There are already players interested in going to North that would suit those pick values though

Logue, Hill, Tucker for example

I'm almost certain the AFL would have had these players in mind when thinking about what they give them

So they are essentially getting 2 or 3 of those players for nothing, whilst keeping their full draft hand for next year

I don't think that's anything to scoff at
I very much doubt Fremantle fancy trading Logue for that, anyway we’ll see.

Alright here's a tempter: would you trade Hill and Clark for North's 2023 FRDP? High risk high reward, personally I don't see them in the bottom 3 next year, but maybe we reckon it's worth the risk?
Yes then offer it to GC or GWS for a scoop of trades this year.

They’ll have plenty of picks.

Spitballing with the pm group we came up with heaps of appealing structures and creative ways to satisfy for us.

3 + 12 for Clark + 9?

Finn Callaghan + 12 for Clark + 9?

They could potentially be an ideal trade partner.

But as I said. Spitballing.
You’d hope we’re working the phones hard setting up meetings, if you shake the tree and get someone to ask for a trade home you’re halfway to a deal.

If he wants the deal with no triggers wouldn't he just accept our offer and then Collingwood have to match it?

Also could the way Collingwood continually turf out their contracted players be a concern for him?
Really in the scheme of things I would add a $200k performance and behavioral clause.

Why not! We paid over 800k for Hannerbury and paying Hill 900k with 2 years to go.
What’s an additional 200k performance based add on going to do?

Not sure Freo could expect to get any more for Logue than an early 2nd

He's been pushed out of their backline and hasn't been great as a forward

That seems like fair value to me
He can also walk through to the PSD as he is uncontracted

I went and had a look at the north trade thread, wonderful salty stuff. They are a delusional bunch though, there’s already some amusing trades being thrown up. Lots of talk of walking guys through to the preseason draft as well. I’m pretty pleased with what they got, it’s more than they deserve and gives us a chance to see how good clarko is.

That’s going to be a big problem for him and the Pies. People will be filming everything he does wherever he goes. If he attends a party and has a few too many drinks and someone releases it what happens. Will the Pies be forced to withdraw the option for the third and fourth years, or scrap any performance based triggers.
if they are only guaranteeing the first two years I think Degoey will seriously consider a guaranteed four or five year deal.
I also think they are worried.
Listen to the language coming from the Pies.
“Let’s get it done”
“this is the place best for him”

Sounds like panic station inside the pies camp.

I like this one

"I read this as they both need to be traded for a player and or players, not picks. So could trade both picks for 1 player or multiple players. There will probably be more clarity around it in coming days.

Could they be used in a salary dump though. Hill and 27 for future 3 assistance pick?"

Hill and our second rounder for a future third........heck me [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Haha, this is bell we're talking about.

He'll hope that he comes up against a pushover club like us who value a reputation of 'being good to deal with', then extract maximum value.

Btw im for us valuing a 'good to deal with' reputation... but that only works when you are negotiating with someone who does the same.

If we're dealing with peanuts like bell and dodoro- we need to take the gloves off.

Has it been said anywhere if they are tied to North's finishing position, or are they 'start of round' picks?

Finishing position.

The extra selections won't carry into 2023 for North Melbourne if they are not traded this year, but will be tied to North's finishing position next year for whoever ends up with them, creating a marketplace for rival clubs to take them from the Roos.

Alot of Hunter Clark talk on the North Melbourne board. I'm getting very nervous

North can walk him straight to the PSD if he wants to push too hard for a good deal

Looks like a new ITK on the North board.

Let’s see if he is as good as the priority pick one.
