There's a kid by the name of Zac Foot, who plays for Southport. He has serious speed and is very good, around goals. He's only 21 and played 2 games for Sydney, in 2020. I like the way he goes about it. Thoughts?
I’ve played football with him in the last few years. Very good footballer and good kid. Got cut from Sydney due to the reduced list sizes.

I saw him play last week his last quarter when the game was on the line was sensational he’s quick a good kick and wins his own football.

Ok pals, 5th Wizard has objected to me cheering for your PP allocations in the draft assistance thread, so here we are, now let me propose a brief Freo centric discussion, given your clubs interest in PILFERING our well developed and pending superstars of the game, and what it will take to get them, given your pick 1 is off the table.

Whats the potential cost range of Logue, Tucker, Acres and Meek, as various components of a package deal, or individually?

Logue. Ticks all the athletic boxes, which allows him to match or dominate any player physically. Can play on the body big boys, close down or out sprint players on the lead, compete in the air against taller oponents, and can smother the livewire smalls, who simply can't compete against him. Would be a luxury back pocket/3rd tall in my best 22 at Freo. Not a slow fat lazy slob like some talls, and kicking is adequate, although he's not a distributor. I'd have tried him out 5 years ago as an old school FF, but alas, our coaches are historically slow on the uptake.

Tucker is a pacey wingman/flanker, with a neat kick. Had had games/seasons where he's looked like/mid process of breaking out, but a couple of inconvenient injuries have **** blocked that. He's not the cliche injury prone type, but he's had a few injuries, kek. He's lamented on our board for being slow with the ball, but to be honest, I think it's unfair given our forward line and ball movement in the time he's been available at the club. He was earmarked as the 1st choice winger for us durinf the PS this year, but it went pear shaped after you scumbags KO'd him right after half time when he was playing well prior to that. I blame all of you. Occasionally goes unnoticed, but not sure if that's the team previously being average, the role, returning to the team etc.

Acres is linked to Carlton, where #28 looks like the obvious cut and dry option. His nickname for me was The Spaceman/SpaceCadet, while the playing group and some of our posters know him as The Sheriff. In a trade prior to this season, in a trade I'd have taken the piece of paper you pick off your pecker after running to the loo during the streak after a goal. Needless to say, I don't rate him, but again, others somehow do.

Meek is a promising Ruckman entering his prime, that would get a gig for every club in the land, a game for many if not most, and a 1st choice ruckman for some. I understand you have Xerri, who based on my limited knowledge of him (stats wise he appeared to be quite handy on his posession/tap count prior to his foot injury during the season, but I've almost nil first hand observations of him as a player/rickshaw artist), CCJ, your depth, and obviously Goldy who is on his last legs. Is there a need/interest?

Value:

Griff, I'd want/expect a first round pick for him. Not a super star, but has none of the weaknesses or flaws that you'd black list defenders for. Id you guys got pick 11, I'd want that, especially given the contract offer. 19 could be doable, if you sweetened the pot, perhaps 19 + your third?

Acres/Tucker. I rate Tucker higher, but Acres arguably demands more capital at the moment. Depending various factors, they can both be anywhere between 19 and your 3rd, which is early 3rd if I'm correct. If we got 28 for Acres from Carlton, I'd be happy to throw that in along with Tucker for your 2nd and 3rd, giving Tucker a points value of 28. Will take about that to get us to trade him.

Meek, I'd want a pick around 30, which is arguably a lot, but also arguably value for a potential first ruck. We played this guy in the same lineup along with Darcy this season, and while I'm not absolutely certain, possibly with Lobb also. 1st choice/reliable/capable back up Rickman don't grow on trees. I'd prefer to keep him, as he's so important to our list structure. If we got the rub of the green elsewhere with trades, could see us begrudgingly letting him go for your early 3rd.

Anyways, cbf proof reading, so please excuse the typos, my auto correct is s**t at the best of times.

Lemme know what you think, and where you guys think the doable trades or sticking points might be. All the best in Christmas Monday!

xo
First of all, we’ll done on the spirit in which you raise the conversation.

No idea on Meek or Acres as neither are likely to feature in a trade between our clubs.

Both Logue and Tucker are interesting and I can see this trade dragging out due to how far apart the two clubs might be to start with.

Logue: Presumeably North will be pointing out he’s your third choice KPD. How much would clubs normally pay for a third KPD, given PSD leverage? A pick late 20s or 30s. On the flip side, Freo will say he’s a top 10 pick and a worthy second KPD in many teams. Given he fills an urgent need for North, how much should they pay for that, especially since North has historically been worse at negotiating than an 8 year old playing Monopoly? A pick 11-19 then sounds right to Freo.

