I’m very much in Sanders’ camp on this one. ‘Smouldering wreck’ is putting it lightly. You've made that call already?
This extraordinarily young list - you've already decided it's a smouldering wreck?
Can be the only explanation as to why we put both Sloane and Seedsman on the LTI, only to then pass on the 2nd pick. We obviously didn't think anyone else in the country deserved a list spot.
List has all the hallmarks of a low peak then getting stuck in that mid table vortex, not good enough to challenge, too good to fall to the bottom.I’m very much in Sanders’ camp on this one. ‘Smouldering wreck’ is putting it lightly.

Our drafting has been below par, way too many players that are not what I call "finals quality" where you need to be able to perform at an even higher level of pressure.
I might start a thread and get posters to tell me who is in their 2024/25 side challenging for a top 8 position because barring some stunning recruitment coups we aren't likely to be challenging this year or next. Think you'll find there's a lot of pieces to find before then - and a lot of luck needed.
So assuming we have to make three changes, who are we delisting?I don't think it's inventing something to complain about. Our contracting has left us tight for list spots.
I mean these are the 10 uncontracted players
Billy Frampton
Elliot Himmelberg
Mitch Hinge
James Rowe
Taylor Walker
Lachlan Gollant
James Borlase (R)
Tariek Newchurch (R)
Patrick Parnell (R)
Ben Davis (R)
About half of these guys we definitely want to re-sign - Walker, Gollant, Parnell, and Hinge at the very least - which leaves us only six free spots, three of which are rookies. And that's with us delisting Rowe who is unlikely to be delisted
I also believe we have to upgrade Butts and Strachan, which if we re-contract the above 4 leaves us with just 1 senior list spot for the draft
Would be very surprisedDavis and Hinge
Davis, Seed (retired), Frampton. Himmelberg and Rowe delisted and re-drafted as rookiesSo assuming we have to make three changes, who are we delisting?
Davis, maybe Seed through injury.

I'd be very surprised to see Hinge depart... and Davis is on the rookie list - so culling him doesn't free up a position for the National Draft.Davis and Hinge
Actually it can, because we have 5 rookies.I'd be very surprised to see Hinge depart... and Davis is on the rookie list - so culling him doesn't free up a position for the National Draft.
Has to be 1 of himmelberg or frampton. Bring in a rookie tall..literally could not do worse and might be a lot betterSo assuming we have to make three changes, who are we delisting?

It means they're waiting on him potentially saying "I want to come to SA to live".Cleary saying both Adelaide clubs are ‘keeping tabs’ on Dunkley, whatever that means
If tonight's match is any guide, he wouldn't be worth having.Cleary saying both Adelaide clubs are ‘keeping tabs’ on Dunkley, whatever that means
One of Frampton/Berg and Rowe I would certainly expect to be put on the rookie list. I believe Borlase and Newchurch can spend one more year on the Cat B list, so just for SANFL depth reasons you'd think they'd be retained.Would be very surprised

Possibly might see the trading of a couple of contracted players, too (Sholl, McAsey, Worrell, Fogarty all chances here)

Currently we have OOC at the end of the year

6 players OOC with us currently having picks 4, 22, 40 and 76 in the draft. 76 is likely earmarked for upgrading Butts to the senior list, we've also got Strachan on the rookie list who I believe is his last year allowed too, so 6 OOC players and 2 spots taken up by needing to upgrade players already, so 2 upgrades + 3 picks means we have 1 out of that list to keep on the senior list. Walker is a given to get an extra year you'd think, which leaves Gollant, Hinge and one of Frampton/Berg out in the cold.
So definitely can't see a scenario where we're not looking to off-load a player or too to free up some more spots. I imagine Parnell might have been given a shot just to see how he keeps his head above water in the AFL too before deciding what to do with him as well.
A - We don't need to use a draft pick to upgrade players from the rookie list. That system was done away with years ago.
B - We also get 2x "free" senior list positions back, when list sizes return to normal in 2023.
My guess:
That leaves us with 5x senior list positions vacant (3 players removed, 2 free positions due to list sizes changing). We upgrade Strachan & Butts, both of whom have reached the maximum time on the rookie list. We then make 3 selections at the ND.
- Davis (R) delisted
- Frampton delisted
- Seedsman retired
- Rowe transferred to rookie list
There is an argument going around that we are too small.I don’t think we can hang anyone when there is different data out there.
Tex has previously taken a pay cut to keep other players.
Tex has been our top goal kicker in 2019, 2020, 2021 and is leading in 2022.
Tex was a top 3 goal kicker and captain of our club in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
And you have the balls to call him selfish for wanting a little more security and a longer contract. After all the bullshit we have pulled as a club over the past 5 years, why should he be loyal.
Tex has given to the AFC a lot more than the club has given to him.
A lot, what value would you place on those 2?If we're going to have another crack at JHF this year, would North want a reliable grunt possession winner to replace him. So if we added Keays or Laird, whichever they'd take, what more would we need to add?
i left out the bit where they're added to our first pick. So 5, Laird and how much more would be required? Is it still an earlyish first rounder?A lot, what value would you place on those 2?
To trade him whole contracted, they would want two top 10 picks and 2nd minimum.
