I absolutely understand that. Getting Pick 7 is the bit that everyone is really hoping for. I will be ecstatic if that comes to fruition.

All I'm saying is that in a direct comparison between Bonner and Bowes, stats wise there is not much difference. And when they get out there on the field I'm not sure that having been instrumental in us getting Pick 7, should that happen, will see many of us forgive him if he turns out to be a "good ordinary" footballer. The same with Bonner as the steak knives if the rest of the deal is a really good one.

Id be very hesitant to take much in the way of steak knives. Wardlaw, Cadman and Logue sorts us out in defense, in the middle and for big forwards. We already have plenty gunning for flank, wing, pocket spots. We could likely use a ruck, but give it a year and see if CCJ or Xerri can step up.

How is it within the rules that a chairman of another club can contact a player, manager, and his parents multiple times in the first year of his AFL rookie contract? AFL absolutely lacks in anti tampering rules.

Chelsea did it to an Arsenal player that was contracted (Cashley Cole). Chelsea was hit with a 300k fine and 3 point deduction, Cole 75k, mourinho (chelsea manager) 75k fine (initially 200k), and Cole's manager was given a 100k fine plus had his licence revoked for 18 months.

Here you have kochie openly speaking about it...an example should be made. Everyone involved should be punished. I know they can't now but rules should be put in place so this can't happen in the future. Do what the EPL does and ban it until the final 6 months of their contract.

Or could all be shit. That is the risk you take when you shotgun, the risk you take when you go for a top of the line is they might not come good or injuries might ruin their career/potential.

The kind of picks and players Port is offering are ho hum, we can get that kind of shit in a good Brad Scott year, it was getting that calibre of pick top end pick, we kind of lucked out with LDU. I don't think we should cheaply sell off JHF because when we go up the ladder we are going to get these types of picks, nobody is going to gift us a great pick 1 player for the chump change Port is offering.

Understand that the difference in attitude they have with Butters vs the difference they have with JHF. If they had JHF and he was Victorian and he wanted to go back to Victoria, do you think they would take pick 8 a future 1st that could be 12+ and some potato that can't get a game for them?

The language going on is worrisome because it is just bullshit that is trying to equate landfill to beachside property, quality>quantity. You can't say do you want to swap a top of the line Ferrari for an equivalent value of Toyotas, you only gonna drive the one car, quality > quantity.

When Carlton went after Judd, they gave a topline kid and picks, different ballgame but same concept, they didn't accept a bag of shit picks, it was win-win, I mean, Carlton were shit and Judd couldn't perform miracles, but they were adequately compensated. We would have to get extremely lucky to come out remotely close with this bag of shit. A pick 1 player after one year, we need something of quality in exchange and pick 8 is a roll of the dice.

An established or young and talented player in this deal for us is a non-negotiable along with the draft picks.

I think the mistake with JHF from amateur hour Brady is he set the tone that we are going to accept something shit. He should have said we want a top 5 pick this year and top 10 pick next year. I don't care how you do it, come back to me with the picks or don't come back at all, I think Crows will do this next year if he doesn't change his mind.