Tucker: Freo will argue he’s best 22 when fit and contracted and so they’re not letting him go unless it’s on favourable terms. Therefore, a pick in the early 20s or we’ll just hold onto him. North will argue he’s not best 22 and wouldn’t get a game for anyone else but North and so any deal is a good deal for Freo. Any third round pick sounds fair to North.

How to reconcile these diverse views?
If north gets a PP in the 11-20 range or trades pick 1 for 3 + 12 or thereabouts, Freo asks for that teens pick for Logue, gets knocked back by North then asks for it again in exchange for Logue+ Tucker. North counters with an offer of a future second for both and when pushed adds a future third.

In the end, I reckon after much hand wringing and tough talk, the deal gets done in the middle with pick 19 or end of first round PP for both. Plus…

…Wildcard: given a number of players may be leaving Freo, does Freo seek a player coming back the other way? Jed Anderson could break the deadlock to get this deal done because he could be a versatile big body and good depth for Freo that shows some value coming back the other way. North would be willing to let him go and he might be the last sweetener to get the deal done. (Or Freo thinks he’s a dud and wants no part).

…plus…despite what some BF might like to believe, trading is not about shafting the other party, it’s about getting a deal done your own club is happy with. In the past (eg CCJ), North would generally get shafted and Freo would walk away with the upper hand, but I’m hopeful that new management will display more competence than has been shown in the past. This particular deal is very likely to involve some late picks to ensure all parties walk away satisfied.

Can't understand why so many players want out from Freo. Good team, on the up, a possible flag in the next few years....it's weird.

Fremantle should take a punt and trade dual-Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe, according to Mick Malthouse

Mick Malthouse slams Fremantle Dockers players requesting trades, including Rory Lobb

We received pick 25 for a ‘Coleman Medal winning’ out of contract 26 year old with no PSD threat.

This is a huge test for us, Logue is worthy of a similar pick, but talk of 11 or even 19 makes me sick.

Offer 2023 R3 (37) and then turn the ****ing phone off.

l think the 1st option would suit with next years draft being better than this years with the 2nd option ok also. However if North get a PP under 11 then they should keep it unless Freo can offer a sweetener maybe a future 3rd rounder plus Logue and Tucker..BTW l'm thinking with my North hat on..

The Aliir Aliir trade a good indicator for Logue. Future 2nd, and Aliir was under contract. Can't see Logue commanding a 1st rounder particularly after his omission and subsequent shuffling forward as a role player

Agree. I’ll be fuming if we use 11 or thereabouts in this trade. Unfortunately our form with CCJ and Polec doesn’t fill me with confidence. Let’s hope Viney and Co lift our expectations in this space.

I think Aliir Aliir may have been a salary dump although I'm not sure.

Let’s be honest if Freo really wanted them they would pay them more .Freo actually have more depth in their list than I thought . Deal will get done down the line you would imagine.

PP 19 for both Logue and Tucker or GAGF
This is way overs. Massive.

19 is the equivalent of a R1 pick. It’s incredibly valuable in the right hands.

Our 2023 R2, sure… at least there is a chance it’ll be 23 or 25 or something, but 19, should we get it, I’d be holding on to it for dear life.

I have nothing against Freo. Dont mind them as a club really.
Same time had a gutful of watching this club being screwed over at the draft, trade period and as a club in general. Time to play hardball. No more than an early 2nd rounder for logue or PSD.

I would extract full market value for pick 19. Split it then offer Freo one of the picks
GWS and GC are the best options I can see for trading 19 down for 2 second rounders and getting Logue with one of them.
19 for 25 and 31 from GC
or
19 for 21 and 30 with GWS. (assuming 30 gets traded to them.) This is the less likely option.

30 or 31 would be enough for Logue.
If Freo want the earlier pick we obtain something need to come back our way.
Offer them a second rounder as by all reports that is the going rate.

That this guy? The one we have also saved 1.8m over 2 yrs enabling us to offer bigger wages to attract the likes of Logue? Think pick 25 was pretty fair tbh

Clinging on to any semblance of relevancy is poor old mick. Showed he was well past it by the time he took on the Carlton job and seems he shares the same senile affliction as sheedy. These blokes are done. Time to put them Out to pasture. Robert walls is in the same boat, to see * put him on their coaching selection committee shows where that rabble is at.
