If we didn't play Melksham this year, who would have been next in line? As far as depth goes I reckon throwing a kid in who may not be quite ready has a bit more upside than rolling the dice with someone who is cooked. It's the easy option when you're down a player to put faith in some old timer, I don't trust our MC to be brave and pick the kids anymore.

I saw enough on debut to believe that to be the case. Not often a rookie listed player making his debut looks like hes played 50-100 games already like Turner did.

Yep doesn't need to be a superstar just needs to be a solid defender which I'm sure he is capable of. Hopefully Petty going forward actually works.

Spot on Toump. The reality is that Melk was playing the role JVR could have played. Hard to picture a circumstance where Melk is the best available forward pocket next year. If he is then we're so decimated by injury we're cooked anyway and I'm gonna be wondering if whoever we could have taken at pick 55 in the draft would have been a better option.

I too, would love to see WC swoop in and get him ahead of Freo. That being said, trades with Freo tend to work out very well for us, so either is good.

Would actually gain a bit of respect for Jackson if he ends up at WC, because it then becomes clear that him moving home wasn't conditional.

Also, hasn't really been discussed here, but picks 12 and 19 and seven years for Taranto is way overs IMO. The guy is solid, but he's one of the worst kicks I've ever seen, and as a Dees supporter, I've seen plenty of them.

Yeah agree. I'm a bit surprised at Richmond not at least getting a second rounder back. They've still got to try and get Hopper. I do wonder if the door is open for the Cats to swoop on him now.

I'm happy enough with the precedent though because Jackson is clearly worth more than Taranto. Good mids are a dime a dozen compared to young ruck/fwds.

They are all trolling or just stupid, acting like two pick 13‘s are actually good. Very few stars go outside the top 10. we Will be replacing a future star with depth players.

That seems steep, unless 27 is for Grundy then its fine.
