What's the latest on North's priority pick request? Mid first round?
It's been suggested that a pick like that is intended to be traded for players. Let's go with that in this hypothetical.
That pick sounds pretty suitable in a Rankine trade.
Say our offer is Sholl, McAsey and Crouch, what do the other clubs offers look like? Remember the intention of the priority pick is for it to be traded in this scenario, so no, they can't just take it to the draft.

Ben JungferOK and his name is?
PP don't get given with proviso's that they must be traded for a player. Norf's PP or PP's! will be used by Clarko as he sees fit. What's the latest on North's priority pick request? Mid first round?

Scholl, McAsey and Crouch do not equal a pick 11.
The value of the pick you suggest probably improves simply because Clarksons going there and some players may be enticed to join who others wouldn't have. Will be interesting if anyone who played under him jumps ship for a descent paycheck, Hill has mentioned it apparently. What's the latest on North's priority pick request? Mid first round?

Fascinating off season coming up for us.
There's been a lot of talk from us about getting in a mature player to assist our midfield. Tex has said our midfield isn't getting it done and we need someone with experience and proven ability to get better.
Rankine isn't that player.
If JHF isn't coming this season, and that seems likely, I wouldn't be surprised if Hopper or Dunkley have been in our sights.
Could be a case of splitting pick 5 for two firsts and offloading one to GC for Rankine and the other to Dogs/GWS.
Ok, put your hand up if you think we hould get Matt Rendell back to the club.
"What I’m thinking is we (the Crows) give up the two first-round picks for Rankine this year, and try to get two second-rounds back. “They’re going to need a second-round pick for Max Michalanney anyway, the father-son. They’ve got one anyway but (will need) another, they’ll need the points."

I am feeling the same, I'm not as nervous about losing players anymore. The situation is a bit different now as our younger kids make up the core of the squad, they are forming a tight group and all seem to be loving their time here.
ps. Im a bit cautious (likely PTSD) after the many years of ex-AFC players (Lever, McGovern, etc) saying they love it here.
However, for the first time in a long time, I'm optimistic about the club's future. Will be pushing for 9-10 next year and finals in 2024. Bookmark people!
Does this mean Nicks is not an s*** Coach ? ......that Hamish isn't that bad ? .....that the Club has a plan, and we're not another 5 years away from some success ?I am feeling the same, I'm not as nervous about losing players anymore. In contrast to when we were constantly losing younger players, the bulk of our squad was older and they all had a close bond. The younger kids were probably more on the outer back then.
The kids all seem to be really enjoying themselves at the club at the moment and there seems to be a strong connection and good culture. If we can keep this core group together and and some more class, I can see us rising up the ladder pretty quickly over the next few years.
Way to miss the point again Wayne. Nicks hasn’t been criticised for not building a culture, it’s his game plan and selections which have sucked. He’s corrected some of that over recent weeks and what do you know not only are we playing a more entertaining brand, we are doing so and playing Worrell, no Crouch or Hately on the wing and developing our midfield.Does this mean Nicks is not an s*** Coach ? ......that Hamish isn't that bad ? .....that the Club has a plan, and we're not another 5 years away from some success ?

We still need that tallish classy Mid .....I've got confidence in Gollant / Himmelberg .....just need McAsey to stand up nowI gotta say they have won me over somewhat in the back half of the year.
I no longer feel we have a desperate, urgent need for midfield talent. Still work to do but Berry and Soligo have changed the landscape. I really rate Pedlar and Taylor also. Rachele still up our sleeve too.
Phillipou and Rankine would add nicely, no doubt, but I just am not as worried.

People forget during "team development" there's a lot of experimentation that goes on ..... it's never been about success in 2022 ....and the need to have players play multiple roles is critical
Just adding the final 3-4 pieces of the jigsaw now .....just need my boy Pedlar to get AFL fit in the off-season !!
Nicks will be fine so long as he keeps implementing the suggestions/obvious improvements suggested right here on BigFooty.
Even if there is a lag in uptake, he's proven a willingness to accept(some of)the wisdom found on this forum and has started to reap the reward of doing so.
He's tracking upward. Now just needs to introduce this resource to Olsen and the Board.
Yes amazing the Crows could have arguably the most assistant coaches and development personnel in the league, all on volunteer services too.Nicks will be fine so long as he keeps implementing the suggestions/obvious improvements suggested right here on BigFooty.

Smith won’t be, but the rest are possibles. Add in Crouch, Scholl (?) Frampton. This summer is very good time for a clean outThe following players should be on the block. It doesn't necessarily mean we would actively offer them out to clubs, but we should be willing to listen to any offers that come our way and yes, I am acutely aware that many of these players have little to no value but their presence and inexplicable affinity to making Nicks engorged each week at selection meetings is hurting our team:
Brodie Smith
Ben Keays
Ned McHenry
Wayne Milera
Chayce Jones
James Rowe
Reilly O'Brien
Package them all up for a fourth rounder and a couple of 5ths and pick swaps in a multi club deal? Great.
I have no idea why we don't go for Grundy if the Pies will pay some of the salary. It's worth a punt.
I know that it’s a point that has been hammered home so many times, but sweet Jesus did the clubs 2018 draft efforts severely set it back… even the worst of Port’s trio from that year (Duursma) is head and shoulders above Jones and McHenry, who are struggling mightily to have an impact - that’s positive at least - on any game they play.Way to miss the point again Wayne. As for Hamish, imagine if we hadn’t blown 4 first rounders and yes I know, give McAsey another 3 years and he might get a game.
As for how far away we are from success, well given we are 20 years and counting, who knows how long it will take and if this plan will work. But I know with better use of of our first round picks we’d have more chance.
Lost me at when you said Duursma was streets ahead of Jones and McHenry. Those last two are just average to ok players, exactly like Duursma. None are setting the world alight.I know that it’s a point that has been hammered home so many times, but sweet Jesus did the clubs 2018 draft efforts severely set it back… even the worst of Port’s trio from that year (Duursma) is head and shoulders above Jones and McHenry, who are struggling mightily to have an impact - that’s positive at least - on any game they play.
I think we just have to comfort ourselves that Fogarty, Thilthorpe, Rachele, Soligo, Berry, Worrell - plus a couple of others - are all looking like very good players in the making. Add Rankine and nail a couple of other trades and some other high picks and maybe, just maybe will the club turn it around and seriously compete for a tilt at a flag in 4-5 years time.
