Wasn't there a fair bit of interest around McAdam and Freo last year?

If Shane could hold his spot and become a strong 30+ goal forward with X-Factor this year (which he's on pace to do), he could actually be worth something on the trade table.

Plus with Sonny Waters being 32 at the start of next year and having lost a step over the last few years, Freo could use another spark player in the F50 to continue their fast rise up the ladder.
It would be part of the deal to hopefully get Cox if he did want to go there

General thoughts on the Collingwood board were that he was small, slow, had poor skills (especially kicking) and bad football IQ
Gleaned all of that in his total of 4 AFL and the 6 VFL games where he was very good in 2021 after missing a complete year with the Covid protocols in Victoria.....185cm 83kg is small now? Bad football I.Q. when he can find the pill in bunches..OK.

Missed early games and chunk of preseason with osteo pubis but gradually getting up to speed after a slowish start where he mainly played forward. Last couple of of weeks he's done more rucking and he's starting to fire on all cylinders.

Going to be interesting to see how many talks get a run for SA at the upcoming Nationals given the plethora of tall talent available.

Harry Barnett, Tom Scully Harry Lemmey, Isaac Keeler, Will Verrall might be a stretch fitting them all in.
How did Tom Scully go in the state game?

Can get him on a 6 month contract if he nominates it, so won't be long term, just for the rest of the season.

I get vibes that Hamish doesn't ever massively rate the mid-year draft.
I think the advent/impact of Covid in Victoria has changed some recruiters thinking on that at least in the short term.

AFC on hearing that bio:

Sholl would go for a 3rd/4th round pick only. Say in the 40-50 range
I'd be more optimistic than that.
2 X rising star nomination playing for a bottom 4 team. There will be interest from clubs who will think they can develop him further.

I think we have so much dead wood to delist or trade before Lachie. As we improve, so will he.😁

Well that's what they said. Their board was critical of drafting him in the first place over a key position player like Riccardi

Hopefully our first pick in the draft is a classy mid
I'm hoping TT can be our strong marking key forward
Maybe Hamill the line breaking HBF
and Rachele our classy small forward
Then pick a ruckman and KPD
Can find key defenders or ruckmen later in the draft or with clever trading.

We need to be using our top picks on quality midfielders.

Missed some handy ones there just off the top of my head.

Sean Darcy
Tom De Koning
Braydon Preuss
Nick Bryan
Sam Hayes

And Rowan Marshall who I was very bullish about in both his draft year for the Rebels and the following year when he was starring for the now defunct North Ballarat Roosters on the VFL.

We were also heavily into Jarrod Witt's but the Gold Coast offered him better deal contract length wise.
Surely we should he targeting decent 2nd ruckmen at clubs where they are not getting much opportunity like we did with Jacobs.

Eg. At Fremantle, Meek will always be 2nd to Darcy.

Fremantle also have plenty of key defenders if we feel the need for someone else to support Butts.

What meaningful difference is there in terms of list management?
I’m all for targeting an established talent such as how we targeted Dawson, we already know we need as much of that as we can get

When it comes to a 25yo lighting up the twos though, eight times out of ten you’re going to get a Patrick Wilson type. If your chances of drafting a list clogger are equal no matter what the age, you may as well get a younger player that you think you can squeeze a bit more development out of (particularly for a rebuilding club like us)

Did I just read that Kim Kantilla got a MSD exemption?

Didn't he play really well against us a few weeks ago?
Surely he would considering for 1 of our 2 list spots.
