Revealed: North’s draft assistance package

The AFL has granted North Melbourne future draft picks that must be traded for listed players as part of a special assistance package approved today.

The AFL has handed the Kangaroos a 2023 second and 2023 third round pick that must be traded to another club or clubs, for at least one player, under a draft assistance package aimed at making North Melbourne more competitive quickly.

The AFL also gave North the right to an additional two rookies on the list - a measure aimed at allowing the club to keep younger players while bringing in more mature talent.

Sources familiar with the AFL’s draft assistance for the Roos said the future picks had to be used in trades this year or they would cease to exist.
The league wanted to help North Melbourne without penalising rival clubs, and they did not want the Kangaroos to stockpile draft picks.
That’s atrocious.

Let’s just say one of the priority picks will be very well received on here.
It will be 3 minimum - the later 2 will depend where the first one falls. Given we have performed worse than Gold Coast and they got pick 1 and 2 one of which was priority I understand it will be a top 5 pick. Personally we should have pick 1 and 2 the same as Gold Coast.
:$

So next years draft is meant to be very strong, we get two picks that we have to give to other clubs or lose them forever. How does that not put other clubs in a good postion while dealing with us next year? They get to offload some spuds and we have to hope to get a fair deal.
And be thankful 🤔🤣🙁🤔

haha I hope they abolish priority picks moving forward now - I wasn’t a fan of any assistance but it’s just not consistent now.

With the presumable allowance for salary dumping in the future we’re going to see some almighty tanking going on with some hideous looking teams hoarding terrible contracts. If that ever does happen, we’re going to see more fabricated teams churning through overpaid players in short premiership windows. Interesting times ahead.

I was against using the psd other than for a bargaining tool if we did get decent pp. But given the underwhelming help which is still better than nothing, we should now use it to its full potential as a fu to the afl.... unfort some club will be at the other end but blame on afl!

Reckon we would have got more assistance had we not managed to secure Clarko.... I'd prefer Clarko

So-called ITKs have had a tough year.

KIA got mostly lucky with the Clarko stuff imo, and very, very wrong here. And who can forget Chadwiko being laughably and consistently wrong with the stuff he pretended to know about Nobles and Amarfios.

There's a lesson there about pretending to know stuff for imaginary clout on a footy forum. In the end you just look like a bit of a goose tbh.

i think we were served better from them when they were known as the "inner scrotes"

anyway i for one are far happier that the leaks have dried up,

I thought you and Chadwiko would bond over your delusion trading pick 1 scenarios.

Whatever you call them, it's deeply weird behaviour to pretend to know stuff just so you can feel important among people you don't even actually know

I know man. It's weird.

On another note, I'm hearing Tom Powell prefers goat's cheese over regular cheese. You can take that to the bank ;)
