I’d be getting rid of

Turner
Crouch - if no one wants him pay him out and piss him off to free the list spot up
Seedsman- this lad aint coming back so talk to the AFL about being allowed to pay him out outside the cap. If they are serious about the head then they should come to the party.
Sholl- trade for nothing if we have to
Davis
Rowe

And keeping Frampton as KPD depth. If the Pies are offering him 3 years then he’d probably take two years from us to save himself from having to relocate his entire life again.
Frampton is gone.

Time to move on...

Keays is staying though.

?WTF?
He improved massively when you compare last season to this season.
No reason to think this won't happen again with another off season.

This site is hilarious, SANFL round 1 - 5 he's hardly talked of at all, rounds 5-15 he should play in the 1's or the club admin should be sacked, round 15+ he should be delisted or the club admin should be sacked.
Rubbish..

Improved massively?.... seriously I've seen some sugarcoating but that takes the prize

I reacon so.. Pies are offering him more and he’d be stupid not to take it.

Keays is staying cause no one else wants him..

Just like no one else wanted him except us when the lions delisted him…

He can play SANFL.. taylor and a fit pedlar in instead please

If we don’t move on 4-5 players this year, we could come unstuck given the players coming out of contract at the end of 2023.

Potentially Brown, McPherson, Hately, Sloane and Walker won’t be offered extensions (Sloane and Walker will be dependent on how their bodies hold up). Strachan may look for opportunities elsewhere.

If we don’t move on a couple of the others with contracts expiring in 2023 this year, including Seedsman, Crouch, McAsey etc., we could be left with 7-8 list spots to fill in next years draft/trade period. May not have a first rounder either?

I assume you are talking about Newchurch by your description and I couldn’t be bothered going back through

He has definitely enough weapons to persevere for another couple of years in my view. Even with his deficiencies he is still better than several we give a game too

We played so much better when he was moved out of the middle and I'd definitely prefer taylor over him in the forward line. With phillipou possibly coming in theres no room for him in the team.

Keays is the ideal guy for a lockdown role on the oppo's best mid and when resting, he can play out of the forward line where he can use his 2 way running for the Joe the goose goals he showed he can get

In those last four games they moved keays to Half forward.. he played the game of his life there against Carlton.. then did **** all in the next three games..

But what stuck out in those next three games was how poor our midfield looked when they threw Keays back in the middle for bursts.. it completely ruined the cohesion that laird had going with berry, soligo, shoey etc..

What it showed is that Keays needs to be kept away from our midfield.. which means he plays as a HF/small forward type..

But with Rankine in.. Rachele back.. pedlar hopefully fit… and Taylor showing he needs to be given an AFL debut.. and maybe phillipou coming in… how can we seriously justify keeping keays in that forward line?.. all those blokes have far more skill and potential. Keeping keays in there over one of those lads just cause keays “runs hard” would be detrimental to the team.

Keays will be perfect next year as a leader in the SAnFL side where he can set the standard to the youth.. he’ll dominate back there..

Oh… and I also forgot to add..

Rory “i’ll be in for Round 1” Sloane.. who clearly already thinks he is gonna waltz straight back into the starting 22 no questions asked..

He’ll be looking to squeeze himself into that half forward spot too no doubt!…

We need to get keays out of the leadership group. He's definitely not an automatic selection.

Did it successfully for one game - didn’t kick a goal and was pretty much redundant in the three games following.

Why is that?
We may delist Seedsman,
Potential Trades for any of sholl, frampton, crouch, Rowe, mcasey
Maybe delist borlase

We bring in rankine, draft 3 players…that could still leave a spot or two surely?

(Granted I’m no expert on list management)
At this stage our likely outs from the senior list are Rowe, Frampton, Sholl, Crouch and Seedsman - that's 5. We need to promote Butts & Strachan off the rookie list, as they are both contracted for 2023 and have already maxed out their time on the rookie list. That's 3 vacancies. We trade for Rankine, and we're down to 2 vacancies. We need to make at least 1 live selection in the ND, and they'll probably want to make 2. That leaves no more list vacancies, unless McAsey goes as well.

Borlase is on the Cat B rookie list, so delisting him doesn't free up a position that we can actually use.

Davis is another likely (near certain) delisting - but he's on the rookie list, so getting rid of him doesn't create a position that we could fill by signing an FA.

Jez McLennan delisted by GC. Former first round pick small defender.
from SA.
We aren't exactly flush with small defender prospects (Chayce Jones our best, and he's not even a defender really)

Aren’t we running with 37 on senior list at the moment and technically can go to 38? Obviously reduces our rookie numbers ?

Yes... but historically we've normally run with 36 - so if anything we're likely to reduce the senior list size, rather than increase it.

The only reason we went to 37 this year was because they were desperate to get Nankervis, so they decided to grab him in the PSD rather than give another club a chance to grab him before we could in the RD.

Don’t forget Sloane has to find a spot somewhere.

Given we have cap space surely we would go to 38 if we wanted the extra player.

We’re desperate for spots so we should be going for a full main list.

Also it sounds Seedsman will kept on for next year.

IMO ....I think the Club will make a late call & give Seedsman every opportunity .....however, if he can't undertake a full pre-season at 31 YO ....he'll be a late retirement

No PS training, effectively 2 years ....no Club will carry that player at 31

It's possible. Unlikely, but possible.

It seems to me that they're using the extra cap space to attract players from other clubs - last year it was Dawson, this year it's Rankine, next year JUH(?). It doesn't seem likely to me that they'd be filling the senior list completely, just because the salary cap situation allows them to.

We're not desperate for spots. We have enough spots for all of the expected list changes - 2x rookie upgrades, Rankine, 2x ND selections. We just don't have spots for speculative DFA selections, or any other fantasy moves.

I think Seedsman will get the Gibbs treatment - moved to the rookie list, then placed on the inactive list. He'll still be at the club, just not on the senior list.
