wanted to keep and almost having no choice but to keep players we wanted to lose. Makes it harder to measure anything when so many - coaches, players, footy managers - are learning on the job. It's a list management failure no doubt.

We're only just starting to be in a position to properly judge players drafted in 2017 (Fogarty, McPherson, Murphy), 2018 (Jones, Hamill, Sholl, McAdam, Strachan, Butts) and 2019 (McAsey, Schoenberg, Worrell, Gollant) when ideally we'd be further along. Many good players drafted prior left for greener pastures and most of the others were busts. It didn't leave much when Nicks started in 2020.

For that reason I think we're going to have to be patient for a bit longer.

criticism of list management is fine, often valid. But at least get the stats right, or the argument loses credibility. Trying to drive a point home with infactual data is poor commentary. View attachment 1411349

You’re arguing over 1cm for each player except hately?
Google each name and you can probaly find 3 different heights for each player.

What’s this talk of McGrath
Talk around McGrath moving from ESS at years end .....he's just a good player ATM ....not what you'd expect of a #1 pick ....no real weapons at AFL level

Amon to Blues because of connection with Voss a possibility, Blues also shown interest in Sholl.

Adelaide holding firm on the timing of contract talks with Tex. Brisbane maybe keen if they lose McStay.
In the meantime former captain Walker seems to be orchestrating a media circus when he has been told talks will follow a similar time-frame to last year, when he was recontracted by July 1.
Meanwhile Adelaide is hopeful No. 6 Fischer McAsey’s new role as a forward might keep him at the club despite decision time looming on his future.

He is contracted to 2023 but could look at a move back to Melbourne if he can’t crack into the team, with the key tall kicking four goals in the last four games in the SANFL.

Where's Andy McPherson at in his career.
Been on the list for 5 years, seems to still be struggling with soft tissue injuries regularly.
Does he takes Smith's spot next year ?
Is he worth persisting with or is he a delist.
As always, Hamish had big wraps on him when he was drafted, talked about his leadership skills

Trending towards delist I'd say. Unless Jones gets pushed into the midfield and he gets another shot.

Jones cant even get a game at the moment, not sure if they will give him a shot in the midfield.
I guess McPherson has a another year on his contract so I think 2023 is going to be a very big year for plenty of players.
Some days he looks really steady down back with good disposal and then he is prone to having a shocker as well.

More I mean Chayce is the incumbent back pocket.
McPherson doesn't have a spot.

Most players play better when they're surrounded by good players. We have so few senior players left, and those who are are of dubious quality (e.g. Crouch), that it's almost impossible to say how good our youngsters could/will be.

Give them time to develop as a group, and they may just surprise us (in a good way).

That's not to say that there aren't obvious holes, where we seriously lack quality - tall forwards (other than TT) being the obvious example.

Just saying if Kane wants to argue we are too short then takes a combined 10cm off the players he uses as his example, it's a poorly made point.

So which are the correct heights given you can find a multitude of different heights and weights for all players?

Turner on 5AA, no other club spoke to him.

His manager told him yesterday we were only going to take 1 pick.

w***ers.
So we were the only club out of 18 that even thought Turner was worth a try. Isn't it fantastic that we have so much more insight than the other 17 clubs when it comes to recruiting!

A missed opportunity to snag a kid with upside worth a try PLUS get Turner if you actually think he's doing more than bolstering the SANFL team, which is what I reckon they're doing to appease supporters - Ooooh, look how good our SANFL side is, things are so rosy!

And that sort of stuff should be easy to know.

Nominees had a centrally done then distributed independent medical if and only if there were 2 or more clubs that nominated them. He wouldn't have been on that list, so we absolutely would have (should have at least) known he would be there at our second pick.

Clearly he was our one player of interest.

Sigh...

You've made that call already?

This extraordinarily young list - you've already decided it's a smouldering wreck?
