If there’s anyone we should be targeting it should be Zac Baileyfrom Brisbane. Gun, has the agility like Judd in his prime. Will probably be a midfielder one day.. a very good one.PLAYERCARDSTART33Zac Bailey

We really should be looking to add speed to our club wherever we can and I'm not sure Gould is that kind of player.
Agree. It is, but not by any meaningful distance. We're still talking about a 3-4 hour flight, regardless of whether he's in Brisbane or Adelaide.
For me, a few extra minutes tacked onto the end of a long plane flight isn't meaningful. If the options were a 1-2 hour drive, vs the long plane flight, then that would be meaningful.
Australia is a big country, with huge distances between our capital cities. In this context, a meaningful difference in distance is one where travel times are significantly shorter, and/or travel options are more flexible. For example, if the options are a 3-4 hour drive, vs a 3-4 hour flight, the drive wins because everyone has a car, and they can leave at any time; in contrast, there may be only a few flights per day, and the flights are more expensive. That's a meaningful difference. In contrast, the difference between a 3hr 30min flight, and a 3hr 45min flight, is not meaningful.
Historically Darwin had closer ties to Adelaide, because the NT was administered by SA until it gained independence in the 1970s. I'm not sure that those ties are terribly binding on someone like Bailey.

In watching todays debarkle V GWS its clearly we don't have a Classy Mid.Should we look at De Goey ????
All though I still think we are rebuilding, its time to get the cheque book out. Dees and Lions have both identified holes in their lists and traded to fix them, as are the Hawks a decade ago.
We don't need to throw $1 mill a year at one single player but looking forward other than Rachele and Thilthorpe we don't have anyone that will command big dollars.
Yep agree with Cook but with a player like Berry, what's his ceiling? Accumulating type mids shouldn't be over paid, as much as I rate Berry Im not sure his potential is more than a high level inside accumulator.Cook will in time as well. Firmly deserves to be apart of the conversation with Rachele and Thilthorpe as talents who'll shape how far Adelaide can go post-rebuild.
Berry, Butts, Schoenberg will also need to be pretty well paid if we want to retain them over the journey.

Rachele, Thilthorpe, Cook, Taylor, Doedee, Dawson, Butts, Schoenberg, Pedlar, Hinge are the future core pretty much. The club just needs to keep bringing talent in through the trade and draft and moving players out who aren't long term players.Cook will in time as well. Whoa whoa whoaNah, Berry is going to be a rather valuable player in the long term. After all, it's not just accumulating that he brings (well, once he figures that part out at an AFL level), but one of the best defensive games in the league (which he probably has now) and he is developing a bit of explosiveness. He should easily end up in that bottleneck of high quality midfielders that exist in this league, probably at a similar peak to a Jack Steele.

How so ?? The kids showing more than a number of our kids and off of far less footy experience to boot.I like cook, I see a nice player in there but wow he’s been massively overrated in here over the last couple of weeks
Massively.

I don't see superstar, but he looks a very, very good prospect
I might be reading the room wrong, but I can't see many people if any doing that either.Well then, you answered your own question
He's almost doubled his output from last year, going from 3.5 kicks & 9 disposals per game to 6.3 and 15.3. He still has a long way to go, obviously, but he's on an upwards trajectory. At some point, I think he will start to believe that he belongs at the AFL level, and then he'll really blossom as a player.Accumulation is probably actually his biggest issue atm. Hopefully he can start getting more kicks than tackles soon.

Last year he played 17 games. He had 10+ disposals in 8 of them, with a best of 15 in R13 (vs St Kilda). This year he's only played 2 games (so far), with disposal counts of 15 & 16 - both equalling or bettering his previous best.Whilst I broadly agree with the sentiment, last years averages are affected by a couple of absolutely dog days late in the year when he was he completely buggered and only got three possessions.
