Looking at Twomey’s Top 30 (don’t mind his ratings most years) makes 13 a very frustrating spot to be.
Unless there’s a surprising slider, we’ll miss out on all the top echelon who I like the look of for our side. Phillipou probably the only slight possibility to still be there.

10-20 seems to be filled with some fairly speculative types and talls, plus a number of West Australians and there has to be a level of caution there unless you’re very certain they’re a star, a steal or they don’t care about not being tucked in to bed by Mummy every night.

Reckon we’re a big chance to either trade up or down. If we don’t like much around 13 we might be able to drop down towards 20 and add a future 2nd/3rd

And I hate the whole "I dont want to draft an interstate kid" idea Danster. I get youre gun shy after Jackson but its such a stupid way to draft. What if you have an interstate kid ranked much higher than everyone else available at your pick and you pass on him coz youre seeing ghosts that may or may not be there.
Yeah not drafting an inter state player who is much better than the Vic counter part is like not backing a $2 winner on the horses in preference of backing a $10 no chance shot. It's ****ing stupidity but I expect no less from Hamster

At worst the inter state kid shows a lot of promise and wants to go home and we cash in on them years down the track

Yeah just like Luke Jackson...what a headache that situation was.

Jackson got PAID.

'go home' was just convenient cover for being a mercenary. He was in the right place at the right time. You are salty at Jackson for doing the exact same thing that Lever did.

I don't get the Jackson hate. The club chose him, he didn't chose the club. He exceeded expectations during his tenure.

the premiership wasn't worth it?

We would have been better to draft Lachy Ash and not won the premiership because he is Victorian and would still be on our list

Why not mention Serong or Hayden Young? And yes, we would've been better off drafting them in hindsight

Yes, much better to have draftees who stay but not have a flag winning list.

some Roos bloke over on their trade and draft thread has fooled a few into thinking they're straight swapping pick 3 to the Bombers for pick 4 lol.
there must be a few who are still a bit butt sore over there.

I‘be been told that we are really likely to move pick 13 on draft night rather than use it.

Either trade up using next years, or trade down to go up next year.

Apparently we aren’t overly keen on the 10-15 range this year.
i'd like us to go after the Roos pick 3 myself. one of Cadman, Wardlaw, or Sheezel works for me.

How about 13 and our f1 for bombre’s 22 and f1.

From what I’ve seen the likely range for an Alwyn Davey bid is between 13 and 22 so they would be getting a reasonable pick before a bid.
We could very well end up with the same player at 22 that we would have picked at 13.

Next year could literally be anything lol. They could finish above us or we could win the flag and them the spoon.

why wouldn't you say your source? otherwise it means little. Regardless, I'm happy with this result if true.

Serong and Hayden Young are no slouches. And both played better footy than Jackson this year.

First premiership in almost 60 years and you're still pulling it apart like we messed up.

You're such a dumpster fire of a poster.

No shit. That’s why I make fun of the ‘go home’ excuse, because it’s an excuse.

Amazingly, as a Melbourne supporter I don’t consider it a problem when good players want to come to us but I do consider it a problem when good players want to leave us.

If we were trading down on the night I think we’d want a better deal than this. If a team wants your higher pick to get a certain player they love and they’ve got 5 minutes to make the deal, the onus is really in them to cough up.

If we wanted to get to 7 to pick someone we’d be giving up 13 and a F1 to get it

I think it would be about right, our Future first and 22 balance in bombers favour, then basically it’s 13 for the bombers future first which likely sits what pick 4-8?

I doubt the bombers give you the FF for 13

I think there's still a decent kid at pick 13/14. Phillipou or Hewett have been mentioned and would be great fits. However the top 5 are head and shoulders above the rest. No point trading up to 7 or 8 and giving away too much. We have a good haul for next year's draft already. The following years draft are always better supposedly, but no guarantees next draft will be better at all outside the top handful like this year.

Because Ash was the next Victorian kid drafted after Jackson and was seen as a classy ball user which we lacked

Serong was seen as another inside mid, which we had a bucket load of

You really aren't that smart are you?

If you thought the Bombers were a lock to finish bottom 2 it would be a decent deal.

But if a team is desperate to trade up they have to cough up a deal well in the other club’s favour to do it. Often 2 picks for the price of one slightly higher pick.
